  • By kind invitation of Jim the owner of Lower Bolfracks I returned to complete the pools I missed the previous day. Be sure to check out Lower Bolfracks Part 1
    My channel is called Cornish Chris the Fish. I am a Cornishman venturing out beyond the Duchy to experience life on the road full time touring in my Caravan Dalleth Arta, fly fishing and vlogging my adventure. I am a novice Salmon Fisherman so join me as I experience the topsy turvey world of Salmon Fishing. I am charting my fishing adventures and will profile each fishery that I attend. I may even catch a few fish 😀

    Hi Chris, for someone fairly new to salmon fishing your casting is excellent and as you know there are so so many anglers who freely share knowledge and advice. As you mentioned yourself you do need to 'cover more water' by taking a few steps between casts. I am constantly being reminded to cover the pools quicker myself, hence my mates never want to follow me down a pool lol!

      Yeah there is alot of advice out there and plenty of suggestions, sometimes to many to remember. Thanks for the support 👍

    One would think you're committing blasphemy by taking a step after casting out 😅! Go Cornish Chris 👍

    Salmon always run the line of least resistance, that's why they will often be hooked right in the soft water ,you need to observe the topography because that indicates a lot of whats happening under the water also.
    Small things like fishing in front of boils and rocks not behind them saves time and energy thats where the quite water is.
    I wouldn't worry too much about your fly in the spring some of the most successful angler only use a gold Willie gunn until grilse fishing.
    You could quite easily do that fishing with just 2 lines and a 3 flies and nit keep changing. Always try and get them from the top first then you can go down and you haven't disturbed the pool then say a sunray on a light tip first, then gradually go down in depth with a Willie gunn and maybe then comb the river bed with a snaelda in the same colour combo.
    Keeping it simple is the key early doors.

    For a novice Chris I think you're an excellent caster with all the component parts of the double spey looking good. One of the best pools on Lower Bolfracks is at the bottom of the beat - Home Farm. Last time I fished it at the back end it was absolutely stuffed with fish and it's lovely fly water as well. Next time you fish there give it a go.

    Hey Chris! Thanks for taking us along on another great looking river. Have a Great Time on the Spey and getting the opportunity to fish with a bunch of guys and I’m sure your going to learn a lot from all of them that will really benefit you on your future days on the water. Chris, 4 friends and myself were fishing Tulcan C and D last weekend, we stayed in Ben Mhor hotel in Granton, for two nights .those digs cost £60 for two nights and that includes a full Scottish breakfast. Quite basic but ample for your requirements, also has a bar and no doubt you will meet like minded anglers whilst having a small refreshment.

      @CornishChrisTheFish  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds great! I live full time in my caravan so pitch up at the site in Grantown so it's only £25 a night 😁👍

      @@CornishChrisTheFish bet you can't get a breakfast like we had for a fiver, also the bar is a wealth of information amongst anglers who share experience and techniques.

    Your videos are bang on and I would like to have a go at it but the cost is out of my budget at the moment trying to start new business and everything is gone out the door at the minute that's shooting, trout sea and coarse fishing has been put on hold. Looking forward to your next video.
    Your next fishing trip is free 😂

    Hearing you talk about which fly you've got on, I did giggle. If you get a chance have a look at Iain Bain's TH-cam channel. In his lovely Scottish lilt he usually says 'I'm fishing the USUAL'. This always means the Iain Bain special fly. He does have an orange fly as well sometimes.

      @@kurtmoxley2491 mines a scandi/templedog style fly from tay salmon fly. It acrually looks ironicaly unusual in the box.

    My guess for the cost of the Spey adventure would be 78p and half a jar of pickled eggs.
