Thank you being the only person to mention Aquatope. It was such a meaningful, touching series to me and is probably my anime of the year. Also I don’t know how I never heard of Returnal I need it immediately
Those are some great pieces of media, the only one that didn't quite grab me and that ended up being dropped was Aquatope, though I may go back and give it another go now that its over. I recommend you check out (or give another chance to) Sonny boy and Heike Monogatari, both shows with impactful narratives, visuals, and messages, which seemingly went off most people's radars for whatever reason. And holy shit, Evangelion ended this year, that was one hell of a ride. Also, regarding games, no other kept me hooked as much as Loop Hero did through 2021, my God, what a gem of a game.

2021 was the year where I started following seasonal anime. This was a blessing and a curse, but overall, I had a fun time. This is for 2022, but I recommend The Girl From The Other Side. It's also getting an ova by Studio Wit. The 2nd thing I recommend is Interstellar Rangers Commence coming this April made by TH-camr Browntable. I just love when people do their passion projects, especially with animation.
Kageki Shoujo!! was my anime of the year. It was also top 3 for opening and ending and best soundtrack. Sarasa Watanabe 2nd best girl behind Vivy/Diva.
Last year I played heck a lot of Tokimeki Memorial and finaly watched Evangelion (and Escaflowne)....SSSS.Dynazenon was nice and 7thDragon 2020 is not a bad dungeon crawler.
The best adaptation of Dune is still the 2000 miniseries. Really surprised you didn't mention Wonder Egg Priority, I really don't care how it ended that was definitely the only truly groundbreaking Anime in 2021.

Particularly, Dune was a magnificent cinema experience!
