AMERICA'S ARCTIC - TESHEKPUK WETLANDS

- The abundant wetlands in America's Arctic, especially those concentrated around Teshekpuk Lake, are among the most extensive and productive for birdlife in the entire Arctic. Birds fan out across this landscape to nest in astonishing numbers, with some of the highest known densities of breeding shorebirds anywhere on earth. The Teshekpuk Wetlands provide vast tracts of undisturbed habitat and an abundance of food. Summer produces an explosion of insect life and plant growth, and 24 hours of daylight provides the opportunity to feed around the clock. The abundant resources fuel a short but rapid reproductive season, drawing millions of birds from around the world year after year.
I wasn't expecting to cry while watching this, but cry I did indeed. I don't cry readily, for what it's worth, but nature has a special power over me. As the credits rolled, I thought, "What a beautiful world we've defiled." I showed this documentary to my wife, expecting that I wouldn't cry again, but I did. Thanks for this little film. It really touched me.
This is profoundly beautiful to me, indescribably so, only that I am filled with love and wonderment and inspiration and hope we will wake up in time to prevent such places and their minions from being swallowed by our reckless endless civilizational growth. My tears right now are of both joy and sadness.
Beautiful nature, well photographed, nicely music backgrounded and sweetly narrated.🌹🌹👍👍❤️❤️
Wonderful video. I've never been to the arctic, but I'm lucky enough to have seen some of these species when they winter here.
Narrator sounds exactly like the voice for wingspan. Adds even more charm to this documentary.
lol seeing bird courtship confirms for me that if he wanted to, he would.
Absolutely amazing beautifull gorgeous documentary 🎉!. Thank you. Heartbreacking to know we humans are putting this fabuleous environement in danger of destruction 💔 . MUST not be allowed !!.
Cornell lab you just get better all the time. Keep doing what you do. Thank you for an awesome video. Who doesn’t love birds !
Time to go out and fill the Feeders. Gotta Love those Birds! Wonderful Video, brightened my Rainy Morning.
Beautifully done.
Gave me goosebumps.
Laughing Loons 💞
When you see this then see how much oil and gas infrastructure devastates these habitats, it's soul wrenching.
I’m constantly fascinated by the ingenuity and practicality of animals.
These videos are always so masterfully done
Hearing you say females with less dramatic feathers are created that way to better hide their nests from prey. That makes sense, good point.
I was intrigued by how far these birds fly and the fact that they return each year.
Superb video ❤❤
Great documentary. Would have liked it to be longer. 👍🙂
Once they've mated, the relationship ends. Now, why does that remind me of my 20s?😂 Beautiful film, it reinforces the joy that I get from watching the birds around me and the ones I hope to see someday. 😊
i've enjoyed viewing this so much, i would like to know the name of our narrator who does a fantastic job. i'm emailing CLO now. - silly me, who knew some vids include credits. Betsy Winchester. Well Done Betsy.

Fantastic video!
This video is beautiful!
I love these videos. So beautiful birds.
It's so dangerous and frightening in the nature alone, for a wader who is so vulnerable. It's so hauntingly beautiful to see how a sandpiper with no partner has to go through wonderful hardships.
I have no words to describe the feelings. It's amazing to see the footage and narration. Thank you for sharing, a lot. ❤🙏🏼💐
Amazing!!!!!!

Loved this video always enjoy Wildlife Documentaries I was wondering if you'd consider making videos like this but 40-60min long and show multiple different types of birds like Waterfowl, Birds of Prey etc
Excellent video 😊
we need to be vigilant in protecting these last few remaining areas
Thank you for this video. Excellent.
Exquisite. Thank you.
Beautiful, and calming. 💜
Absolutely uplifting and profoundly beautiful! Thank you for sharing your collective insights and making us all aware of these precious, unique ecosystems that connect our whole globe! Seeing the migration patterns of these birds says something very powerful about what being a citizen of Earth means, and what wholeness means to our planet and to us as human beings! Our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health are deeply connected to the health and well-being of all the other species with whom we share this beautiful planet!
Phenomenal!
Nature shows are so humbling 😂
I appreciated this documentary that just told the beautiful story without all of the heartbreaking current status. Thank you. 👏🏻❤
wow.
Incredible, as long as we don't allow the oil companies to destroy it.
six nickles!!
Thank you, President Biden, for helping to protect this precious land. I can only imagine the amount of blood, sweat and tears that went into the making of this video. Impressive work. Thank you to all who made this happen.
“Blood, toil, tears, and sweat” to be exact.

April 19, 2024: 🚨BIG NEWS for the Arctic!🚨 Today, the Biden administration released a final conservation rule that will help protect 13 million acres of America’s Arctic from oil and gas development. This announcement will provide stronger protections for lands within the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska in the Western Arctic and is a critical step towards recognizing the importance of Alaska’s public lands and waters for protecting communities, biodiversity, and the future of our global climate.
7000 miles nonstop with a two month old that’s parenting.
But how much do 6 nickels weigh 😭
Great video! Thanks President Biden for securing these wetlands. Mahalo tlaloc
Wide, black stripes on top and bottom of the video look like camera malfunction, or inept cameraman.
America owns Alaska. It does not own the Arctic. Canada owns the Arctic.
No one “owns” anything on this planet.
Had a chance to listen to Michael Mauro, one of the cinematographers, yesterday. Fascinating behind the scenes look at how this was filmed and how he approaches shooting video and images of wildlife. Several excellent points on technique and methods. And how to deal with mosquitoes. Never thought about mosquitoes in the Arctic. Came away with a real interest in learning more about the Greater White-Fronted Goose since they migrate back to Texas coastal marshes. Michael Mauro is with Truth and Legends Productions here on TH-cam @truthlegend. Also sat in on Lee Hoy's session. Lee was interviewed by Michael for one of his podcasts. A terrific day to learn from two of the best wildlife photographers/videographers.👍👍👍
