    We really like the press spacers, could use those a lot also you did great mounting that tube to the channel iron for the press, we are tired of losing these specialized press parts around here, thank you for that idea Randy. My name is Lance, so yes I am favoring your Lance Lathe, LOL. Nice crank, good work. Two of your California Desert dweller viewers say thank you Randy.

    Denatured alcohol is mainly Ethanol. That illustrates one of the issues of using high Ethanol content fuel in engines that weren't designed for it. Oh, and the rest of the video was great, too!

    Love the handwheel retrofit. The idea of the 3D printing oil cups is neat. I have modified paint cups with stems to do the same. Your spot on the drill sharpener, my SRD is tricky to get correct. So there’s a learning curve there

    How about a recess on the bottom of the cup where you can glue in a weight or magnet. WOW....nice drill sharpener. Lucky guy Randy. Nice tips too. Thanks for sharing.

    Great video Randy. I have a sharpener like yours I have never used, mostly because of a lack of room in my shop. I think you should do a video on it when you get it figured out. Might get me inspired.

    Cool idea for the oil pots, they look nice. I hadn't heard of a threaded taper pin on machinery handles, that's a cool idea. As a mechanic I've seen many tapers with threads on the end (ball joints, tie rod ends, etc) but none with the thread used to disengage the taper as well as secure it. Very cool idea.

    This was like a lightning round! I had no idea that an enclosure for a 3d printer would help that much. When I get mine back on-line, I'll have to get a nice moving box to put it in.

    I think the base of that old Permatex gasket goop is shellac, so that's why the denatured works on it.

    • @RRINTHESHOP
      @RRINTHESHOP  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I think you are correct. Shellac is a great gasket material on its own used for metal to metal tight fits.

    I see a new marketing bit - buy two scribes and 5 drill bits sharpened - free! Hahahah
    That removable taper pin was serious clever. Too bad Bubba done drilled off center.

    I have only seen a threaded taper pin once before and it seems like a great idea. Weird hand cranks on the lathe. You would think it would be designed better, great fix. That looks like my Atlas 10 inch. It must have fallen over before I owned it and someone fixed it just like you did. Take care Randy

      I have used taper pins with a thread and nut on the small end, but never like this. It sure works good for this use.

    I sure like the oiler you sent. It was featured in a video within minutes of its arrival. Thats t ips #503 , but will not be published for a month. Your printer doghouse is just like mine--only I have no skylight. lol Mine made all my problems go away. Have a great trip.

    That's probably why some of the 3D printers are enclosed. Never knew that made a difference.

    Nice little grinder. The G&L has threaded taper pins but they are external threaded for nuts that you can use to pull the tapered pin since there is no access to the other side.

    Cool use of a cardboard box Randy! Nifty oil cups!
    Like that compound dial - can see why the original was such a pain.
    Drill sharpener seems to have potential... almost any devices seem to present some problems with getting angles just right. Bet you'll get it sorted.

    About the Darex grinder, here I have some of those holders, like the one on the left, the one on the right and another one, don't have the set-up block like the one on top of the grinder, and, not having the grinder...
    Like you say the instructions are quite imprecise about the use...
    I'll get in touch later when I get some free time and see with you what coulb be done since I'd like to do something with my own parts if not too much trouble.

    I really like your removable, threaded taper pin. I don't think I have ever seen that anywhere. Have you, or is it a Randy original idea? Also, you have to wonder if they free hand drilled the original taper pin hole.

    Shrinkage from cold air is never good, great low cost enclosure. I only print ABS and the enclosure keeps the smell down too. If you print the oil cups in ABS then acetone dip them it will seal up any layer separation.....i might print one and try just that this week.

    My wife is a translator. She used to work with Korean companies, translating their instruction manuals into English. I was always dragged into the deal to help with the engineering/technical side. Some things just don't translate directly and some translators just give up trying and they throw together a document and send it out.

    Interesting, I don’t have that problem with my prints on my Prusa Mk3. What filament are you using for your boxes, PLA? The other thing you do is use tape on your bed. I found if I just clean the bed sheet with 91% Isopropyl between before any print and my prints stick without tape or adhesive. Maybe I’m just lucky?

    • @danharold3087
      @danharold3087 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There seems to be no logic as to what works for each person regarding how to treat the bed.
