Human pursuit predation isn't only physical, but can be psychological as well. Though crew dynamics prevents the breaking of bodies, the breaking of minds appears to be another story. In this game of Cat & Mouse, the mind is deadlier than any claw or fist.
I know this is on an HFY vid, and in the context of an HFY setting your comment would frequently be true, but just as a reminder: while humans do have abnormally high endurance among Earth animals (only the Horse and the Dog are even in competition), and that is potentially a good basis for predicting that we might be abnormally high endurance among alien life as well, it is important to remember that it is only a speculative prediction based on the very limited dataset we have available (1 biosphere containing 1 sapient species). And while only a sled dog under its ideal running conditions (below freezing so the environment can constantly cool them off) can beat a human in peak condition and humans hold the record in every other condition, horses and dogs DO regularly beat humans at endurance racing when both are in reasonable-but-not-amazing shape. Thus I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the reality turned out that humans were well above average at endurance running across all alien life in the universe-and maybe even endurance in combat-but probably not the uncontested champions like in most HFY.
You might outlast them in a fight... But you 100% won't outlast them in a chase. You'll get away... And then you'll see them in the distance, slowly closing in... Classic Pursuit Predation. We just keep slowly following until you collapse from exhaustion and we catch you.
My trickster side chimes in amusement of such 11/10 trolling of a "stalker" in Japanese meaning of it, playing in "trying to sneak on your friend" in a way that will make everything appear in a very fun way to Reprig, while being 1000% deniable on direct question.
Looks like well get to find out how well they can go against two high class death worlders. I swear just listening to these is like a shot of pure self esteem. "The apex predators of other worlds fear you."
Me being late to the party on these is becoming a theme. But hey, what can you expect after half a year of writing. That's right! I have been publishing this story once a week for half a year now. And am still going strong! Hope y'all enjoyed my characters exploits once again, and I will see you next time. -Lanzen
I'm glad you've stuck with your story so long, and I appreciate the way you manage to advance how affectionate and comfortable the two deathworlders have become even through describing another character's abject horror. That's attention to character development if I've ever seen it.
In their defense, they're probably not entirely aware of the sheer terror they're bringing. Sure, they might figure he's nervous, but I can't imagine they'd be on the up-and-up about exactly how horror inducing it really is. I mean, this is kids' games level stuff for them, they're bound to underestimate it.
things you never want to do when fighting a human: drive them into the defensive, get caught in a chase/pursuit, humans are built to excel in these two situations
I'm not sure that's AS impressive in such low gravity settings, but still hats off to him. I'd have probably skipped the boxing and just jogged for two hours straight.
God damn that's mean. But Reprig kinda deserves it. At this point I would have gone to the captain, "Sir, with all due respect do you have me under surveillance?"
Deserved torment. Next time? Just let them know they'll be keeping an eye on the "target". Humans are generally fine with being watched, so long as they know when its happening. At least, for legitimate reasons, such as making certain we're not dangerous to our colleagues and so on. In fact, we'll generally greet these observers with amusement and in good nature. I mean, how often to we speak about our NSA or FBI observers, even though they may or may not exist? We find it fun, sometimes. Mostly because we wanna see if we can get away with anything. Usually something innocent. Like taking a pen, or similar.

One thing you have to understand about a human that is in reasonable physical shape.
You are NOT going to outlast one in a fight.
Which partly plays into their reputation as dancers (it's not really a spoiler).

oh yeah, he definitely does. He's a xenophobe through ands through even if it's only directed at certain species.
@@willparry530 I mean, the fact that it's directed at certain species makes it worse
@@StaticDraco Nah, I'd really consider omnidirectional xenophobia worse, because then it would be an undeserved sense of superiority over *everyone*
