    GREAT video, thanks! I saw videos of that repair, but there was no information how to set up this synchronizer if it fall apart, now everything is clear. Now I am ready to take a risk and repair my car by myself.

    Thanks for the video!
    Did the job yesterday as I had a tiny bit of vibration when driving in 5th up to 100km/h.
    Turned out the drive gear incl. synchro etc. was still neat but the lock nut on the driven gear has came loose and so the spline on the shaft and the gear itself have worn out pretty bad. Used supertough Loctite on the spline and thread for reassembly. Vibration is gone, let's see how long :D
    Cheers

    Thanks so much for this. Going to attempt this on my 99 rav4 as soon as the parts arrive. I have one question about the puller- what size and pitch are the 3 bolts you use?

    Mine didn't pop right out it just keeps going round in circle once the puller is tight enough..what could be the problem

    • @hyundaiioniqkianiromainten3319
      @hyundaiioniqkianiromainten3319  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if you following all the steps and it just spins it sounds like incorrect puller setup

    • @hyundaiioniqkianiromainten3319
      @hyundaiioniqkianiromainten3319  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      also on the large puller screw you should have an insert that lets the screw turn, the puller arms stay stationary and pull the gear out

    Hi where did you order your parts from, or more specifically the synchro hub part? I got mine from a UAE seller on eBay and was worried it might be a fake or something with how carelessly it was debured/finished, but I see mine looks very similar to the one you installed.

      best to input your vin to an online oem retailer to get number, there can be different parts… or call another dealer with vin

    Did you have to buy any new parts for the synchronizer? I swapped the 5th gear, bearings, and sleeve but my rav still pops out of 5th

      those are the parts in the repair kit,,, maybe check the shaft for play and the other gears for wear and double check your assembly

    I decided to replace my fifth-gear sleeve, bearing, synchronizer, and hub for my 1996 RAV4 MANUAL by following multiple videos along with this post very closely 5th Gear Popping out Self-Repair. I finished just about everything except when trying to press the new hub with the old, the 12mm 1.5 thread pitch 55mm bolt (with a washer) is extremely hard to tighten and it seems to be creating a new thread on the bolt which is wider. I don't really know what to do at this point, I'm trying to see if I can find a gear pusher tool in the auto parts stores around my area. Can anyone help me out?

    • @hyundaiioniqkianiromainten3319
      @hyundaiioniqkianiromainten3319  ปีที่แล้ว

      first verify the bolt is correct… where did you get it and was the package sealed. also sounds like you will need a new bolt. you can probably clean the threads of the shaft and might need to re-tap them. thread in the new bolt without the gear to make sure it goes in good, next clean the shaft with fine sandpaper or emery cloth, spray with a light coat of lube, do same with the socket bore, you can even heat it to help it expand a little

      i bought three bolts, one of them i got at napa and the other at home depot both came in their original packaging and said 12mm, 1.5 thread pitch, and 55mm in length. I even bought a 1.25 thread pitch at home depot after both didn’t fit, i’ve yet to try the 1.75 which from what it seems is what i need because the threads in the other two are too close to each other. As far as retapping it goes would I need to do that for inside of the shaft and not outside? I’ll take pictures of the bolts and the shaft tomorrow, I’m going to try the 1.75 pitch tomorrow as well and hopefully that works out better.@@hyundaiioniqkianiromainten3319

      @hyundaiioniqkianiromainten3319  ปีที่แล้ว

      when you removed the assembly with the puller, did you use the part that goes on the end of the screw or did the screw go into the shaft threads, the threads probably got damaged at that point

    • @graymatias6872
      @graymatias6872 ปีที่แล้ว

      screw went into the shaft threads and didn’t work, then i used the attachment and it came out seems like i did mess the shaft threads up. what can i do to fix it now?@@hyundaiioniqkianiromainten3319

    Very useful video! I have the same problem on a Corolla Verso... the fifth no longer works.
    Was the split bearing the cause of the problem? (Toyota told me it was probably this 2 parts bearing...)
