    I been working on removing the fuel tank from my 2010 g6, you forgot to mention one might need a special fuel tool to remove the fuel lines, that would have saved me a lot of time . Also those electrical connections on the side of the tank were tricky to remove. I had to cut the fill neck hose because I could not budge it , loose,hopefully I can get a replacement. Those little items added

    Something I neglected to do is depressirize the gas line at the end if the motor. Lost about a gallon on my car propped it up with a spare jack stand but I tried going on empty doing this job so the tank wasn't too heavy. Still had a gallon or two in it anyways but if you want to avoid the smell that's a big tip.

    You did this in May and I'm doing it in Sep. Thank you GM for using crappy plastic hoses and creating a HUGE fire hazard. 13 years of use I guess I can't really complain.

    When reinstalling the tank, the passenger side tank strap doesnt stretch all the way to the both bolt holes, its just off by 1/4 inch. I swapped to make sure i had the right ones and the passenger has the fixed piece of rubber that sits on the rear sway bar. Any ideas on what couldve happened?

    • @Fixnit14
      @Fixnit14  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try shifting the tank itself there could be something caught that's keeping it from sitting all the down and preventing the straps from fitting properly.

      Use some channel locks, grip the hose where it's fitted to the tank and give it a twist. If that doesn't work find something to stick between the hose and the plastic to separate the bond and slide them apart.

      I use a pick to get a little gap, then squirt some wd40, then remove the pick to let the hose squeeze the wd around. Do it a couple times & it helps me with hoses.

      @Makeitworx 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are tools specifically designed to remove those hangers...but I have done this a few times and I use channel locks. Get one end on the outside edge of the hanger, and use the leverage to pull the hanger over the top. It's still hard, especially the ones right next to the catalytic converter. As he said, use some lube.

    • @Fixnit14
      @Fixnit14  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Makeitworx I still think a hose pick and lube is easier myself. To each their own, though.

    I have an 09 pontiac g6, and been looking at different fuel pump assemblies. I noticed the unit you purchased does not have a fuel pressure sensor but some do. do you happen to know if I need to purchase a unit with fuel pressure sensor or does not matter? thanks in advance

    • @Fixnit14
      @Fixnit14  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The one I removed from the tank had a fuel pressure sensor in it. I removed it when I installed it and plugged the whole. The fuel pressure sensor is located on the passenger side of the tank on the side, on the charcoal canister. Take a look if yours doesn't have the sensor on or around that area you might need one with the sensor in it. BUT you could just drill a hole in the fuel pump hat if you need one there and bought one with out it.
      Good luck on the project. 👍😉

      If your talking about the pressure sensor the charcoal canister is easily seen with the sensor location. This car does have 3 different fuel pump configurations theres a way to look up the right pump with vin you'll to do some research.

      You've got something else wrong with yours. I think theres are problems some where in the ignition system. I cant tell you what it might be I'd have to be hands on to tell you for sure.
      If it where the fuel pump it would not start the first time and start every time after. That's because its building the pressure it needs to start. Try looking up some forms that might be having a similar problem sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

      Depending on your area, labor could be anywhere between $50 and $150 per hr. The fuel pump I installed was about $300 at the time. If I did this job for someone, I'd charge them 4hrs at my rate, plus parts. You could be looking at as much as $700 for parts and labor.

    • @Fixnit14
      @Fixnit14  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The leak is a common problem with the g6. What happens is the fuel lines on the pump house / hat crack and break off. The only way to fix it is to replace the pump. Unless you have some fabrication skills and can reattach the fuel lines to the pump housing/ hat.
      This happend to my g6 and I replaced the pump. This video was the second pump I've replaced on this car. The first pump I replaced with a cheap one and it failed in a year. The second was a more expensive one that hasn't failed as of yet.
