Dont make the same mistake fans of gaudi did by thinking he was "abstract " or "trippy" he was deeply religious and thus influenced deeply by it.....islamic art is simmilar.....colours all have meaning.....symbolism is ingrained ....the same as carpet makers.....using the wrong motiff can cause big problems.....australian aboriginal art suffers from tthe loss of meaning when it is cheapened by pastel inclusion and too much liberty.
hey HI i'm dutch, we're in near-contact... i'm a bit of a nutcase for geometry. Last week i succeeded in making a Pythagoras-tree fractal in Geometry-Nodes in blender ! i could also open old files and CTRL-C CTRL-V objects(+modifyers&materials) into the new version with the asset-browser ! (2.5+stuff into 3.0alpha) The Nodes provide Branching ability so you can make Actual Fractals in Blender Now :-D !
Thanks for the video. With a penchant for mathematics, I have always been interested in Islamic design and wish you well in developing the course. Have you considered making it globally available via Coursera? (www.coursera.org/) A small point. I believe Islam art has its origins in Greek and Indian geometry, not really Roman geometry although they were the overall rulers until around the end of the 5th century. When thinking of any famous Roman mathematicians, the name Heron comes to mind (10-70 AD) - inventor and mathematician and the discoverer of the formula for the area of a triangle - but he was really Greek. I believe that the story of Islamic mathematicians and thus Islamic art really began after the Islamic conquest of Alexandria and its library of valuable manuscripts in 642 AD (where Heron and Archimedes were educated from manuscripts subsequently captured). A host of great Islamic mathematicians emerged in the golden age that fused Greek and Indian mathematical knowledge from the 9th century until the 13th century AD. Islamic art may have peaked in 1492 with the Castillian's conquest of the last piece of Spain today, the Alhambra. This kicked off the renaissance, but that is another story.
Taking religion out of it completely is a mistake. Do not attempt that. It is perfectly possible, however, to teach each Tradition/Style individually so that people can come to one place to learn them *_all_* from Experts! And this _alongside_ of learning how to make money from it, or whatever. Please do not _shove_ people down a track of only learning what will make money. If some people want to make art for the sake of learning about religious Traditions, they should be able to come to you and learn. This has caused a tragic loss of meaning for all kinds of studies. And now people are looking for meaning in all the wrong places... I would support _that_ project, for sure!
