I used to be good at Madden 95 because with thought it was easier in terms of smooth and easier controls and gameplay. 94 and 96 were hard but I still enjoyed the obstacle course, 40 yard dash, coach Rogers, punt accuracy drill and kick accuracy drill that was carried over to 97 for that game.
@@solidmage1720 I noticed the Genesis versions being smoother and simply different, so I was bummed out that I couldn't practice at home, hah! 94 onwards were just as good, and 96 on the SNES was even better, but nobody was playing Madden anymore : (
@@madspunky it’s like when I play 96 it always thought like it was a glitch when you pass the ball and you get a incomplete. I do not know if the game was supposed to be realistic which probably was during that time period. Same with 94. Like the a.I. Was supposed to be that way unless it was a misunderstanding.
IMO, Madden 95 is better on the SNES, and all others are better on Genesis--but SNES seemingly could handle some presentational bells and whistles that the Genesis couldn't. Players have their correct skin tones instead of all being the same color, the field is better and can handle logos that actually stay in place, things are brighter in general, you've got the cheerleaders in the SNES Madden 94 pause menu, etc. etc. With 1994-95 being one of my favorite seasons (the first time I ever followed football), I'm glad there's a version of Madden 95 I really like (and I was a SEGA kid back then).

Retrobowl is a fantastic modern look back on the 8bit TechmoBowl games, and if we were to have an homage to SNES/Sega football games, I would like to see a riff on Madden 95/95 and Sterling Sharpe Football. PS1/N64 football is the black sheep of football games before we get to the PS2/Xbox era of football greatness (ESPN 2K5 & Madden 05-08).
I agree, and I think Madden 95 is the one time in which the SNES version was more enjoyable than the Genesis version (even without the NFLPA)--Genesis feels stiff, a bit lifeless, and too many passes are batted down at the LOS. And the best all-around 16-bit football game is Bill Walsh College Football 95 (and I don't even follow college football).
@@kjuergens1985 - I don't follow college ball either, and I agree that the NCAA games are often the better titles. I like NCAA 2003-2008 more than Madden 2003-2008. NCAA 2011 and 14 were better than the comparative Madden games as well.
The first time I played this was when my family went to visit the family of my dad's coworker and us kids were in the basement playing Madden (think it was this version). I had played the PC version but this was better graphics and sound. But it was all passing and no defense, the final score was like 77-70, almost every drive was one long pass play.

By and large these were better on the Genesis but Madden 94 on SNES had such an excellent presentation.
For 91-93, definitely better on Genesis, but I prefer them on the SNES starting with 1995. The '97 version is my favorite.
