    So humming is a thing? I'm currently experiencing this and I'm baffled.

    I’ve added the 80hz high pass filters to my LRS, I have about 5 hours on the new setup. I’m really pleased with the additional clarity and tone in the highs. I did used QED silver spiral speaker cable and Audioquest 500 series banana plugs to connect, I’m wondering if a higher quality crossover will give more sonic performance.

      Thanks for watching and trying out my ideas. I am glad you are having success. People argue whether air core or iron core inductors make a difference. My view that this is a very simple circuit (two components) at a very low frequency. I think is debatable whether spending more money would really result in sound improvements.

      Curious, what size/model RELs are you running with your LRS? Just got the LRS+, opted for a single REL T/5, read up on some things and was told for a small/medium space that would be a good pairing. However, I keep coming back to 'should I have got a pair'? Thanks!

    Hi Chris thanks for making and posting this video, very useful information!
    When someone goes out of their way to help others, it always bewildereds me why someone would give a 👎 down! 🤔
    Do you happen to have an Amazon link for that bigger thickness gauge cable?

    Chris:

    I hope this e-mail finds you. I have the a set of Magnepans LRS and ( 2 ) REL t5i subwoofers. Unfortunately, I am a dinosaur, and having a very hard time, trying to make the above equipment work together. I noticed that you have the above equipment. I can't make these work together for me. When I have the subwoofers on. I am getting the tonal balance, I'm looking for but the soundstage is no where near, where it is, once I turn the subwoofers off. Once I turn them off, the Magnepans open up and really sing. If I could ask you a big favor and if you could tell me what ALL the settings are, on the back of the REL t5i's. At least I may have a starting point. Right now I feel really lost. Concerned that the REL's are not going to work for me. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Tom

      Thanks for watching. I understand your frustrations. Experimentation is the key. You should move your Rel sub all around your room to help find the best location. Rel has a lot of information on their web site on how to best set up their subs. I can tell you my settings but they won't necessarily work for you since your room will be different. For crossover frequency, I set the Rel at about Noon which sets the point at 75hz-80hz. Typically I believe the sub level is not more than a quarter turn up. Again, I would research the Rel site for more information.

    why dont u just cut the supplied cable to length?

    Why not just cut down the REL cable?

    • @DIYHiFiLife
      @DIYHiFiLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. You could cut the supplied cable but then you don't have that option if you need a longer cable later on. Also, I find the extra third ground wire messy and like to have things tidy. Also, the cable I use is much higher guage which may or may not be better. REL sells a very expensive cable upgrade which is of higher guage as well.

      I think the length of the cable specified by rel is so that people can cut it down to the desired length. That said, I kept it at the length for future resell purposes and made my own Rel cables out of Canare cables and the female spekon connector from parts express. Pretty simple if you’re not intimidated by some light soldering

      @@t0nyxgq just bot Canare 4s11G cable & new SpeakOn connector. Can the wires be screwed on without soldering?

    • @t0nyxgq
      @t0nyxgq 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AudioTnT I think so. The speakons should have screws in them to secure the wire. However, I remember having a difficult time because the space is tight and they do slip if they're not tight enough. The solder helps to keep it in place.
