I am on season 5 and rewatching for second time, that with origami frog was way too cute, but I don't think he didn't know how Lisbon feel about him,he new very well at least by the time she confronted him about having feelings for Lorelei, I am sure at that moment he saw that she loves him more than just a friend, so in my opinion his love for Lisbon was platonic and Lisbon is little bit in love with him at the time .

One thing I noticed rewatching The Mentalist, is how Simon’s pupils are always dilated when he’s looking at Robin, like in every scene. Especially through season 6 and 7. And as he himself said (also scientifically proven) “ When someone sees something/someone they want, their pupils dilate.” Look how his pupils are less dilated when looking at her and then go see some other scene with Lisbon. I’ve become fascinated with body language since I first watched the pilot, me and a lot of people too I guess. I know it’s acting, but pupil dilatation it’s an involuntary response as to what we see or want, it’s a subconscious signal of attraction. Just a thought lol
It's quite funny how wrong Erica really was. They aren't just attracted to each other because of what kind of facade they display on the outside (Lisbon being good and Jane being dangerous.) They are attracted to each other because of all the things underneath the surface. Things that only each other have really seen. Erica is attracted to Jane because of what lies on the surface and because of what he displays to the world for few to see, but he let his guard down with Lisbon, letting her see who he truly is, and she did the same with him. Erica is still blind to who they both truly are.

@@nullb0 I actually agree with both of your comments and I wouldn't if I was writing this comment first time I watched the show because I was all about Jane and his story so I justified his actions because of the things that happened to him etc. But I am rewatching now and I know the story so I am now more focused on other characters and details and how were they affected by Jane especially Lisbon and he did manipulated Lisbon multiple times,and when we saw Erica second time around he got her out of prison even Lisbon was against it,then he refused to send her back to jail when Lisbon wanted because he said he needed her and at the end Erica escaped because he give her time to do that by not sending her back in jail even if Lisbon warned him she will try to escape and he knew there is a chance, he did some stupid things when it comes to Lorelei etc.

Lisbon knows. Lisbon and Jane purposely made a jelaous scene so Erica would open up to him and reveal the money. Erica actually tought she had a chance with Jane.
She's spot on by their attractions. But she doesn't see the part that adds to that attraction. The close bond they've developed over the years. That bond + attraction, brought then together as a couple.
Erika was wrong though, Lisbon might be intrigued by the danger & unpredictability, but she doesn't like it especially after all these years. She likes that he uses it for good typically.
She always presents as not liking it. But really, they always amazed her. What she didn't ikea was him not looping her in. Once he started doing that, you could tell how much fun she was having.
I have not seen this whole episode, but wasn't this all planned by Jane & Lisbon? It seems like they were faking everything here to trap Erica. So Jane was just acting, not really sympathizing with Erica.
Before criticizing Jane and calling him every word in the book try to consider the possibility that he kissed Erica to make the deception seem more real so that she wouldn't think he is pulling one over on her just to trap her. Maybe he chose not to tell Lisbon about the kiss beforehand because he figured she would object to it. Anyone who has seen this show for seven seasons should know that Jane is a better man than that.
