The cut scenes, story and narration for the Homeworld games were on a level that made every sci game look foolish by comparison. I never played the games, but always marveled at the cinematics. They would make Carl Sagan and Arthur C. Clarke proud.

Karen S'jet is basically Aphrodite, our adopted mother, who represents Feeling (empathy) Makaan is technically Hades in this setting, who represents Thought (psychopathy) & is purposefully used as a "Sacrificial Ram" to fight against in order to give you Artificial but real Challenge (Chaos that is not actually necessary for your development, but is used to accelerate it). The Bentusi confuse me a little bit, but they appear to be sortof the balance or something. Idk. However, in real life, Makaan appears to be more like the current enemies of Freedom, found here at home (America & The West) & in the Middle-East (& soon to be all of The East). I could go over & over the rest of the details, but absolutely, this game is good religion.

They're the senior developers of Homeworld that left Relic Entertainment to create their own studio. They're currently working on Homeworld Shipbreakers which will be a prequel to Homeworld 1 set on Kharak. (Originally this project was called HARDWARE shipbreakers completely independent with Homeworld but Gearbox and Blackbird signed a contract which allowed them to use the IP and obtained more funding for the game). I am actually extremely pleased with how Gearbox handled this. I was worried when they bought the Homeworld IP but they're actually doing it right this time. They're handing over the development to the original creators. It's too bad the narrator and the voice actor for the Bentusi (Campbell Lane) passed away last year );
I played this game in french, and by god it's amazing how good the dubbing was. I actually prefer it (maybe for Nostalgia reasons). But the english one is just as good, after seing it.
Also, it just struck me, but imo Homeworld 2 takes a lot from Dune by Frank Herbert. I can see a lot of similarities. Be it in tone, atmosphere, or events.
Great graphics and cutscenes and arguably better multiplayer, but man, MandaloreGaming had a lot of points when it came to the offness of HW2's story especially with Cataclysm/Emergence in mind.
Thanks for uploading this, but the title of the video needs to be fixed. These are homeworld 2's cinematics, not homeworld's. Also the aspect ratio is off. Take a look at 3:00 in your video, specifically the circle in the center of the screen. Now look at /watch?v=LFXjGWmTY64&t=2m30s (the video should start at 2:30 for you. Just add youtube.com before it since youtube won't let me past full links.). Notice the circle is a perfect circle.
It's kinda annoying how the remastered cinematics aren't as good, the voice acting, punchy editing, everything but the resolution and bitrate were better originally
I love this game but the only thing I didn't like was the fact the art of the salvage corvette was lost in the sands of time. That would be the only explanation for the shitiness that is the marine frigate.
I have no idea why they abandoned the realism of the first game for this strange, quasi-religious theme in the second one. One was hard sci-fi, the other tries too hard to be mystical and ends up sounding stupid.
The fact that it doesn't follow up with Cataclysm/Emergence also doesn't help. And then there's the amount of deus ex machinas, like that awesome yet also stressful endgame.
