    God has given this man great creativity, so much so that in the end God ended up giving us such an extraordinary message through him and thanks to this saga I understood that God is also manifested in literature, especially in fantasy.

      Thanks for watching! The imagination is certainly God-given, but it also has its dark side. C.S. Lewis was greatly inspired by George MacDonald and regarded him as his spiritual master. This is what George MacDonald said about the imagination: "Everything of man must have been of God first; and it will help much towards our understanding of the imagination and its functions in man if we first succeed in regarding aright the imagination of God, in which the imagination of man lives and moves and has its being.”
      I did another video about George MacDonald which talks about C.S. Lewis as well. Here's the link if you would like to watch it -

    Thank you for the video!! I’m just getting started with his work. Thankful for it, and I very much appreciate how you closed this video - may we all seek and keep our focus on our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! We can do that, through exploring great works such as written by Lewis! 🙏🏻

      Thank you for your kind words, James! I would also like to recommend that you look in to George MacDonald. C.S. Lewis referred to him as his spiritual master. Reading George MacDonald's "Phantastes" was a pivotal moment in the life of Lewis, and it undoubtedly aided in his eventual conversion.

      Hi Joshua! I'm glad you liked it. I will probably do some similar videos in the future.

    And I thank God very much for what he has done in this man, because in the end God through him gave us one of the most impressive messages that we needed. And told in a way as impressive and as creative as fantasy is.

    Fantastic presentation of a truly great man. His writing was instrumental in my own turn of faith.

    Please accept my profound thanks for creating this video .. and on July 13th no less! I found it to be industrious and comprehensive, but, at the same time, concise and fast-moving. A very pleasant and much-appreciated surprise. There is also no doubt, because of your photos, that it is a YTPC treasure! - seraphim

      Thank you for your kind words. I tried to focus on the major events of Lewis' life. I'm sure it could have been longer, but as you pointed out, I wanted it to be concise and flow nicely. Thanks again!

      @@thepipersmantel BTW .. Do you happen to know the brand/blend of tobacco that Jack smoked?

      @thepipersmantel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shirtsleeves860 Muttnchop Piper did a video called (Famous people and what they smoked), and apparently C.S. Lewis smoked a tobacco called "Three Nuns", which was originally created by J & F Bell about 100 years ago, and is still being produced today by the Mac Baren Tobacco Company.

    Evening Dan, what a great listen, and watch, well put together, I’m awaiting on a delivery of the screwtape letters, Ethan said this is the one I should start with, hope you are well.

      Hi Bob, Ethan knows his stuff when it comes to C.S. Lewis. I would follow his advice. Reading Lewis' autobiography "Surprised by Joy" would be my next suggestion. I think it's important to know why he was an atheist for so long and why he ultimately became a Christian.

      @@thepipersmantel thanks Dan, I’ll check that out, Ethan was saying the same I believe that’s what he will be discussing when he has finished the series he is currently doing looking forward to that,

    Very well put together and was wonderful to listen to. I had heard of C.S. Lewis because of the Narnia movie, but knew nothing of his life - until now 👍👍

    Obviously God's imagination is not like ours, but he gives us an opportunity to experience it and use it for his grace. But there will always be people who will take a stand against God's imagination and use it for disgustingly horrible purposes, and there are authors who have manifested this misuse of imagination. But as long as we have the same God we will know how to use it. And God with you is doing something glorious through your creativity. And it will always be so.

      @@thepipersmantel that's awesome, I've only started pipe smoking now for a few months, sad to see now where NZ is heading, might have to move over to AU come 2025 when it all becomes illegal

      @@squarepantsdance Welcome to the YTPC! I've been smoking a pipe for about five years. The first few weeks were quite rough, but Muttnchop Piper's channel, and a few others, helped me a lot. Unfortunately, it's possible that Australia may end up doing the same. I think they're waiting to see if it works in NZ first. Either way, I plan on stocking up just in case.
