Ronaldo has basically destroyed his entire legacy in 1.5 year's time:
      1. Wants to move to Man City, his old club's biggest rivals.
      2. Man City not interested, so moves to United instead.
      3. Has 1 decent season at United but finishes 4 places lower than they did without him.
      4. Falls out with United and is released.
      5. Has a stinker of a WC and causes more drama off the pitch than on it.
      6. Sees Messi win the WC.
      7. Is unwanted by any of Europe's top teams while every team would still take Messi in heartbeat (hence PSG eager to extend).

As a Liverpool fan, it would be easy for me to dislike Lukaku and mock him for this WC, but to be honest, I do remember watching his games at Everton and just admiring his excellent skills to score, and him not just waiting for the ball to reach the penalty box, but moving around different areas of the pitch to help recover the ball and set his teammates for attacking plays, using his physical attributes to really give defenders a hard time. I also remember feeling bad for him at Manchester United, where at the begining he was doing fine, but then they started to play with a very different style, and he just wasn't able to find good chances to do what he's best at. At Inter he was really fun to watch again, making a brilliant partnership with Lautaro. And I also support AC Milan, so it would be doubly easy for me to hate him. But I don't. He's a fantastic striker and at his best he's a really hard-to-beat natural goalscorer. He's had a hard time in recent seasons, and he might not fully recover his best form soon. But I do remember him fondly, even if he has so many times played as a rival to the teams I support.

Even though Lukaku missed those crucial chances, I think we shouldn't be too hard on him. He was along with Doku our best player that game. He really shouldn't blame himself for Belgium's exit because the squad simply should have been better. Lukaku felt more dangerous in those 45 minutes than the rest of the Belgium sqaud in the whole tournament. He was certainly miles better than Batshauyi who often took to much time to prepare for a shot which cost us against Canada and Morroco. We must also not forget that Lukaku really shouldn't have even been playing since he was still recovering from an injury.
