How many units of Kwh does Inverter AC consume overnight and in 24 hours how do Inverter AC's work

  • So, guys, this should give you an idea of how much electricity in kWh an inverter AC will consume when you are running it during peak summers.
    NOTE: Your power consumption might be less or more than mine because the power consumption does depend on a lot of factors like
    1. Brand, tonnage (mine is 1.5Ton) and the model of you Inverter AC.
    2. The age of your inverter AC, newer ones are more efficient, mine is about 3 years old.
    3. Maintenance of your AC (you must keep the condenser and filters clean for best energy efficiency).
    4. Size of your room.
    5. The number of people in the room and the Heat load.
    6. How will your room is insulated, mine is pretty well insulated and sealed, so that helps to keep the energy consumption down.
    7. The number of windows and doors you've got and the number of the sun-facing walls in your room.
    8. The temperature you set your AC to, I usually run my AC at 26 degrees Celcius, if you set a lower temperature like 22 degrees, then you will use a lot more power, so keep the AC at an appropriate temperature, the goal of having an AC is to feel comfortable not feel cold or freeze.
    and lastly the most important thing, the outdoor temperature, if the outdoor temperature is very high, then your AC will consume more power to cool your room down and keep the outdoor unit in shade away from direct sunlight.

      @@GrantMcWilliams I can understand that, and the human body can be accustomed to certain temperatures. However, there comes a point where your home reaches a temperature that causes the body to sweat when doing simple activities like vacuuming (or just lying down) and no one should ever have to be sweating in their own home. If my house were over 72F (or 22.3C), I'd be sweating with simple activities, personally.
      Are you saying that with a 26c indoor temp, that doesn't occur with you? I'd be dying. Outdoors, 26c wouldn't be too bad, assuming there's a light breeze.

Incidentally my 1.5 ton AC in my Chennai home is a non inverter AC and it consumes around 14 units during its night running of around 11 hours... Except for my own cleaning of the outdoor unit with water jet and cleaning of the dust filters in the indoor unit I've not so far encountered any problems... Day time running is very very rare... Night time running from mid March to mid July... Five months and for those months I get a bill of around 4,000 bimonthly... after seeing your clip I've decided to go in for an inverter AC as soon as my AC conks out! Maybe another couple of years .. but like you said waiting might produce more efficient inverter ACs! God bless you

    This is a great content.
    Whenever I ask the air conditioner stores, usually they would tell me that if you are using the air conditioner for more than 4-5 hours (some even say 7-8 hours) continously, then you should only consider inverter otherwise it is not worth the money. From your video, it takes less than an hour for the room temp to reach the set temp before the compressor starts to slow down. This is obviously affected by different factors but i am coming from Malaysia where the average outside temperature is about 32-34C so I can imagine it is faster to reach the set temperature.
    Inverter is definitely the future. Not only because of the electricity savings but it also helps to reduce the carbon footprint.

    • @TechGuyCharlie
      @TechGuyCharlie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When the outside temperature is about 32-34 then it takes less than 10 minutes to cool the room down to 24, after that the AC will run at low power to just maintain the room temperature, totally worth getting an inverter unit.
      Same story here, the shop keepers always push for non-inverter units mainly due to their higher profit margins, however due to stricter energy saving norms, non-inverter ACs have almost completely disappeared from our market. Inverter units are definitely superior, not only when it comes to energy savings, but also they make less noise and provide consistent cooling, since the compressor keeps running continuously at lower power levels.

    I have a doubt.
    When I switch in my ac as soon as my stablizer turns green the ac unit first run on fan for 10minutes and then start cooling it. But if i switch on my ac after 30minutes when stabilizer turns green then the ac unit starts cooling the room on the go.
    My doubt is why does this happens? Is it good or not? Is it energy efficient method?

    Question, how often does the non inverter AC turn off, then turn on. Within a certain time period, example 3 or 6 hours?
    Should test its total use as well like how you tested the inverter AC

    Hi, I have quick question regarding your PC. I saw on video that you are having 650w SMPS on your system. And also you are using APC ups, can you please share details of the ups and arrangements that you have made also how long does it gives a backup. That would help me alot.
    Looking forward to hear from you soon.
    Many thanks 😊

    If the direct sun affects the ceiling/sunny wall that much, an interesting experiment would be to apply some additional external shade/blinds over them. The consumption data of the AC units observed over a longer period of time could prove if it made a significant difference or not.

    • @TechGuyCharlie
      @TechGuyCharlie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It will make a significant difference, I got the ceiling treated with reflective paint, already noticed a 3-4 degree C difference in temperature and the AC also takes less time to cool and runs at lower power. I haven't calculated exactly how much difference it makes but, it does.

      How much units consume per hour?

  • @ithehappy1
    @ithehappy1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Just above 8 units in 24 hours is amazing! But I would like to know what the non inverter model would have consumed in same duration under same conditions.

    • @TechGuyCharlie
      @TechGuyCharlie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Quite amazing indeed, these ACs are super efficient, especially if you set the temperature between 26-28 degrees.

    First of all, you explained it really well, appreciate it.
    The thing I want to ask is that I heard for the first hour you should set the temperature at 16 to 18°c and then in 1 hour you can shift to 26 to 28°c and it will consume very less units. is that right ?
    You showed that when the inverter was running at 27°c once the temperature was achieved, it consumed really less ampaires. But what if you run the inverter continously at 18 or 20°c, will it consume less ampaire then also??
    Thanks, I will be waitin for your reply patiently.

    • @AS-ug2vq
      @AS-ug2vq 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it works much harder to maintain much lower temperature then what's outside. To save power set it to lowest difference between outside and inside Temperature.

    As there are WiFi Smart ACs now available in the market, people will probably leave them on standby for most of the time, Can you please measure the standby current ( when the unit is turned off by remote only )? I want to see how much power this AC is consuming when it's on standby and connected to WiFi.

  • @deepakkrishnamoorthy5326
    @deepakkrishnamoorthy5326 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you recommend a 1.5 ton 3 star Inverter AC or 5 star inverter AC for a room in home ? Ideal duration of usage would be 5 hrs on an average with 2 hours of continuous run.

    • @TechGuyCharlie
      @TechGuyCharlie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always go with 5 Star models when it comes to 1.5 Tons because 3 Star units have smaller indoor units, thus smaller evaporator coils which makes then in-efficient.

  • @oliveroji922
    @oliveroji922 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good presentation. Just wish you compared it with a non inverter AC. So that, if the difference is not much. I can choose to go for non inverter and put it on 26 instead of 16.
