@@GloboSVKI don't, just been a week on vacation there (unrelated to the euros) and I haven't encountered any serious delays, 1 or 2 minutes at worst, and I took the subway and tram at least 4 times a day. Am I just really lucky?
Our railway network is full of potholes.

@@LasCosasDeBrunin it's not the subways and trams that are the problem. It's mainly the DB run trains like S-Bahn and long distance trains that have horrible reliability
Hungary were going through until Georgia beat Portugal, which has to be up there with the most unexpected result in the tournament.
To be fair if we're talking about Hungary's chances of going through, they were also going out until they scored in the 100th minute which I'm fairly sure didn't happen again in the whole tournament
I don't think it's so unexpected, Portugal already qualified and had an almost fully rotated squad
Portugal rested all their big guns and pretty much put a third rate team out.

Can't say enough how proud I am of our boys in the Mannschaft. Second best team for sure as far as I'm concerned, the only team Spain couldn't beat in regular time, and that game was so close and literally a minute away from penalties. Unlucky to play the best team so early, but super excited for what Nagelsmann, his staff and the boys can do in the future. Definitely represented us as host nation with pride.
Here u there bruv Spain came out on top but during the game it was kinda exciting, nerve wracking to. Germany wasted some chances that game notably Fulkrug open goal, Havertz were the villains. Not forgetting the Cucurella Handball, which in my opinion wasn't aswell as Wirtz hitting the post.
@@beefbully4416 Yeah for sure, the buildup is really strong, but what we're probably missing most is an actual world class 9. Havertz as a false 9 and Füllkrug can both have good performances and score goals, but overall we waste too many of the chances we create and aren't clinical enough in front of goal. With someone like Kane/Martinez/Osimhen etc. in front of our midfield we'd be very happy, just look at Kane at Bayern with some of those players around him.

Please do a vid on the 7 biggest teams that flopped. Teams that were expected to dominate and yet completely and utterly failed. I think of the galacticos and psg when I imagine this.

Jurgen Klopp is among all the shit managers who've won the Champions League and league title with the same English club, utter nobodies like Matt Busby, Bob Paisley, Brian Clough, Joe Fagan, Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola, and nobody else. I mean he ONLY took them from 8th in the Premier League to the best team in the world in about 3.5 years, spending about as much as a midtable club, I could do better tbh.

The Zubimendi comment is a good point. Watching back on streams from the likes of Mark Goldbridge is so funny when he treats a routine half-time injury substitution like his team just won a penalty in the 90th minute, seconds before conceding. As someone who supported Spain the whole tournament (not being Spanish) I didn't feel a lick of nerves about it (although maybe I should)
Don't be proud of supporting Spain and not being Spanish. Real football fans can't stand people like you.
Very shrewd point about Zubimendi improving Spain over Rodri in the 2nd half against England. Also Fabian Ruiz was immense throughout the tournament. Vitinha was also a standout player for me.
true but I think its harsh to discount Rodri for player of the tournament. Props to Zubimendi for stepping into the breach but I don't think Fabian Ruiz or Olmo (most peoples other POTT) could have had the freedom to do what they did, if it wasn't for Rodri being the anchor man and recycling possession into them. Also worth mentioning that Zubimendi added a dynamism that Rodri doesn't have so that's probably what caught England off guard early on, well, at least that's one thing they got wrong.
But yes, Fabian Ruiz probably would have got POTT if he had had more influential performances in the latter stages so they likely gave it to Rodri for his steadfastness.
@@adamcang4683 Excellent points. I agree 100%. Ruiz, olmo, williams, and yamal were all fantastic players. However, without Rodri, i don’t think any of them could have played the way did for the entire duration of the tournament.
I also agree that england was more psychologically and tactically prepare to face rodri. Hence, when zubimendi came on, he was such a different player from rodri that it threw england for a loop. As a result, this unexpected change gave spain the advantage.

Quite enjoyed the prediction video, and this one gives a sort of closure to it. Great job! But bro, Serbia collapsing is a gimme at this point. The way our boys have been playing in the past few tournaments... All we do is scrape a point or two from the bottom of the barrel, and catch the first plane home. They get our hopes up with good showings in friendlies and/or qualifiers, and get groups that are manageable based on player quality, objectively. Then they go and dash those same hopes in a, usually, spectacularly mundane fashion. Mind you, we had England in the second half. As the Americans would say "y'all" got lucky. Jokes. :D Keep up the good work!
I thought that Mikautadze would be excellent and challenge for top scorer, and he did, which I'm fairly happy with, because he is a very good player. Other than that, I predicted that Lukaku may win or come second in it... So that's about as mixed as possible.
9:00 One of the main reasons Spain improved in the second half vs England was that, Rodri being subbed, Foden suddenly found himself without a target, and Southgate didn't find it in his heart to tell him what to do about that. 1 minute later, 1-0.

The biggest newspaper in Germany had front page news about the shit show that was the trains during the Euros. The "Bahn" was completely unprepared.

@@RosyMiranto No need, it's nothing very interesting beyond the headlines. Just said there is lots of construction on important lines, not enough personnel, not enough investment, equipment too old, bla bla bla. "Bild" Zeitung, saw it when i was buying bread a couple weeks ago.
All i wanted to say, it was noticed here, that it was a real disaster with the trains. Not just Alfie.

Fabian wasnt better than Rodri.
Can count the number of mistakes Rodri made on one hand.
Fabian nearly gave France the game twice by giving them the ball inside his own box. He was far more direct than rodri, but Rodri was basically flawless and his deep lying play making ability and immunity to a press made spain impossible to pressure off the ball until they were already in the final third of the pitch.
Olmo also has a case and so does Nico Williams.

Rodri is the most overrated player in football. Put him on a squad without a super team around him taking ALL pressure from him, he is mid at best. He's gets way too much credit for all the Spain and Man City talent
Rodri is overrated. I can name a dozen player who were better, a few of him his own teammates from Spain.

My biggest fail prediction-wise was probably Croatia, I had them in the semi finals again. But when you look at the stats Croatia actually did quite a lot right again, they just couldn't get the ball in the net often enough from their chances and xG. If they had made it out of the group they would have had not a terrible chance of reaching the semis.

you made me so hopeful for hungary i picked them in a euro draft with my friends with my second pick to their disbelief… & i answered back at them simply saying “you don’t know ball like i do”. safe to say i lost my money.
I made some of the same wrong predictions (Hungary above Switzerland, Croatia above Italy, Belgium as group winner), however, I did predict that Spain would face England in the final and beat them, so that was bang on.

Slovenia and Slovakia should have thought about it more when naming their countries, those names are too similiar, i also get them mixed up from time to time.

In fairness, I think a lot of “lower level” teams were a lot more tactically astute than expected. No shame in just looking at team sheets and missing the mark a little, mate 👍
Not bad, better than mine I think. My persistent failing with International tournament predictions is always thinking this'll be the one where Switzerland don't get out their group! It's always my surprise, trying to be clever pick & it never happens lol
Predicting the Euro's (and now the World Cup going forward) is stupid anyway cos of that daft best 3rd place teams progress ruling. Anyone who gets close to good predictions from the last 16 onwards just got lucky.
Seeing through Serbia but predicting Belgium to do well was crazy. Also not to brag, but I predicted Switzerland to make the semis (which they nearly did, you know?), but I also had Austria bottom of their group (at least I wasn't one of the people who kneejerk said they could win the tournament). Swings and roundabouts.
They "could" win the tournament was technically a correct statement though, that they will be bottom of the group was not ;)

I too have no idea how Rodri got player of the tournament ahead of Fabian Ruiz (and probably a few others).

Can you do a video on how the third group games were very safe/boring as teams knew that three teams could progress from group C, D, E, F and G after the group A and B games were played? And the consequence it has on the next world cup with third place finishers moving to the knockout stage.

I actually was the only one in our company betting game that got all semifinalists and the champion right. But sadly almost all knockout-games I predicted to go overtime finished in regular time and vice versa. So I lost a lot of points there and placed only 19. out of 63 😕
A lot of teams didn't turn up. In spirit or drive. Spain were really the only ones that were going to win it. Holland wasn't even on the pitch against England. It wasn't a boring Euro's, but you could tell a lot of teams just wanted to go home.

As a man in his 50s who’s football highlights for England were 1990 and 1996 then the hoo ha about England for a long time is …WTF?
Why the expectation?
Ultimately GS played England’s best in a set up that none of them normally played in ie Man City, Arsenal et al who generally play attacking high press and are successful but GS forgot to think to try and ask “how do the best Prem League teams play and succeed in Europe?”

Congrats to Portugal for playing both Slovakia and Slovenia in the round of 16. No wonder they lost to France in the 1uarters, they literally played 1 more game for no reason at all.
No sense a team facing two different teams in a single phase. England was Slovakia's real opponents, and Slovakia were a seconds away for reaching the QF.
Once I saw Spain had Dani Olmo I figured they'd win.

Well Alfie, despite you showing yourself getting it wrong. It is still not as memorable as poor Kevin Keegan being asked last moment if he would back David Batty to score a penalty against Argentina. Yes was the answer and Batty then failed to score. If you want them to be memorable you need to make the call just before the event. So live only.

They are a top nation in football, but very inconsistent. They can go from finalists to not even qualifying for a tournament in a few years.
Belgium to have a resurgence round of 16 exit is great for them but Italy to exit early round of 16 is bad for them, Italy going to the round after u claimed they exit early is not an 8/10, it's a 5/10 at best bro 😂

German trains are really that poorly run these days? I don't recall it being so delayed when I was there a few years ago.
The long-range and intercity trains operated by the state company DB are run even poorer than you could ever imagine. However public transport within bigger cities or metro-areas works just fine
nothing compared to how they ran trains all over Europe in the 30s and 40s that's for sure

In fairness to your thumbnail, Netherland did lose to Austria and went through 3rd. They could easily have gone out in the group stages had other 3rd place teams done better.
I'm still laughing at croatians for feeling entitled to being called favorites in the tournament😂a lot of us said that their best players are old now, and then they started calling us dumb and listing a couple random ass players no one had ever heard of as world class and said they'd be up there...only to not beat albania and crash out in the group 😂

It's crazy how overrated lakaka is despite being so obviously bad, only because people check his wikipedia stats and sees he has 85 intl. goals. I dare you all to see who he has scored against and in which matches and try to come up with that same conclusion again. This is the dude who lost Inter the UCL and made Belgium crash out of the WC group stage against Croatia. But sure, because he scores in qualifiers against Luxembourg and San Marino he's one of Belgium's greatest ever players
