- I have an auto-immune disorder that means I don't have dependable good strong days very often. To fix this I have employed the services of my meat rabbits to load up my hotbed raised greenhouse beds for me.

I'm so excited watching this! I'm anticipating my own version, hopefully soon. I think this is the way to go to create a first garden, when I'll still be learning my land. It would allow for both food and the creation of a large amount of compost all at once. A second, more permanent-location one can be built once I get a better layout of the land. ALSO, I was excited to see how *pretty* it was in there. This new hotbed greenhouse is the bomb, Juli!
Not sure how I missed this a couple of days ago.Great step forward and appreciate the rabbit interaction. Glad to hear Patreon and Etsy helped finance your going forward. Best wishes
Absolutely love your ingenuity !! And love your functional not frilly attitude!!
You are creative and resourceful. I love it!
I am so loving watching these videos.
I'm not getting any younger and love these beds
Thanks for your insight. I'm creating my plan for my soon to come large greenhouse. Been waiting years and now I'm researching how.
I envy you being able to keep rabbits. In Australia, we have the two rabbit diseases myxomatosis and calicivirus, introduced by the government to reduce the feral rabbit population which was a massive problem.
But it is almost impossible to prevent domestic rabbits from catching these viruses, and a pen of healthy rabbits in the morning can be full of dead rabbits by the afternoon. Heartbreaking and very expensive.
So I now have guinea pigs instead. They're so healthy, colourful, quiet, with many of the positives of rabbits. I've never been hungry enough to eat one, but the option is there.
Oh that is so fun! I have seen some really amazing videos about keeping guinea pigs free range. They are the cutest thing ever!
Another great hotbeds video!
Teasing us with all that green. 😮😊 I’m always amazed at your setups. ❤
Your Babies have grown so much very cool!
Yep, my little giants tower over me now.
This is so ingenious!! I have rabbits but no greenhouses. I find my coverings just end up blowing apart with wind and rain and no matter what plastics, tarps or canvas I use, I have so much wind and stormy weather, it just blows apart. I am not meant to have a greenhouse but love yours! ❤
I’m in NM and we are expecting 70mph gust’s tonight and tomorrow…
@@virginiaallisonpeck2517 oh dear! Time to batten down the hatches! Stay safe. ❤️
I've been wanting a goose FOREVER this video didn't help. Lol
So sweet!!!!
Geese are great but they flock birds and don't will a lone and of houses close or live in city to you it may not be good idea to get geese as can get pretty loud and people get mad ..
@@carrieashley6465 yes I know. I live miles from others. Off grid homestead. My hesitation is my Turkey Tim. He's my breeder male but follows me everywhere. Like a pet dinosaur. Lol
I don't think he would like me to have a goose.
I have guineas....and a yellow naped Amazon
Loud birds are ok with me ❤
Oh man, you are lucky...she brought geese too? Might want to move those electrical wires higher before the geese get into them.
Did u transplant those strawberries elsewhere when u refilled the hotbed? Any tips for replanting strawberries?
Mine are a problem this year. I have a mix of June bearing and everbearing. I have them in a raised bed that we put more soil into this year. Originally the new dirt was placed in between the plants but it has since moved where it wants. The soil has settled into the plants where the new growth would have bore more flowers giving me berries. I have lush green plants and NO BERRIES.
=-/
Im tempted to dig them up and replant them above where the darn settled soil & hope for better next year.
A woman after my own heart ... using stuff that you already have on hand ... my husband doesn't like re-using pallets or most wood. I tend to use whatever I have on hand.
I love the idea of rabbits on the hotbeds! How many rabbits would it take to fertilize 1 hotbed over the winter?
The rabbits have to be directly over whatever you are filling so you need to cover the whole bed with cages. The bigger the bed the more rabbits you need.
@@dirtpatcheaven Thanks for your reply Julie! I could probably get away with having rabbits as I'm in town and can't have chickens. Thank you so much for your videos and sharing great info!
I miss raising geese...
Why door open during the day?
To keep the rabbits from overheating. They don't like to be even a little bit hot. Just keeping the wind off of them they stay warm enough just with all their fluffiness.
This is a horrible way to treat rabbits. Those bare wire cages have no toys or enrichment activities and no safe place to rest their paws from the wire. How are you not spending a fortune on vet bills to treat sore hocks? Not providing a safe dark cubby to burrow is very stressful for the rabbits. Not having a space to run and exercise is unhealthy for them. How do you expect to be healthy eating creatures treated like this? Even if you prefer to keep your bunnies outside and eventually slaughter them, you could provide a better life for them than this. (We get plenty of manure and aspen shavings for our garden and compost pile from one very much loved house rabbit's litter pan. You don't have to callously exploit the animals to get the benefit of keeping them.) Appalling!
