  • An unbelievable chase on Sunday 11th June as we teamed up with Mark Seltzer at ‪@ElectricSkyUK‬ to chase a rare tropical thunderstorm around Oxfordshire, UK.
We left Devon for a 450-mile trip around the UK to chase a huge thunderstorm which broke out during the afternoon. The initial target area was Oxford and following observations throughout the call was decided to head south slightly.
With critical decision-making, timing and teamwork we managed to get into a position to watch the storm breed from birth and tracked it west along the M4 corridor until the very end.
The storm was an absolute monster, it’s not often we've seen a tropics storm like this in the UK and with what could have been -60c 40,000ft tops it was such a powerful storm that ate its way right through the central parts of the UK.
I think its safe to say that we were well rewarded for our efforts and I’m grateful to have partnered with Mark to chase this.
Here is some action highlights from the chase. Stay tuned on the social media channels for more content.

Great video! Especially like the heavy black cloud formations underneath the leading edge, very dramatic!

Supercells are rare in the UK but when you see one they're incredible.

I'm surprised that didn't spawn a tornado!, don't see many storms like that in the UK, it had the classic line in the clouds where the lightning always comes out of.

I live in a small town in Cheshire & I can honestly say it was ferocious first we had intense rain with constant rumbling above that passed over
That was nothing I have never seen so much lightning ⚡⚡⚡ in all my years I have never witnessed a storm like it the rain stopped then all hell broke lose amazing & violent 👌👌👌👌👌

@ukweatherchase wasn't so much as a chase for me. It's more of a head directly for me, storm!
Which is unusual as normally storms happen everywhere where I'm not!

It’s highlights video and so the sound isn’t really interesting hence why an overlay would be more viable. Thanks for watching though! 🙂
