Bless all the people involved in preserving this rare, elusive species! It takes an immense amount of work, dedication, and money to preserve habitat. Black Rails are really fascinating little birds. I had my first and only encounter with one some years back just over the state line in LaGrange County, Indiana. One showed up on some Amish property in a wet meadow. Needless to say, it drew lots of birders. My encounter was heard only, but knowing how rare they are and pretty much impossible to see, it was an extraordinary encounter, and I feel very privileged.
Thank you for all the wildlife biologists, conservationists, and landowners involved in helping these Rails survive. Each of you is an unsung hero doing good and necessary healing work. You help the land and animals and healthy lands and ecosystems are necessary for humans to live well and thrive. Thank you, thank you, thank you.🙌🏼
First time I've seen or heard of the Black Rail. They are very pretty, indeed. I live in Arkansas on a low area and behind a creek on about three acres. A couple years ago we had some King Rail on the corner of our property that sets in a low area. That was a treat to see, and I hope they return again.
Thank you for this in depth information. Thank you to those working so hard on behalf of birds, & wildlife. Thank you for creating a model which can be duplicated to help wildlife❣️
When I was a teenager, a technician that did surveys for the California black rail and Virginia rails would come out to our property sometimes and document data. I got to join her on some of her surveys and learn about the rails and why their conservation is so important. Such a cool bird. Love the little guys. Favorite thing to photograph in NorCal. Thank you Tricia for inspiring my interest!

The black rails are wonderful! They are just beautiful! Thank you for all your hard work and help to conserve such a beautiful place!
A new bird for me. extremely informative piece. To top it off the sensitivity shown in this video gives us hope in many ways beyond birding.
Gorgeous footage and a fascinating story--it makes me proud to be a Cornell member. Thank you!
Great video highlighting all the hard essential work that goes into species preservation! Thanks!
Excellent presentation, such dedication, we need to apply these processes thru out all of our coastal wetlands , nicely done, thanks

Excellent stuff!!
Such a wonderful video. I noticed that it was made July 15. Can you give us an update of what's happening with the area and birds after the hurricane
We all need to contribute a part for our local nature, then together, we can make the whole world better!

Loved your video. Are they related to the water rail in the UK? Call is similar.

Restoration of a habitat
Vital!
🤩✨️💙💝
Loss of natural habitat to agriculture is the cause of their extinction.
🤍🤍
Its sad that we, (Humans) are causing the 6th extinction. All that will be left is dogs and cats in the end.
