    You want to know what is truly a “dark story”…. Idols being over worked for minimal pay just to make netizens happy. Idols do vlive and bubble posts to stay relevant in the field. Companies know that if idols live their own lives, date or marry who and when they want then fans become so crazed and pissed off that the group is then ridiculed, bullied then ignored until they no longer exist. Companies give fans the power to dictate what their groups can and cannot do and this is the real dark side of kpop and its idols.

    • @sukirinaa
      @sukirinaa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +199

      Very true. That girl sounds like so many other nitzens speaking of the idols as if they are their property. Saying how they spent such and such on them so they should portray themselves in a way that appeases them. But let's be honest that 20,000 won she spent on that postcard didn't go directly to her it went to the company.
      I feel like smaller groups in particular are just being pimped out by agencies (not in a way of sexual acts) but in a way where the actual talent barely gets ANYTHING. They work and work and it's for essentially barely anything with nothing to show for it once the company feels as tho pimping them isn't lining their pockets enough so they throw them to the streets. What are they supposed to do? They're already used to the sexualization anyways.
      Being a BJ looks like they've made a lot more money than they ever made during their idol days.

    • @dr2drm88
      @dr2drm88 2 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      Totally agree. Cameras are on the idols almost 24/7 leaving them no privacy. Pimping out the girl groups is what they're doing. They train them young, oversexualize them, dress them in skimpy clothes even in freezing weather, etc. Kpop industry needs to change. Girls can be sexy and classy without doing these suggestive acts and feel that dressing up like XXX stars will gain them more popularity. e.g. Audrey Hepburn is the epitome of chic and classy.

    • @sukirinaa
      @sukirinaa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      @Elizabeth Chan It's honestly sad at this point. I've seen stage outfits where you see nothing but the security shorts on idols. I mean like what's the point of the skirt? Might as well make the Shorts the bottom at that point. Anything to appease those guys buying 19 CDs, I guess.
      I feel bad for a lot of them. Constantly being degraded by their so-called fans. No peace on their days off because the crazies are calling their phone numbers or hunting them and their families down on vacation.
      They are body shame them constantly. I feel really bad for the extremely under weight girls, I know their cycles are most likely nonexistent. Most likely going to end up infertile. I swear in 25 years I wanna see how many kpop girl groups that have debuted from 2006 to 2014, have had children. I hope there are some statistics.

      @@sukirinaa I'm just 2 years into kpop, a pandemic side effect. The idols look good on stage. But from what I've seen in videos like these, behind the scenes, the industry treats these trainees as slaves. For those who succeed, they are able to start paying off debts before they can enjoy the fruits of their labor. However, they have to forgo their private lives. And they're still single in their late 30s. What you said all rings true. I really feel for these people who want to be in the entertainment industry. Let's hope positive changes come to the industry as more former trainees expose the mistreatment they received.

      Also I assume that the content streamer & youtubers put on their OnlyFans is lot more adult then dancing in a Dress/outfit, with objectively isn't that different from what you see in a lot of western music videos, movies or fashion magazines.
      Anyway I personally think the use of "adult" with this type of streaming is very misleading and no need to wash your mind because it is true that "BJ" do mean something else when we aren't talking about streamers' :-).

Why are THEY the one upset and embarrassed over something somyi chose to do with her own time and body? She doesn’t have to enrol in a university to have value, her promiscuity doesn’t detract from her value. She can be sexual and fully functioning, contributing, valued member of society. Unfortunately companies and corporations trying to make money off streamers is whats gonna turn into the biggest mess. Which is a problem in many industries not just for BJ's. Somi found her way out of being stuck as a idol not making the money she wants so I don't see any reason her being a bj is a problem. Of course her controlling fans won't let her go without a fight but its the fans job to learn to separate their idols persona from real life. She clearly was not happy in her company so if you want the best for your so called "bias" you should let her be. It's not like she is streaming to her underage fans or anything illegal so they have zero rights to be angry that she found a well paying job.

    Somyi from dia I’m happy for her, she was one of my favorite idols of the group. I don’t see an issue with her pursuing an online job such as that. I feel her make that money girl. If I could do a job like that I would right about now. It’s easier than waiting for a pay check and waiting for the money that your saving to grow. While slaving away at work you got taxes, bills and a phone bill and you have to pay for food and gas collecting all that money. People might give her slack for it but maybe she doesn’t mind doing that type of job maybe she thought about it and liked it as a career choice for now. Some people don’t know but sometimes putting on a persona of being sexy or cute is freeing in a way like for example when you dance or put on a favorite pair of heels and walk outside. I’m not saying this like it’s the greatest thing in the world but it’s her life and freedom and her right.

So you guys really think they care about how their old fans feel about this?? Firstly they are grown so they can do as they please. Secondly when it comes to the fan talking about the money she spent on a card….. that money probably didn’t even go into her pocket. Thirdly their getting more money than they ever did and probably ever would from being a K-pop idol. Stop bashing people for trying to make ends meet when that’s all everyone is trying to do. At least they can have some financial stability behind it rather than slaving as a K-pop idol and getting nothing in return. And lastly let’s be honest the same thing that they are doing as a bj they did as a K-pop idol. The only difference is they are doing it in a more obvious way than before.

    I’m not from korea and I don’t know too much abt the culture, but from what I’ve observed so far, most of the people who are k-pop idols or training do be one have to put their whole future on that gamble. They spend most of their time training to debut, and if they make it then great, but if they don’t then there’s not much of a backup plan bc they have to pay for the training too.
    It seems as if it’s a cycle where it’s really hard to get out of since most idols spend all their younger years within or preparing for that industry rather than a career somewhere else, which makes it really hard to change careers or study for one when you’re in your thirties. It also doesn’t help that the companies don’t fully support their idols. Whenever there’s a scandal or smtn against one of their members, most companies avoid or blacklist that person from activities rather than defending and supporting them. Unless you make it really big and become one of the few groups who succeed, it seems really hard to earn a lot for the amount of time spent.

    Well is it really surprising? It can be good money if you look good (which almost all idols do) and show a little skin (especially for woman). Basically a lot of young people do it.
    I just hope they are mentally stable enough to handle harsh comments from unknown people

    I agree with Mblaq member, is not the platform problem or aproach is the individual act. If this former idols feel like this is the route they want to take in their life well is their choice. Personally I believe you can create a fun different unique content on any platform, it all rest in how and what do you want to be for life. Yes money is essencial in life, but at what coast.

    With dahee's case, she completed her sentence and now working so i don't think it's problematic. She made wrong decisions to earn quick money. Now, when I look at her, she is unrecognisable, with the amount of plastic surgery she went through she spent a lot of money.

    A lot of you guys are saying that its ok if idols leave their k-idol life behind them and just do online livestreaming for a living (which is ok as long as the idol is happy :) but its really the those selfish netizens out there who take these idols for granted when they are LITERALLY WORKING THEIR ASSES OFF just for our happiness...

    most idols go to performing arts schools and after they graduate they don't pursue any other courses at uni so they don't have the knowledge and skills to work in other fields so they can only turn to becoming streamers

    As an “easy” way to make money? That’s an unfortunate choice of words.

    Wow. I never thought someone I know of would be in this vid. So surprised with Ellin. I liked her chemistry with V but he wasn’t having her. Who knew she’d be doing this romance scam.

    The audacity of that fan thinking she can dictate how Somyi do her life just because she bought the 20.000 KRW photocard? Lol. Even the 1 mil KRW guy don't even want a refund

    Somyi always had people calling her ugly, bad singers and others type of bullying so those people saying that she could have a good career after DIA are just people who want to control her life like they do with other idols, because of the malicious comments about Somyi she even made a live on instagram saying that she had taken strong meds and was wanting to end her life. I know she have fans and I'm one of them but we're not enough to surpass the haters she had in the past, it would only make her feel worst and do something bad. If for her it was the best thing to her mental health than we shouldn't criticize that!

    I would too if I were an idol. It’s probably way easier and makes them more money. Being an idol might make you hate pursing music. At least for some
