He realized the fact, we hear the fact. Both are different. Getting burn in fire and hearing about it, both can't be same and can't bring the same change. Most probably the chances are one might even feel more worse and full of guilt than he was before hearing about it because now he knows what needs to be done but it is not of his experience.

It's not about how much the story is real, it's about how much u can get wisdom from it , so in this era of scrutiny it is better for us not to try to find the authenticity of the story rather look for the essence or moral.
I found that most of them are confused of names this is because there is no clarity of gender (he or she, Prince or princes) as per names it's he or prince or princes) is Sharmishta is prince or princes? like this many mistake s confused us other wise your voice is extraordinary, what you are doing is good keep it up
This not a story.. Its a chapter from novel yayati written by v s khandekar.. U have concluded only from this incident but read what was the reason behind the conflict between them..
Nice story. But then yayati indulged and in his own experience realised all this. He did not hear or read a story and stupidly followed it. We have actually made a society on suprresion based on such stories. Infact there should have been a society where you explore and then blossom after your own experience. Exploring is root of blossoming. You cannot cut the root. These stories are final conclusions and sadly have been used since ages to govern and enslave people.
But bro you should not try to experience everything!!!!! Some time you need to understand life with other people's experience!!! This type of story teach you lots of about life and you need to accept them directly not by experiencing it!
