There wouldn’t be so much pain and hate in the world if everyone truly and empathetically understood that we all were young. We ALL have lost. We ALL suffered. And we are ALL still here sifting through the memories.
I was 12 going on 13 the first time I saw a dead human being. It happened in the summer of 1959-a long time ago, but only if you measure in terms of years. I was living in a small town in Oregon called Castle Rock. There were only twelve hundred and eighty-one people. But to me, it was the whole world.
Gosh darn it! Those words along with the opening lines from the Goonies and the live action Masters of the Universe was my entire world and childhood. I'm so thankful for that 😋
Movie never fails to make me cry. Dads, show it to your sons when they're around 11. If you don't have children, watch it at the end of every summer school holiday.
June 1985 on a bus driving home from Cedar Point with the rest of my 8th grade class just before graduating. Looking out the window knowing I would never see most of my classmates ever gain. Never did either. "Friends come in and out of your life like busboys" no truer and sadder words have been spoken.
Something about this film and its score that makes you feel nostalgic for a childhood you never you really had. I didn't have friends at 12 like this movie did - but watching this movie makes me feel like I did.
I had a similar childhood. And it hits me harder than it hits you, I can guarantee you that. It’s very relatable. You and your friends, having a good time, camping, playing baseball, skateboarding etc... The older kids are bullies, smoking cigarettes and drinking.. It’s one hell of a life.
@@sdaftermath123 Yep. I grew up with friends that felt like brothers. We got into typical adolescent shenanigans, I never imagined a world where we weren't together. You get older, people move, life goes on. Sometimes it's better and sometimes it's worse, but at least I have the memories.
@@tony_anello honestly 70-80% of my childhood friends were the best ones I’ve ever had. A couple of them, I stood up for at weddings. I really do feel sorry for the guy above, or anyone else in general that didn’t get a chance to have the “sandlot” style childhood. We were spoiled and lucky that we did dude. Amazing memories. The key is to grow up in an up and coming neighborhood with young families. Wasn’t rich, definitely wasn’t poor, but man what a ride childhood was. If you have kids, spoil them
6:55 Oh my god, that is... I can't stop crying. That's the sound of my childhood. This soft music takes me back in time and my heart aches. It's too much...
"The train had knocked Ray Brauer of his Keds just like it had knocked the life out of his body. The kid wasn't sick. The kid wasn't sleeping. The kid was dead"
But isn't it amazing how music has the ability to do this.. to harvest such feelings instantaneously? It's like traveling in the speed of light to a direct time/nostalgia/feeling or place .. it's amazing and sad.. but at least we have ears to hear and feel. Close your eyes Go back for a bit...❤
I have always felt like like the only thing I wanted out of life was to be from somewhere. It turns out I should have just stayed. I am now dying, although I feel only sad about what life could have been in the past. I am grateful for it to be ending soon. I wish I could have stayed twelve forever.
Out of all the movies I’ve seen nothing has had an hard of an impact on me as this one perfect movie if i could choose only one movie to watch for the rest of my life it would be this one
There is something about this music that i feel like i was there on that exact day when the movie happened. I always watch stand by me as a comfort movie because their friendship was unmatched. This movie touched my heart in many different ways. Everything about it just gives nostalgia. If i got to be friends with them at some point (the actors, especially River, I'd be happy), I still think about River to this very day. He was too young to go, and i wish he lived on. I wish i could go back in time and save him before it was too late. I see people nowadays that are "attractive," and i dont feel anything. But to River, i feel like i have a connection with him. When i think of him, i get butterflies, and me and him have a lot in common. If i were his age back, then I'd do ANYTHING to help him. Other people now adays want just lust. If i had a chance with River I'd give my life. He makes me feel a certain nostalgic love I can't describe. He will always be remembered. R.I.P. to the one and only River Phoenix. ✝️🕊
Very nice, sweet, touching comment.... But you couldn't save him........ ❤️😥✌️. He was a Great actor... It is sad.... But I guess.... It was.....what is..... R.I.P...... River❤️
Reminds me of my childhood friends, we loved this film, what I would do to go back to the 90s. "I never had Friends after that like the one's I had when I was 12, Jesus does anyone?"
Good job, mate! Thank u for sharing! Stand by me will forever be apart of cinematic history. It tells a tale of the days of youth and friendship. Through the good times and the bad, through the times when youth was most memorable. No matter what walk of life you come from, no matter if were popular or a loner... You will never have the time of your life now as you did when your were young. So I say this to all those who are still young and learning life. Cherish it... because once you grow up all you will have are memories. Greetings from Brazil!
"Hey Gordie I got something for you. This my friend is for you"- denny "But this is your Yankee cap." Gordie "No this is your Yankee cap. Yknow how many fish were gonna catch?" -denny "How much?" -gordie "Bazillion. Bazillion fish. And it looks good on you just like that" -denny "Hey man im going blind" -gordie "Ah don't start with me porky pine cmere" -denny
Its the best film but I wish there was a part 2 cause the movie was a little long but there can't be a part 2 because river phoenix died the guy who play chris chambers in the film R.I.P. river phoenix. I miss stand by me
This music transcends the love we all experienced thinking of the past or even the present I was 6 or 7 when I first saw this and now 28 I still cry watching it
I’ve been watching this movie since I was 5 years old and honestly I think I mirror Chris and Gordie. I look like Chris and I try my best to be a good leader and friend like him but I’m also introverted and reserved like Gordie.
What's interesting about this suite is that this is the sped up version of Ben E. King's Stand By Me. The radio edit of the song is slightly slower, but they sped it up for the end credits of the movie.
Yes and more enjoyable and our energy was unlimited. Yet we were in such a hurry to grow up . Then when you grow up you’d love to go back to your youth . Life is strange
