You know, NORMALLY, when I think of detectives on the NES, I think of Deja Vu.
My favorite zapper game as a kid. Music is quite memorable. Thanks Hip Tanaka :D
Yeah it's pretty great!
Finally, an escort mission game where you get to shoot your charge!
The ground portion of the DS launch game Yoshi Touch and Go has some similarities to Gumshoe, just with expanded capabilities and stylus control.
Reminds me of Pac Man 2 on snes and genesis.
On the beach watching!!!
Yippie-ki-yay Mr. Gumshoe
Never knew the "gumshoe" slang term was for the rubber shoes, I always figured because they stuck to their target, y'know, like gum on your shoe. Don't spit gum out on the sidewalk, kids.
This really seems like one that would be best played "any way you can", maybe map the Zapper zaps to a mouse click or the trigger button on a controller? It could be a pretty fun auto runner that way
That would be a tremendous ROM hack! On the level of the one controller Gyromite hack.
I love playing this game with the laser scope, it makes it so much easier both to aim and to fire repeatedly. Playing with friends also helps with not embarrassing yourself screaming into the mic so much
Dollar General Dick Tracy. That had me cracking up! Great video as always.
I also like how a giant mutant armadillo also attacks you
Please tell your cat I said "Pspspspsps."
Happy Wednesday, Everyone!
Loved the sound effects when Gumshoe gets shot
"I think you hate Mr. Stevenson"
...Ya know, I didn't THINK I did, but now that you mention it...I'm not prepared to take that idea off the table.
Duck Hunt, and Hogan’s Alley were developed for the Famicom before they were ported to the arcade (via Nintendo’s VS System). Wild Gunman was originally an electro-mechanical arcade machine game from 1974. The video game version, however, was never released in arcades.
This is one of the only games I never rented from our little video store. I think the reason was the name/box art
I mean what 90's kid wasn't a fan of undercover perverts
Ok .. I really have to ask. That last line "Check often, to make sure your family...". Was that a *really* subtle pun on Chekov's Gun? ('Checkovten'). If so, that's gotta win some kind of award.
I wish I was that clever... and we can pretend that I am!
I think this is the best and most interesting Zapper game. Very underrated. My second favorite would be Hogan's Alley. I just don't see the appeal of Duck Hunt
If you weren't born in the mid to late 70s to the early 80s...then that makes sense why you would not.
The balloons are from that Cleveland balloon mess from back then. Happened around same time
Definitely one of the coolest early black box games. I enjoyed this a lot as a kid when I was at grandmas, she only played zapper games so a lot of Duck Hunt, Hogans Alley, and Gumshoe for her.
This gumshoe better be picking up the slack, cause there’s no case too big no case too small when you need help just call…
Have this one but have never gave it a try. Thanks for the comprehensive summary!!
Kinda reminds me of an early Flappy Bird in a way.
@@HethoRPG 😆👍🏻
Never played this one as a kid/teen. Always thought the concept were you weren't actually shooting at him and just shooting to make him jump weird.
Thanks for the video! Have a great day!
Bill Chicago
Good video. I loved Wild Gunman and Hogan's Alley, never had Gumshoe
6:27 WHAT THE FUCK, MAN?!
I demand snuggles
I was afraid you'd see that, lol
I always thought 'black panther diamond' was a reference to the pink panther series of movies and cartoons.
I'm surprised that this one didn't get re-released on Wii U alongside the other three Zapper-compatible Black Box titles. With how much Nintendo tried to push the likes of Urban Champion and Donkey Kong Jr. Math on us via Virtual Console, you'd figure that *nothing* was off-limits for a release.
One of the earliest examples of an escort mission that I can think of. Surely there were some before this?
Another great review ❤
I knew a gumshoe is slang for police detective but I thought the term was literally a gum (bubblegum) on underneath the sole of your shoe.
Huh, so that's what "Gumshoe" means. Neat. Also, that's actually a pretty neat idea for a game. Heck, it could probably be adapted for smartphones and tablets these days.
"Black Panther" diamonds because of the Pink Panther (movies).
I always wondered why there was a game completed by Nintendo, assumedly with the Famicom in mind, yet it was never released in Japan but it WAS released in the US. Really an oddity. I keep rooting for it to get a mention in Smash Bros but I don't think that's happened yet.
I was nine years old when I got this game and it upset me so much that I had ZERO clue what to do. I was coming off playing Atari 2600 games, so cut me some slack. I never encountered an auto-scrolling game before. Certainly not one that I needed to shoot a character to SAVE him.
Is that the Odd Couple? And were they selling chips or Nintendo?
Yes and I think... both?
One statement. One question. First, that black box art really pushes the limit of truly depicting in-game graphics. I know they all were interpretations, but this one is a bit egregious. Almost 16 bit. Secondly, is this where the death blocks in AVGN came from?
The most annoying challenge of this game are actually achieving time over/time out.
Whats the cats name?
Great channel - subbed. Videos are a bit too long and could strongly do with some editing to cut the script down to just what is vital based on the couple i watched before this but regardless will be watching many more on 1.5x to enjoy the reviews of obscure titles
