You can still buy Dolphin torches. They run about $25-30. They've got 253 lumen LED lights in them now, but still use a 6v lantern battery. Average life of 75 hours battery life.
I always liked chasing squid over weedy banks instead of rocks. Seemed to work better for me.

Morning girls and boys, great episode. About the Dolphin torch, I have a mate that is a bit of a Dinosoar. I noticed a dolphin "type" torch on his bench last week, but, I looked at the front and it had four led, yellow bulbs ..... that would work I think.

I reckon Dolphin torches probably still the most reliable apart from battery life, you can get LED dolphin torches now battery life significantly improved but with still the old disposable battery

I still have a dolphin torch but have a replacement led bulb I got from bunnings still not as bright as the modern leds but takes a beating & still works not like some of the new stuff lol.

yep, two Dolphin torches onboard my yacht, one has an LED the other is regular. From Bunnings. Keep one in the cockpit and the other inside for emergency.
Just be careful when you're walking around Myora reef with a hand spear as it's a green zone.

best torch i bought couple yrs back was the lighthouse torch and it had a 1100 metre beam on it and charged up with USB cord, bought it at bunnings.
