Oldest Dive in Saint Paul Minnesota The Spot Bar - Tour and History

This hole in the wall has been standing since 1885, and though the name has changed (many times) over the years, the warm hospitality hasn't. This is the bar at the end of the block - a great place to grab a cheap beer and maybe win a T-bone (on Friday nights anyway).

I grew up a half mile west and a mile north of The Spot Bar. Drove past it many times, but it might as well have been ages away since it was down the bluffs and across the railroad tracks. The priest who was the Director of my Catholic Middle School grew up a block to the East, and told us of him watching his father take the streetcar past his house to go there. A high school classmate "PM" says that his grandparents were immigrants in the neighborhood and that this was his family bar, to the point that his father drank there in high school in his JROTC uniform. The Spot is definitely a landmark in Saint Paul!

I have been here for 32 years on Randolph.And it is a very quite place it surrounded by more than 32 other bars in a 3 mile radius from downtown

I used to play on a dart league representing the Spot Bar....the 1st year we played , we took 1st place that gave the Spot bar it's 1st ever Dart plaque in 2004. I'm sure there are more now. I loved hanging out there. 🎯
