      I should have said the 'Ship Launcher' .
      In HW1 docked ships are listed in the menu and you can undock the group you want.
      In HWC docked ships are listed in the menu and you can undock the group you want.
      In HW2 docked ships are listed in a sidebar and you can ONLY launch them in the order they were docked! Listing each ship separately.
      Take ONE guess which idiotic system they used for the remaster?!
      You have no control how many, of which ships, you undock.
      Lets say you just want your corvettes to counter fighters or so... - OH YOUR BOMBERS UNDOCKED AND GET SHOT AT! ... and now they are dead!
      Does that sound like 'not an idiot' programmed this into a *strategy game* Oo ?
      It is painful to play like that. I had to resort to splitting ships up with my carriers to bombers are parked in carrier 1. fighters carrier 2.. etc. just so I can 'make it work'.
      its about as fun as being shoved into a bag and the bag being tossed into a river...

    I guess this is nice for people who considered the N64 as their standard gaming machine. By modern standards, this is a Colonial Marines of a game. Take a 20 year old game, do fuck all to the graphics, reduce that tactical elements of the original and then sell it to 35-45 year olds who sucked at computer games anwyay?
    This is some third rate bullshit. I used to work in Electronics Boutique (for anyone old enough to remember when this came out). This is like reselling Comand and Conquer, as is, except without post Dune 2 controls. Damn, I don't even know why I'm saying this, the people who comment on you tube barely understand the Newtonian laws of physics.

    Whenever I played classic Homeworld, I loved imagining the reaction of the citizens of Kharak as they watched the launch on television. I always imagined them screaming in cheer and crying in joy as the Mothership cleared the scaffold. It makes their annihilation by the Taiidan more poignant because the Kharakians thought the Mothership would return to bring them all to Hiigara; instead millions would never see the Homeworld.

      its cuz they all think pandering to every crowd of self proclaimed hard-done-byes, while making all manner of greedy scummy underhanded mechanic changes somehow balances out into a good game, gone are the days when game publishers cared about their craft, the days of original stories created to stand on their own without anyone's help, apologizing to no one for making their place in history as timeless masterpieces. Imagination has been left untapped by today's gaming industry, in favor of making money.

      @MrSPARTAKICK 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The entirety Deserts Of Kharak was made from a different game, Shipbreakers, which was supposed to be an, I believe, MMO. Gearbox saw potential because of their recently released Homeworld Remastered and its background lore, to make a prequel, bought Shipbreakers, and just re-used some of the marketing for Shipbreakers that featured the baserunner. I'm pretty sure in the original S.Bs. the baserunner was going to have a bigger role than science vehicle, and would've functioned more like the command cruiser of D.o.K., but I can't say for sure.

    • @donpula6349

    I'll admit, I miss the radio chatter you'd hear in the original intro that would echo in the background, but all in all this is a great success. Glad to see that Gearbox actually meant it when they said they were going to make this a true-and-true HD remaster, rather than get everyone to board the hype train so they could use the preorder money to fund their next Borderlands sequel...
    That's right, Gearbox. Not even Homeworld Remastered can save you from Colonial Marines. Never forget, never forgive.

      Finally someone gets it. Thanks for noticing that, I thought I was the only one missing the background radio chatter. I also think the captions (with the off-place HW2 Carrier pic...) are unnecessary; they are meant to be background noise adding to the scene.

    I still can't believe that after all the research into jump drive, we still can't freely move the mothership in campaign, and it's in zero g what the f#%*. I love this game no matter the propulsion issue, for I have not had that mystery feeling that you get from a story in a long time. Also the Rock Paper Scissors formula works well for this rts type of space genre of a game.

    • @rivenoak
      @rivenoak 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We know it could move, but we dont know how fast it could move and steer clear of obstacles. easier to jump than propell itself in slow motion.

      The engines weren't finished, that's one of the things that was going to be done in the first mission where the ship you were supposed to meet up with would have helped calibrate some of the unfinished systems

    I know that "chills" is rather cliché for videos and music... but, I can't come up with a better term for the pure ASMR of those engines firing up and taking the Mothership, in all her glory, out among the stars.

    -SOUND stirs emotion. The haunting music ( Agnus Dei by Samuel Barber - th-cam.com/video/fRL447oDId4/w-d-xo.html) And the grinding turbine wind up sound make for powerful stuff.. Combine that with the giant, beautifully choreographed visuals.... = Tears!!!

    I just noticed something here. In the remastered opening sequence, they replaced the old crawler from the original opening with the Baserunner, from Hardware: Shipbreakers (Now Homeworld: Shipbreakers)!
    Maybe this is hinting that Homeworld: Shipbreakers will take place on Kharak!

    A few minor details aside, and one major one (Homeworld's actual tracking of whether or not a projectile impacts with the hull of a target versus Homeworld 2's determining whether or not it hits by RNG and occasionally failing to adjust accordingly), this has played as downright impressive so far.

    • @Volound
      @Volound  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      yep, i also have serious problems with the RNG aspect. i loved the original because of how the projectiles actually behaved like projectiles.
      and apparently it is unfixable

      It's a part of the engine. It can be fixed...if you remaster the remaster on a new engine.

    I just played a bit of it. It's really good graphics, but the balancing is all off and the unlimited ship capturing from the classic is basically gone (just like in HW2 classic). So many problems with the AI and resources that it makes the game way too easy. Hope they will fix the bugs.

      $6B would maybe build the construction scaffold. Anyway: building this ended up with Kharak being destroyed, with the entire civilisation wiped-out. Uniting in death: is this what you want?
