Sucks your saying this about this song. Guitar World Magazine did a ballot for Metallicas best song this was number 1 on the list! This song has always been my favorite! Listen to the studio version and read the lyrics.

Honestly, in terms of this version, she's spot on. It's not very good audio (old recording, no one to blame really) so she can't really enjoy the intricacies of the studio version. This video circulates the youtube reaction world because of the show itself and not because of it's musical value - she got that spot on as well. She recognizes Jameses signature moves very well because she's got a good ear. Except for the massive crowd, there's not much to appreciate about this video. Her observations are better than most others you will find. I agree with her also in regard to what people suggest to her to react to - same ol, same ol...

  • @Un4GivNX

Good reaction! :) when you asked why we should not enjoy post-black album and stuff: it's like falling in love with someone because of [she's fun, she's smart, she's understanding]. But after a few years with that person, new traits are discovered. Some are good, some are bad. We can live with those bad traits but the person has evolved and may not represent the initial person you first fell in love with. You don't HAVE to still fully love that person, he/she changed.
    Old metallica was agressive, fast.
    New metallica is slower, different.
    Both can be good.
But if you fell in love for specific reason and over time, those traits are changing, it is normal to be disappointed.
Some other person may dislike old metallica because they fell in love with the new one, which is noticeably different.

There are millions of us who love ALL of Metallica's music. That is why I say to newer listeners to listen to it yourself and make your own decisions. I know quite a few people who didn't like the albums back in the 90's or never gave the 90's albums a try only to revisit them now and fall in love with them. SO take suggestions but I'd say make you own decisions by listening yourself and deciding what you like .

13:11 - 13:37 You're adorable!! Love your energy and the randomness of what you do during some of these longer songs.
I also think it is so important what you said about bands needing to be able to create different types of music, rather than just sticking to one certain sound. Very well said, what you said in that part of the video. To stick to only one style is to stagnate and not evolve.
And, uh, if Lars meets you at a Whole Foods store and you go up to him, he's not running away, I can pretty much assure you of that... 🙂

As everyone else likely said, this is an adaptation of the biblical book of Exodus. The sound quality is probably affecting how much of the melody you're picking up, this video is more an exposition of the spectacle :)
Dynamic energy, yes... the band having a million people literally wrapped around their finger and *loving* it.
People who are telling you the albums after Black are bad are just... some people will personally dislike something and demand that nobody else can like it. Self-centered thinkers.

To help you understand the song, it is about the 10 plagues God released on Egypt when the Pharaoh didn't listen to God and kept the Jewish people enslaved , a story from the Old Testament of the Christian Bible . Creeping Death is the last of the 10 plagues and it was an Angel of Death sent by God to kill all the 1st born sons of the Egyptians including the Pharaoh's 1st born son as penance for their sins and not heeding the words of God. I hope that helps you to understand the song better. It's really an awesome song :-)

Truth , there isn't a bad Metallica album. The music is still heavy and good. Just a little different from the 80's and many don't even give it a chance. I say try something from all the albums and make your own , informed , decision on what you think is good and what isn't. ( St Anger is the closest to a bad album you can get for Metallica in most people's opinions ).

Well, it's near Moscow... Tushino airfield, then a military airbase. You're probably more well versed in the history of this than I can ever be, but a few months earlier was the attempted military coup against Gorbachev when he was on vacation. The youth of the city help stop that, and as a reward the Monsters of Rock concert series was given a venue to reward them. This is a month or so before the Soviet Union dissolved, which is why the security forces are still uniformed; they're still Soviet army. The concert was free, which is why the crowd estimates ranged from 500,000 to 1,600,000.... so many people arrived that the tickets soon became useless and they just threw open the 'doors' and let everyone in.

the difference is you were watching a live performance video where you can actually listen to the album without the crowd there too and you can also listen to the album with the if you want to hear it clearly that's what you need to doand you want to get it with the lyrics so it post a nurse up there so you can understand what it's saying I would suggest that for every band every song at least once so you understand what the message is behind it instead of just hearing and seeing the live performance you need to watch that too but first you should listen to the album version without the crowd with the lyrics everytime that way you'll understand what it is you're listening to then go and see a live performance when you're used to it understand

This show was in 1991, this song is one of the fan favorites from their very first album "Kill 'Em All" which came out in the summer of '83! As for what happened with the "Black album", many Metallica fans didn't like the sudden change in direction - more melodic, even "slow songs" like "Nothing Else Matters" and gave them a lot of crap for supposedly "selling out", especially when they decided to get haircuts...in interviews that followed they are known for saying, "Sold out? Absolutely, everywhere we play." Enough said!

Metallica was a Heavy Metal band that got ZERO airplay on the radio in the US. So they got their following from doing concerts and their fans spreading information about them. The black album is widely considered a sell-out album. They left behind their Heavy Metal roots for to be more commercial. It was also around this time that it came out how badly they treated their new bassist Jason Newstead, who had the impossible job of replacing Cliff Burton. Then Lars Ulrich decided to go after Napster for sharing their music even though he openly used Napster to download other bands music.

Metallica's style changed after the black album...many said they sold out to the corporate world. But to survive in the business and to bring in more fans sometimes you have to change. I dont hate them for that, its their livlihood. That being said I only listen to their music from the black album and back.

go to the album and listen to it on it with the lyrics and you'll understand it it's out of the Bible and it's a lot clearer without the crowd

Yes. ALL of Moscow. Tbh, this video isn't so much about the music as it is about the crowd.

did you really just get up to walk around and play with toys during kirk's solo?? lol i think its hilarious you're trying to tell fans they should like all their music and not just up to the black album
i started listening to metallica in '85 and i tried so many times to listen to all their stuff after the black album but its just not for me, and i have had people try call me out and say i wasn't a true fan, i was a die hard fan long before they became really popular

After hearing what you said, you should listen to all Metallica albums!
i grew up listening to them since i was a teenager, and i had some preferences in Metallica albums of course, but i did hear all the songs because that's what you do if you love a band :)

In the video I can see Lars pointing at Beavis in a sea of Russians with guns pointing at them.

    Love your channel
I couldn’t have said it better myself regarding peoples’ distaste for a slightly changed musical style of a band over time.
It doesn’t mean that the whole band is crap or that none of their music is any good any more.
Perhaps the overall style has changed and that band isn’t their favorite anymore, and that’s fine, right?

Guess the qoute: are you guys gansters or something? No, we're Russians. (Hint brother 2)😅
This song was fun the time I saw them perform it, the whole audience chanting DIE! DIE! DIE! While the band is singing "Die, by my hand, I creep across the land".

Estimated over 1 million people. The song is about the story of the pass over from the Bible.
