Flush Mounting To Vinyl Siding Shop Build Ep.3

In this video I am building a stem and mounting block for the new shop barn light. I purchased the dome from a retailer and did all the rest myself. I start by cutting a piece of construction lumber into a block and putting sides on it with glue, nails, and later adding some pocket hole screws just in case. The overhang on the outside lip is about .5", the same thickness as the siding on the building. I used the siding to make a template and cut out the pattern with the jigsaw. This makes for a very good fit against the siding and easy to seal with caulk.
