Good sir. I bought a Kauai Love Flute and Bamboo sax from you 20+ years ago. They have held up wonderfully (if a bit under handled). This is the year I promise to master them both. Thank you for terrific craftsmanship that has given me years of noodling fun.

    Hi Erik-
Really hope you see this message on time! A tremendous congratulations to 50 years of Flutemaking. Enormously proud of your artistry.
You get so many messages I doubt that you remember me! I was the young girl who wrote you years ago (now my Nan's account) about a saxophone/my bookwriting- and striking a deal with you in an trade/ exchange. I wrote a long message to you on the order part of your website- not having yet seen the arabian sax.
We just placed an order for the first time a dark alto Bb saxophone- but only just saw your Arabian sax only just after- if we were to switch the order & order an arabian how would we do so? They seem truly special. As they're limited wouldn't want to miss out-! Cannot wait to play on such an enchanting/ mellow scale. Deep thanks.
    With great gratitude,
your work and your stories are truly special & love seeing the poeticism behind it all.
(love the quarantine beard! :) The sets look lovely, and love seeing the background work of the ministry.
    X -RJ
(*also I asked a Q about whether the beak & ligiture came apart from the body of the sax-
& how to clean/store and treat the humidity with a bamboo sax- in contrast to a classic sax where you must clean after each usage.
am watching your 2hr how to video now!)

Hi Ann, Erik here. Thanks for the kind note. By the way I can best be reached at info@eriktheflutemaker.com that said I can send along the Arabian Sax instead of the Bb major scale. Regards, Erik

@@ErikTheFlutemakerCom Thank you for the fast reply! We ordered the dark/carved alto Bb Sax just over 2days ago- with a long message in the order notes- but yes i can attempt re-sending it! Thank you very much- when I knew the Arabian Sax was so limited it was very hard to choose between them!- I really hope you bring them back one day- I absolutely adored the recordings of the Arabian flute and thought it must be very special indeed- seeing the scale embedded in the vessel of the saxophone/ instead of the flute was very exciting indeed..
I'm only hesitating as I know it would be best for practice purposes to go with a classic Bb scale/ but am in love with the arabian and am saddened you won't be returning them. Congrats again on 50 yrs! X Much love

@@ErikTheFlutemakerCom I know where you can be reached by email now- thank you. Just wanted to confirm- we do indeed want the alto carved Bb bamboo sax- and not the arabian sax. Another day (maybe) Sorry for any confusion. So excited to recieve it! (*update/ just sent the same confirmation message to your info email inbox ) :) Good day to you, Erik!

    • @ErikTheFlutemakerCom

Correct. We would beg the wood sellers to send us very nice wood. And only once in a while did we get it. It was too expensive to continue with such a lack of good quality. A small box of wood cost about $1,000. So we let it go.

Great video! I'm new to your channel and I'm glad I found it. I play several different flutes and am always interested in learning more. Do you have any videos of the raw sound of your flutes without the use of editing(reverb)? Thanks, Shere:)

    • @ErikTheFlutemakerCom
      @ErikTheFlutemakerCom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Shere: Musicians really get addicted to nice acoustics. So probably not. At 16 I was arrested moving through the inner areas of St. John the Devine cathedral in NYC where I discovered deep in the catacombs acoustic phenomena when my foot hit some debris on the floor that echoed. They let me go as they saw I was not a threat. Later I retuned to play in that cathedral on a radio show. And later in a huge cathedral in Amsterdam I was playing Amazing Grace and when a lady walked up to me from a back office I thought I was in trouble again. With tears in her eyes she said, this is the most beautiful thing I have heard here in my 24 years here. In a cathedral in Jerusalem I was totally taken back by the acoustics. See "Erik in Jerusalem" on youtube for that moment. So acoustics brings one to the edge of the spiritual and one wants to return often. Erik

Erik The Flutemaker Thanks for sharing Erik, I will go check out your “Erik In Jerusalem” video. I played in Lincoln Cathedral a few times and instantly fell in love with those glorious acoustics, it’s heavenly. I just wondered from a consumer standpoint if you had videos of the raw sound of your flutes for a buyer to hear before purchase. I’m interested in your flutes. Cheers, Shere

Lately, people have been suggesting that I see a counselor for all my woes and troubles and at first I would object... but then I remembered that I have not only 1 but 2 counselors! MY Counselor flute from Eriktheflutemaker.com (I traded in a little money to call it mine 😉) and the Wonderful Counselor, Jesus, Prince of Peace, who has listened to all my distress and traded it for rest. He is so good to me. 💖
