  • My reaction to Fade to Black from live concert in Lincoln NE.
This video is a start of my channel and this song is amazingly beautiful - it is now one of my favorite songs. Intro and solo so toughing and his vocal full of pure pain. No complain!
    Lyrics.
Life it seems to fade away
    Drifting further everyday
    Getting lost within myself
    Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
    Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
    Missing one inside of me
Deathly loss this can't be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
    Emptiness is filling me
    To the point of agony
    Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me but now, he's gone
No one but me can save myself, but its too late
Now I can't think, think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye
    Goodbye

That last "goodbye" isn't a goodbye to problems, it's a man saying goodbye to the world right before committing suicide. This song was written when their gear got stolen after a show and they were thinking if they should keep going or just quit and i'm sooo thankful that they decided to keep going :)

Very sad lyrics. Growing up in the US during the 80’s it wasn’t acceptable to be depressed, and no one talked about it. You were looked at as a freak. For a lot of metal heads who were struggling with similar feelings, this song let them know they weren’t alone. One of their best. Cheers!

If you like lyrics, I can’t wait until you get to the Jinjer rabbit hole. Start with Pisces (live session). Next should be Perennial live at Wacken. But they’re all great lyrics on top of great musicianship.

    Great reaction!
I was in the front row and was lucky enough to fist bump Kirk on his way to the stage. They had to stretch out Kirk's back during Rob's bass solo (Anesthesia). I don't think it was in the setlist but you could tell Kirk was hurting so I think they did it to give Kirk some time. They stretched him out on a table right in front of us for a few minutes. Guys are getting old but still sound fantastic after all these years.

I love watching your reactions to my favourite band. I’ve been a fan of Metallica since I’ve been a teenager (I’m 41 now), and this song’s lyrics are still relevant today. Not bad for a 36 year old song. And your husband should be punished for not taking his wife to see them live.

I YOU 😆Serves him right. Anyway he shouldn’t punish you for something he started anyway.
Keep up the reactions. 👍 Definitely recommend One from them. This is the song that started me loving them.
Other band recommendations are Within Temptation (been a fan for not as long but they are my 2nd favourite), another is Baby Metal, only got into them recently (they are a fusion of J Pop and metal) surprising it just works somehow. Listen to their new album Metal Galaxy, it’s good. React to Pa Pa Ya (music video is on TH-cam).

How do you put slight waves in your hair? PS. when I was in High school. I had a band brought together to play Fade to Black. Everyone enjoyed it.
