Coming in before Shieldbearer, Codex and every melee unit ever? (Berserker, Chryssalid, Elite Lancers, Faceless, Sectoid controlling a Psi Zombie, I guess). We seem to have different priorities.

In between these three, I'll gladly shoot the spectre first. But if the Priest also eventually gain psi abilities like Domination, Void Rift or even Null Lance...
+Pinewoodpine The Priest seems more focused on support and debuff rather than direct damage. Info from the official site states that it has Mind Control and Stasis among its abilities, and it has Sustain if it gets fatally wounded.

On a VERY good day, when only a few feet away from the enemy...who in turn seem capable of getting 30% shots from over a mile.
The Spectre looks like he's fun at parties. Can you say "Squad wipe"?
The auto miss can be scary though, that for sure - if they can spam it, i'm out. But seem like reaction shot against them will always miss.
It's lightning reflexes, like the ability. It only blocks one shot and the rest penetrate him like that one shrek is love video. Or so they say... Maybe they have a new version of lightning reflexes just for him?
If Bluescreen rounds work effectively on Spectre as they do to Codex, I think they probably won't cause too much problems for us to handle. But the idea that a couple of Spectres jumped in a battle while engaging Ruler is pretty scary af imo.

Oh great so not only can we not use explosives in Lost city out of fear we will attract The Lost now we have to be careful when shooting those flaming bastards. The Priest doesnt seem that dangerous if he is mainly a support unit you can just snipe him but if it starts acting like more powerful Sectoid then we are in trouble. The Spectre ...just looking at that thing fills me up with anger and frustration...
The Priest also has several other abilities not mentioned in this video. He can use Mind Control, Stasis, some kind of shield ability, and Sustain.
I mean, you can just bomb them and let they clean up the horde while you shoot their moving bomb to attract a second horde on top of their own forces soooo... its gonna be fun
The Specter will pretty soon learn the words:
Blade Storm
Assuming the bladestorm doesn't hit the blast mist form, because if not then that means that not even Rangers are safe.
But they do have to rematerialize to do anything.
they could be bladestormed on approach, then materialise
OH NO, a specter copy with reaper, enough said.
Bladestorm counts as a reaction shot, so they likely wouldn't hit the Specter on approach unless the Specter already used up its Lightning Reflexes on another overwatch en route. And since Bladestorm only works once per enemy per turn, it doesn't really defend the Ranger or Templar against the Specter.
I hope we can get a Specter Helmet
if you buy a strategy game for console, you are already doing something wrong. Even more when modding for that game is supported by the devs
I bought it for consoles mainly because I lack a good enough computer to play the game normally. :(

Rulers don't Spawn randomly anymore with the DLc they are put in there own missions
Well, they don't start off spawning randomly anyways. They only start doing so once you invade their strongholds in WotC and survive.
plus Rulers tend to show up really only with members of their own species. Archon King with Archons (and Variants from mods), Berserker Queen with Mutons (and variants), and so on. therefore you wouldn't really get any of these three showing up in the same pod as a ruler, cept maybe a single one as a follower, and that's rare. course, nothing is stopping the ruler's pod from showing up when you're engaging these guys already, though.
The Spectre kinda reminds me of the guards in Tron Legacy. Awesome!

Target seems to not be fully organic, so Mind control may not even be posible
you can still MC a Codex, and they're not fully organic. has to be completely robotic to not get MCed.

Awsome ^_^ hope they add more old abilities and possibly old units like the lovely "death disc", the floaters, or even the outsiders (love to see a newer model for them). It's always intiresting to see games develope new ideas, but bringing back the old has its own satisfaction. Just words from a dedicated Mech Soldier who was replaced by AI Machines.
Old doesn't always mean old news.

Spectre reminds me of the nanobot swarm thing that John Connor was in Terminator Genisys, right down to the boneless way it can flip it's limbs around.
I am so pumped for this, don't forget to make soldier customization better aswell!

James Chau snipers are like guaranteed to hit, tho... terribly skewed odds there
there's plenty of ADVENT sniper mods, and the Naja from the alien pack.
The hunter looks scary enough as it is and he's not that much different from a high level xcom sniper.

It would be cool if you could get a skirmisher to level up in a class of the Advent like the shield bearers and get their skills or maybe the priest or purifiers idk if you can have more than one of each unit but still it's just an idea
Possible the coolest looking enemy is the Spectre. The armor, the color scheme, and the abilities look great. Priest literally looks like a priest. We all already know about the other guy. I bet cha the next inside look video is the new game modes.
Those Priests won't live 30 seconds when I'm on the field.

You know the purifier might actually be terrifying if 1. He actually hit his target with his flamer, seriously I've never had a soldier wounded becuase of it! And 2. The Templars (as far as I'm aware) have guaranteed fortress as one of their abilities making them the perfect counter to purifiers

My question is, will the Specter have better AI than the Seeker from Enemy Within? Because Seekers were supposed to seek out isolated units, ostensibly as a Sniper nerf, but they always seemed way too eager, usually attacking within the first couple turns after being discovered rather than taking their time to wait for a better opportunity.

Using melee attacks is not advised. Well, no kidding, it's not like swords are the least useful option or that Rangers got the nerf bat swung at their crit rates.

Don't melee the purifiers... well I'm sure I'll fuck that up at some point xD
