I am nearing the end of a two year effort to get a factory built Velocity XL RG. Its built now, but not test flown and paint/interior work still remains. It has the Continental TSIO 550 C, 310hp fuel injected with a 4-blade scimitar MT-propeller. It has an all glass Garmin G3x panel with a Garmin GTN750 Nav Panel. My last plane was a Cirrus Sr22T and I spent a couple of years making videos in it. Now I want to do the same and even more in the Velocity. Glad to see a channel dedicated to the Velocity and a good number of subscribers already here. I would like to contribute to your channel when the time comes, if possible.
what was the final cost for the build if you dont mind me asking? are there any obsticals that a potential buyer of one be aware of ? ive been looking at these for a couple years
@@jamesgamerguy3 The final cost will be a little over $530k which includes a full week transition training by the factory trainer and factory familiarization with the build. Everything is higher end, including the 94 gallon fuel capacity, dual sticks, built-in Mountain High oxygen on-demand system, door seals, Continental TSIO-550-C twin turbo, built-in Tanis engine heater, AoA meter, twin pitot, custom interior with bucket seats, color matching, professional paint scheme, twin Garmin G3x 10 inch panels with a Garmin GTN750 nav panel. Solid state breakers, professional test pilot.
@@speedomars that’s honestly a very good price for a new 2023 turbocharged airplane. A cirrus or diamond would be slower and go for over twice that with less fuel capacity and older garmin panels.
@@jamesgamerguy3 Yes, I know. I bought a new Cirrus SR22T in 2016 for $840k loaded and flew it for 6 years and sold it for $800k a little over two years ago in order to switch to this Velocity. Today you can't touch an SR22T new for less than $1.1m and wait two years to get one. I have waited 2 years for this Velocity so far. But it will be twice the plane for half the price. The SR22T cruised at 170kts at 75% power, this plane will cruise at 220+ ktas at 75% and even faster at altitude. It will also have the latest Garmin tech which includes Smart Glide and a far faster panel than my old Cirrus. And of course will be cheaper to get the annuals done. The engine in the Cirrus was the same one, K version instead of the C version of the TSIO550 so the gas mileage will be similar, but the Velocity is more drag efficient, and the oxygen system will be more convenient since its an on-demand version so the oxygen fills will last far longer. Any Cirrus owner should seriously consider getting a Velocity, they are similar in terms of high performance but the Velocity costs far less to get and maintain.
A speedy machine for sure. Keeping the cabin of a Velocity is a challenge. I recommend seat heaters if you reupholster. They make a world of difference in my RV8A.
We are both new owners of the fast wing SE RG Velocity. It's going to be an amazing year getting to know our aircraft. Canard's are smooth and sexy... IFLYBIGSKY
Awesome documenting, I have a love hate with these planes. My best friend has one and just remember, "it goes through the prop" whatever rocks, FOD, loose screws whatever will hit the prop. Something recently hit the front tire, hit the prop, and flew through the rudder after it went off the prop blade. (roast on the crazy physics to go from prop to rudder) I love the efficiency and look of these aircraft but it seems like i'm learning pusher props have a unique set of issues.
I like the idea of NOT staring through the Propeller, I also like the sound behind me and it is safer with the Propeller being protected by those wings less chance of someone walking into the Propeller !
You can maintain it, but you cannot sign off on the annual condition inspection. Either the original builder or an A&P must do that. Unlike for certified aircraft, the A&P does not need to be an IA in order to sign off on the condition inspection.
i think this is the most exhiting airplane design...it needs to be liftet up to latest tecnology....and get a shorter takeoff-landings and grasfield landing..what you want then more, ?
sold it so quick, not the first airline pilot to lose interest in recreational flying. The irony. In fairness, I'm a pro pilot too and just sold my Arrow, but it was for different reasons (I got fed up with the market inflation, and certified airplane rules). the hobby is not doing well.
Great video
You are living my dream flying a Velocity! Thank for sharing.

Maryland neighbor here. Love the velocity. Their 6 seater and xl version as well as twin are exciting. Glad to find a ongoing velocity channel.
Very nice. Thank you.
4:50 25 miles to the gallon. Better milage than my car. I Want one!
Awesome Velocity content, please keep sharing!
This is what Xc flying is all about ... a plane with long legs ..speed and a joy to fly!! on my bucket list to get .....Thanks for sharing!!!
I like the ability to see ALL of the different Temperatures!!!
Cool video, thanks!

YES!!
You’re awesome brother. Excited to see what this channel will become! 💪
The pusher configuration really gives it an unusual exhaust night.
Brother 🙌🏻 this is my favorite aircraft as well.. the Cozy, long EZ, and of course Velocity SE and XL!! hope you share more 🌛ty 🛬🛩️🏆
How awesome. I'm pretty close to El Paso. Wish I could have seen a velocity fly over!

I've heard the velocity is a challenge to fly, I'm currently looking to pick one up.
More videos man!!!
Looking forward to more videos!
Great job!
Looks like a great trip
Keep making more content about the velocity.
He sold the airplane, everyone.
Tip for decent ?
Slow down to gear speed level at altitude.
Drop the gear and come on down.
Sick video AIRon
Nice! Consider a parachute.
More videos please
Great! - Bill N80UF
Hey. Since you sold the plane so fast, i'm Wondering if you could share anything that you didn't like about the velocity?
Did you notice on the map.. Just north east of M17 is marked (Half-Way).. I found that as I was doing a flight plan...
🔥🔥
21.79 mpg? Most current autos can't get that mileage! Where can I get one of these?
How much was it?
Where would you put the 12 inch tail number req for international flying?
Nice video. Just wondering, since you're not the original builder, does that mean that you can't maintain it yourself?
You can maintain it, but you cannot sign off on the annual condition inspection. Either the original builder or an A&P must do that. Unlike for certified aircraft, the A&P does not need to be an IA in order to sign off on the condition inspection.
Why are you selling the plane?
I am also curious, but I would love to take it off your hands
was it cold cause engine in back
