i can't fathom how old this video is now, how old i am now lol its still one of the best onboard skyline soundgasms ever created. Kudos to the Skyline, the driver and the editor.
Agreed on the practicing of rev matching on the down shifts. If I was going to drive a 600hp GTR I would be learning to heel toe pretty quickly after going through a few clutches.
If you drop engine oil in a hot exhaust it doesn't produce black smoke. Black smoke is usually due to over fuelling / rich map. Engine / turbo ware is more likely to cause white / grey smoke :-)
Dude. Watch a lot of these kinds of videos. Personally, this is the nicest skyline I've heard! Sound sweet through the whole rev range. Love the driving too! (I may be slightly bias, as an r32 is my ultimate car! Peace
I have a lhd converted r32 gtr that i would sell, provided i can figure out a way to export it out of my home country, Chile. How much would you pay for one?
If I recall correctly from a most recent driving instruction (because I enjoy updating techniques yearly), I believe his hands are in the correct position because they are in the drivers most comfortable area to maintain control of his vehicle. Also, I don't believe I read where he was actually racing the car, but going through the RPM to allow the viewer to hear the sound of the car, causing the catchword "soundgasm," which it captures greatly.
Thank you, I was actually wondering who was right, because I've been told so much about this car and everybody thinks they know everything. Thanks man.
It's a AWD drift you knobs. If you knew anything you would know that 600hp can easily break traction on street tyres and the fact that he's even got traction, bar giving it heaps on the corner but can't hold the drift and he has to hammer down to drive it out, it's obvious. Do your research on stock gts-t's. Nice car/driving A++
It's rwd drifting. On the r32 gtr you just wire a switch to the awd fuse so you can switch between awd and rwd. Also the r32 is rwd 99% of the time anyway, it only becomes 4wd when the rear wheels achieve excess slip and the car then sends up to 50% of the power to the front wheels to regain traction. GODZILLA!
its actually rwd until the rear axle detects excessive slip and it can then send uo to 50% of the power to the front. but a common modification is to wire a toggle switch into the awd fuse so you can disable the awd system all together by the flick of a switch and have rwd fun, hence the ability to drift the car in this video Venom Snake
Learn to downshift properly and heel and toe before your corners. Will get you better times and ur clutch, gearbox and engine will thank you after a hard run on the track. Too many people out there with powerful cars that really can't put the time in to learn proper driving. Why put so much time and money into mods when making urself a better driver and learning proper cornering and rev matching will give you better results out of a car.
647killa He's obviously not racing here, man. This is just a cruise and a bit of a squirt. Probably best to wait to se ehow he actually races before unfurling your diploma of TH-cam and handing out the advice.
now it's mainly used when racing as it allows the motor to be in the right rev range after a downshift (and so less engine braking and no wheel blocking). not doing it doesnt mean that the gearbox is going to be damaged
Except you can dish out money and have it converted to LHD. A good example is the UAE, where RHD must be converted to LHD. If you look at this guy's dash you can see it's aftermarket.
LOLHICRONO Ah, I never knew anything about the other countries lol. But I do agree, I did notice the weird-ish dash, not condemning this guy, as hes got a nice car, but still weird seein an R32 with lhd lol
it doesn't have a blow off valve. thats the sound you get when you dont have one, the pressure between the thottle body and the turbo has nowhere to go when the throttle body is closed so the air comes out of the turbo itself.
Anybody has any info on how this guy got that car??? The car is left hand drive. All the way back when I was a kid we heard rumors about Nissan making some R32s that were left hand drive but I never saw one till just now. The dashboard looks R32 factory dashboard (well at least to me it looks like a factory one) so how and where did this guy got this car. Some one please help me with this because I'm just holding the order on my R32 just because I saw this and when I said that I'm holding the order is that I was about to make the order today!!!
yeah I tend to agree with you too I do heel and toe sometimes and I do feel the difference it's smoother. it's the synchros that can take damages (and also the clutch obviously) and when you're "heel and toeing" you do the job of the synchros simple as that :) but hey, when driving an everyday car at 60mph it's not really important but has to be done when racing. indeed
Have to wonder though, where did he get a left hand drive Skyline. To the best of my knowledge they were only ever for the Japanese/Asia Pacific market and never made for North America. Unless some of the European variants were left hand? Or is this a Silvia(240ZX) conversion?
I agree with you that it is mainly used in races because it helps you break not only using breaks. Wheel blocking wont happen unless you hit the brakes very hard. But downshifting without using tip-heel could cause several problems to the car being transmission the most affected one and also the clutch .If you try the same downshifting both ways, you will feel the difference in the gearbox, try it. I can assure you that the gearbox can suffer some damage, doing downshifts with clutch only.
if its abrupt letting go of the clutch upon down shifting, damage can occur in both the gearbox and clutch, on the long term your conrod bearings also suffer but this is minimal 'wear and tear' however if you slowly let go of the clutch upon downshifting it shouldnt damage the gearbox or the bearings at all.. it will only affect the clutch plate because its wearing due to the difference in rotational speed. so its slipping essentially. this is not ideal but like i said reduces the likely hood of damaging other components.
That flutter or dose sound is when the bov isnt capable of dispersing enough boost pressure, thus causing the boost to go back out through the compressor, known as compressor stall. though I'd love a bov that dumped like that :)
I know the guy is cruising, but one of the points of going on to the track is to try out these thing. And no transimission whining (yet), the car seems to be in pretty good shape overall. Great car, but I would have loaded a little bit more punch and most of all corner speed on it. That's one of the main reasons to take your car on the track right?
I agree with you Dolby109, That's why find it weird that he can hold a decent drift but he didn't heel & toe, was it by choice or he hasn't learnt yet? No wrong or right just an observation.
I know the GTS-T is, but the GTR is AWD, or so I've been told by numerous sources. I know removing a simple fuse can disable power to the front wheels in the R33 GTR, I was thinking maybe this is the same. GTRs have always contained the HICAS AWD system, correct or am I wrong?
its bov flutter. not surge. it happens at low boost when someone uses a strong bov spring so it doesnt get blown open at higher boost pressure. i get bov flutter all day at anything less than 10 psi.
my neighbor has an r32 gts-t, which he said was a pain in the @$$ to register. its garage kept and he only drives it to the grocery store due to the strict laws here in cali, and fear of seize/impound. he was going to put an ls1 in it, but instead swapped in an rb26dett from an r34 (from japan). I drove it to 7-11 once, and it got more eyes than a Lamborghini aventador in Hollywood blvd. it's really comfortable, plus the shifter is nice and smooth.
i'd say it's a 240sx coupe, that someone modified to appear as a skyline, and as we can all tell, it is far from being a GTR. GTR is AWD not rear, and if anything, it could be a GTS-T that was converted to left hand drive using 240sx steering bits
It's a GTR, not sure why you would think it's a 240sx coupe, GTR's are also RWD bias and when you add a bunch of power doing slides like this is very easy.
Whatever that wagon is that was in front of him (Subaru maybe?) was definitely a sleeper. That thing was accelerating and sliding around the curves like a freakin boss!
i meant as in there are lhd skylines out there, russia is a good example that some countries only allow the registering of lhd cars, i know that this video is from norway, which it was* possible to register rhd cars in, but not anymore
I have a question if anyone can answer, you know the sound the turbo makes right in the beginning as soon as he pulls off to start the lap, when he lets go of the gas to shift to the next gear, like at 1:09, I want to know does it matter how big the engine is in order for that sound to be louder and more clear? or does it depend on how strong the turbo is? or what is it that makes that 'turbo sound', sound so clear
yea but how come some cars do that spooling up sound, while others just do a "shhh" sound where it just sounds like air coming out, kind of like a minimized sound a truck makes when it stops
ok thanks, but why in some other cars it just sounds like one "shhhh" sound while this video the car's turbo blow off sounds like "CH CH ch ch" if you can understand me lol
DriftXperience27 when it makes the flutter sound it's compressor surge and the noise is air blowing backwards through the moving turbo. When its a solid "Whoosh" noise its a blowoff valve letting that air out before it reaches the turbo.
First off, nice car! Im a fan of skylines, but Im not particularly fond of right hand drive vehicles. I noticed that, when you let off of the throttle, you can hear the turbo make a kind of sputtering noise. You probably already know this, but this is caused by leftover pressure from your turbo having no place to go once your throttle closes. This results in your pressurized air surging and pushing back on the turbo, which can be harmful to your turbo. I would recommend a better BOV.
the nissan skyline never came into the us. Due to the high emission regulations and the safety tests, it was never allowed because nissan didnt want to send 10 skylines for crash tests. i think you're mistaken for the nissan 240sx( 200sx in europe, nissan silvia in japan). those are RHD in japan but LHD in us.
the rb26 came stock in gtr r32, gtr r33 , gtr r34.... only difference between 32,33 and 34 is that the 32 and 33 were 5 spd and 34 was 6 spd. this GTR has a single turbo rb26 under the hood...
True :/ I don't get why people hate on Rota, those wheels are already right. Now maybe weight/strength ratio will change, but for heavy rims I guess you're right : Rotas will perfectly do the job.
What kind of dash did they fit in there? as far as I knew there were only a handful of skylines that were left hand drive ? I'd love to own a left hand drive skyline in europe!
Why doesn't the driver heel and toe on the downshifts to match the revs? He rather slip the clutch the clutch on the downshifts, which wears the clutch. Try to drive that way in a RWD and you'll be in the gravel traps in no time (especially in the rain) as its easy to lock the rear. Unless you do it on purpose to get the rear out to drift.
This is a good video, well shot. The car is very nice indeed, but let's be clear about the soundgasm. I have ridden in these types of cars for hundreds of miles, the sound gets old fast. You can't even hear the engine, just rushing air, the blow-off valve, and the drone of an aftermarket muffler on a 6 cylinder (Supras included). A soundgasm would be a naturally aspirated engine such as an F1 car or a n.a. 911 on a road coarse such as the one you see in the video. But otherwise, props!
That's technically the same as no blow off valve then. If the throttle body closes the air has to go somewhere so it recirculates back into the turbo. Either way its bad for the turbo since its hitting against the turbos fins.
What country are they mostly sold as left hand drive? Anyone notice the R34 looks a lot more like the R32? Guess the R33 is the oddball but I'd still take it lol
according to wikipedia its nearly impossible to import a skyline to the u.s do to the Federal motor vehicle safety standards. If its not 21 years old and in its original configuration, is exempt from Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) standards. Search for a webpage called "showordisplay
A wastegate is something different. What you are hearing in this vid is probably the Blow Off Valve, this is a device that let's off pressurized intake air from the turbo when the air inlet valve in the intake manifold suddenly shuts (when u change gears),when you take your foot of the accelerator upon accelerating hard. The turbo is spinning up and pushing air to towards your intake manifold and then all of a sudden the air has nowhere to go (but back to the turbo which u don't want!) so the BOV let's it escape. This ensures the turbo isn't suddenly slowed down by the back pressure of the intake air, so it spins up faster after you're done with your gear change and the engine is building up revs and boost again. This is what a Blow Off Valve is for. It protects your turbo and it helps in keeping boost high.
Walter E. Kurtz Wow, that went above my knowledge. Due to the name in swedish i have always thought they are the same thing! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us less knowing people! =D
Whenever I'm having a bad day - I turn on this video, put on my headphones, close my eyes, lean back and let all my worries slip away. Thank you.
Never seen a LHD r32 before
+DP Snead Homemade
Earl Sweatjacket there are alot LHD r32 in the philippines bro
Earl Sweatjacket same is it a conversion ?
The Stigs Guyanese Cousin yes it is but u can find alot of converted ones in philipines
a lot of LHD converted r32s here in the gulf countries (DUBAI for idiots)
Finally found it. R32 Skyline, never even crossed my mind. Still, this thing sounds amazing.
i can't fathom how old this video is now, how old i am now lol
its still one of the best onboard skyline soundgasms ever created.
Kudos to the Skyline, the driver and the editor.

312 people drive r32 golfs'
When did they make a R32 Left hand drive?
He got it converted from RHD to LHD... Not a cheap process...
I think i read in the comments that the video was just flipped
Then the license plates on the cars ahead would be flipped too? Didn't look like they were
Andrew Rilley Look at the handbrake, its on the left side witch is stock placement
It's on the right... Look closer
Nice driving! Respect to the others on the track. You have a rad car and nice skills!
Dude. Watch a lot of these kinds of videos. Personally, this is the nicest skyline I've heard! Sound sweet through the whole rev range. Love the driving too! (I may be slightly bias, as an r32 is my ultimate car!
Peace
why can't we get these LHD cars in Canada??? I've never seen one! this is something I would buy should I get the opportunity.
Must be converted to LHD
+SerenityNow add me on skype : xikawa i can tell you where you get them
I have a lhd converted r32 gtr that i would sell, provided i can figure out a way to export it out of my home country, Chile. How much would you pay for one?
+Jano.RS13 I'd pay 15,000 tops for a stock and more if it's modified
+dyllman98 mine would be BPU i guess, wanna know more? write me: drlightspeed at msn.com
This is honestly one of my favorite car videos on youtube
very nice video, awesome car (except the paint ;)), but very crowded track :) This skylines are my motivation to earn money!
Nice skyline but LOOK AT THAT WAGON
that wagon has some moves LOL
Lol
the catback camera showing the flames gave me goosebumps :P
Heel Toe Pls - No soundgasm without rev matching
Thank you, I was actually wondering who was right, because I've been told so much about this car and everybody thinks they know everything. Thanks man.
dident even know a left hand drive existed
+mrdriver511 You can get almost any car converted.
As you can see the dash has been chopped and glued back.
It's not about travelling at the speed of light. It's about having fun
uff too much smoke, guide valves?
read my mind. you saved me extra keystrokes. this vid had so much potential
It's a AWD drift you knobs. A stock r32 rb20det could drift that corner easily all day long on less than half the amount of hp..
GODZILLA!

+hilldawg the R32 GTR is entirely AWD, yes there is a rear bias to the power, but it's more like 65% not 99%
its actually rwd until the rear axle detects excessive slip and it can then send uo to 50% of the power to the front. but a common modification is to wire a toggle switch into the awd fuse so you can disable the awd system all together by the flick of a switch and have rwd fun, hence the ability to drift the car in this video Venom Snake
This was filmed at Gatebil. That station wagon probably had around 10,000hp.
3:19 3:26 really?-_-"
there are skylines out there that are left had drive i think a few came in NZ and england but their extremely rare.
I think he's a good driver, but strange event. Half drift school half track day. Some nice cars though!
that sound is my destiny.....dream car right here and now bro. thumbs miles up ;D
yep,,,,, left hand drive skyline
дима Васильев at least is still a skyline right?
Norway Rudskogen ?

thats something i noticed first when '' he '' downshift

This guy is afraid .
I think it's the first lap.
i dont subscribe often... but when i do its for videos that are of the highest quality like this one
R32 gtr was never left hand drive
Exactly my point!
Probably swapped from a GTS. Their steering systems are pretty much identical.
The GTS wasn't LHD either I don't think. (I'm from America, so these cars coveted and rare here, so I could be wrong)
I literally loved the video! Thank you, it was amazing!
5:18
also in some parts of europ they did make left hand drive skylines very rare to see one tho
I think it stands for gran turismo (grand touring) racer, the engine is an RB26
Still up for grabs for a better driver! We still
R32 awesomeness... sweet driving skills too, for a moment it looked like organised chaos out there on the track!
it doesn't have a blow off valve.
thats the sound you get when you dont have one, the pressure between the thottle body and the turbo has nowhere to go when the throttle body is closed so the air comes out of the turbo itself.

This is not an orignal LHD R32, he flipped the dashboard. As you can see it was RHD before as the handbrake lever is on the right side of the shifter.
that's quite a nice vocabulary you got there .. i'm pretty sure you have a skyline too and you know how to drive way more better than anyone else .
you forget about the hicas lock out kit, its all part of the 4wd in a gtr, dont forget the things you can get too choose between 4wd and rwd aswell.
how to find a track like this to practice on?
Everytime I search for a racetrack on google maps all I get is NASCAR stuff and some gas station.
because of excess unburnt fuel usually, doesnt do it when its spinning at 3000RPM plus just when its at lower revs due to the fuelling set up i guess
yeah I tend to agree with you too
I do heel and toe sometimes and I do feel the difference it's smoother.
it's the synchros that can take damages (and also the clutch obviously) and when you're "heel and toeing" you do the job of the synchros

correct me if im wrong but i believe some were made left hand drive for certain country's

I know the guy is cruising, but one of the points of going on to the track is to try out these thing. And no transimission whining (yet), the car seems to be in pretty good shape overall.
Great car, but I would have loaded a little bit more punch and most of all corner speed on it.
That's one of the main reasons to take your car on the track right?
incredible, so much power under your control.. intense.
I agree with you Dolby109, That's why find it weird that he can hold a decent drift but he didn't heel & toe, was it by choice or he hasn't learnt yet? No wrong or right just an observation.
cant find anymore of this anywhere, had a good look around too..... Anyone have any luck?
Loving the sierra cosworth estate. He couldn't catch him until he stopped racing. Cossie fan :)
in a gtr skyline you can change it from awd to rwd by pulling a fuse out or make a switch like people have been doing
Could be that or a disconnected MAF sensor, but the engine definately sounds fine.
I know the GTS-T is, but the GTR is AWD, or so I've been told by numerous sources. I know removing a simple fuse can disable power to the front wheels in the R33 GTR, I was thinking maybe this is the same. GTRs have always contained the HICAS AWD system, correct or am I wrong?

smoke out the exhaust is due to high compression rates on most tuned cars, not because they are badly tuned. Oil gets burned.
es gibt kein auto wo der sound so geil ist wie dieser echt heftig ----> that video are awesome Perfect *
You mean the gold Volvo or the black Ford Sierra wagon at beginning?
i'd say it's a 240sx coupe, that someone modified to appear as a skyline, and as we can all tell, it
is far from being a GTR.
You must understand the attessa system my friend
Whatever that wagon is that was in front of him (Subaru maybe?) was definitely a sleeper. That thing was accelerating and sliding around the curves like a freakin boss!
Can someone tell me what it is that makes the car sound like that when he up shifts and down shifts
It's called "Blow Off" sound.
it is the blow off valve for the turbo.
they are just there to release excess pressure from the boost of the turbo
David Henk its actually the turbo fluttering as well as the BoV
the flutter is from the bov
i meant as in there are lhd skylines out there, russia is a good example that some countries only allow the registering of lhd cars, i know that this video is from norway, which it was* possible to register rhd cars in, but not anymore
Where did the LEFT HAND DRIVE interior pieces come from, yo?!!
That turbo sounds amazing.

Ohhhh thank you soo much i get it now.
First off, nice car! Im a fan of skylines, but Im not particularly fond of right hand drive vehicles. I noticed that, when you let off of the throttle, you can hear the turbo make a kind of sputtering noise. I love how he describes the sound of the car "soundgasm" xD
what kind of BOV it that and how can you make it flutter like that w/o messing up the turbo, I love the way it sounds
the rb26 came stock in gtr r32, gtr r33 , gtr r34.... only difference between 32,33 and 34 is that the 32 and 33 were 5 spd and 34 was 6 spd. this GTR has a single turbo rb26 under the hood...
i was going to ask the same question... just got another r32 gtr and would want to switch if possible...
That's blowing a LOT of black smoke around 6:10... Something wrong with the turbo?
Sweet gtr that thing is a beast, awesome video.
True :/ I don't get why people hate on Rota, those wheels are already right. Now maybe weight/strength ratio will change, but for heavy rims I guess you're right : Rotas will perfectly do the job.
was that a sierra wagon in front at the start
What kind of dash did they fit in there? as far as I knew there were only a handful of skylines that were left hand drive ? I'd love to own a left hand drive skyline in europe!
Usually a sign of issue/s with the OIL feed to Turbo? Maybe its just ran rich as fuck with plenty of advanced timing.
2:22 light black car .. did this dude lost the way to the supermarket or what ?
Wow those drifts with awd are crazy...are we sure it's not a GTS-T Skyline?
GTR's are rwd bias, factory control for it sends to most of the power to the rear wheels.
Good to know. I thought the AWD was more rally style with a more 50-50.
road tires
R32 GTR skylines can be easily converted to RWD only simply by pulling a fuse. Many owners mount switches so they can be AWD or RWD.
That is good to know. I was never aware of that. Makes it nice if you want to hoon and go sideways of if you want to be grippy and fast.
@MofexGaming each time you shift and especially downshift the clutch get damaged, proof is that you get engine braking..
I could listen to this sweet musical instrument all day rb forever
Why is the steering Wheel on the left side??
Danish Ghosts They were all made in japan and they were all rhd, this is a conversion.
How the LEFT HAND DRIVE DID YOU DO THIS LEFT HAND DRIVE SETUP!!!!!!!
+exodus LHD conversion :>
I have, have you heard of Walter Röhrl? Those are exeptional drivers, but unfortunately not the norm.
Because the owner/driver is Norwegian, and is more comfortable with having the wheel on the left?
What country are they mostly sold as left hand drive? Anyone notice the R34 looks a lot more like the R32? Guess the R33 is the oddball but I'd still take it lol
I love how that old ford he overtakes in the end actually keeps up (see left mirror)
according to wikipedia its nearly impossible to import a skyline to the u.s do to the Federal motor vehicle safety standards. If its not 21 years old and in its original configuration, is exempt from Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) standards. Search for a webpage called "showordisplay
@JaackBrownTV The wastegate blowingoff?
