What's the first riff you would rip on this Axe?
Gary Moore Still Got the Blues
I have no idea but it would be cool...
Frankenstein!!!👍
Pressure and time from rival sons
The Freebird solo of course. Every time I see a Firebird I think of Allen Collins.
That’s probably the most beautiful guitar I have seen Epiphone make. The wood stain color, the headstock, it’s freaking gorgeous!
Only 600 bucks!
It is one sexy guitar!
Gotta get one
I’ve got the bass version. Best bass I’ve ever owned.
Love to give it a go. Beautiful wood and looks.
That’s one of this Epis that has the right headstock!
I am so glad that both Epiphone and Gibson have really gotten back to what made them great guitars in the first place!
Which, the reason for what made them good to begin with was competing against Fender if you ask me.
Gorgeous guitar... reminds me of Johnny Winter first, Allen Collins second... RIP boys... thanks for the jams! Great instruction Robert. I like your straightforward approach.
Epiphone has really stepped up their game immensely. I had a Gibson Les Paul Special that I sold to find another guitar several months ago. I just saw the Epiphone Special at a local shop and decided to play it, and it was fantastic. Feel and playability was spot on to the Gibson.
I have this guitar and love it! First riff/song: Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo (of course!)
Since Epiphone is made by Gibson, pretty sure they aren't worried about it...
I bought one of these last year as a birthday present to myself when I happened to catch it in stock someplace else. I was extremely impressed with the overall fit and finish. The fingerboard edges are rolled beautifully. It has the neck-though construction, full size pots, and a Graphtech nut as well. The only things missing between this and the G is the name on the headstock and the nitro finish. A set of the gearless tuners are $100 to get the "proper" look, but even some of the Gibson versions use regular tuners.
Love the look of this guitar, Epiphone really did justice to the Firebird with this.
I’ve been wanting a firebird for so long, Joe Bonnomassa really turned me on to these guitars and also seeing slash on stage with one AND who can forget Johnny winters beautiful example;, the mini humbuckers give you a thick gibson tone while still retaining that snappiness of a single coil. This is the third one I’ve entered let’s hope I’ll see this one on my doorstep out here in Germany FINGERS CROSSED❤🎉
It’s too late , Bonnomassa probably bought all the stock
Looks and sounds amazing!
Paul Stanley and Allan Collins played Firebirds before Joe blowyourmoma was even born
@@samright4661 your really making a pissing contest out of who played thus guitar first, no one cares.
@@DrinkingBleachOnTheBeach he's right you know -- except for the "no one cares" But it's been 3 generations since Paul Stanley and there are way more people alive younger than us ols-timers (too bad). I don't like Bonamassa (what little I've heard) and I got Alive! and all the old Skynyrd stuff on vinyl when they were new -- still play them sometimes. But Johhny Winter came first and could wipe the asses all these young up-starts! (And just watch, somebody's going to remember yet another guitar-playing fool who was playing these before Johnny!) I hope I get this one, but if not, maybe you will. 🎸
Nothing say "COOL" like a Firebird! From Brian Jones to Oaul Stanley, the Firebird is LEGENDARY! Thanks for always thinking of and taking good care your viewers!
God bless and take care...
And Johnny Winter!
Those fb720 pickups sound pretty great and they’re true to the original construction! Nice guitar for sure. It’s just asking for Poison Whiskey by Skynyrd!
Wow! That's a beautiful Firebird! Epiphone is really killing it right now! I'm not a fan of the banjo tuners so I like the regular ones on this. Cool music too Robert!😎🤟
agreed 100% with the banjo tuners, they look awkward and heavy.
Absolutely beautiful. The look, the finish, the sound and of course the playing.
Always loved the Firebird after hearing Johnny Winter play one live. Very unique guitar that doesn't look like anything else out there, and those mini humbuckers have lots of clarity!
Neck pickup is sweet for sure! Thanks Sweetwater and Robert for the opportunity!
Love the stained wood grain vibes of the firebird. Such a unique guitar style. Can’t believe they’ve issued an epiphone copy at such a great price. Any southern rock tunes would sound great if played on this bird.
This Firebird does sound sweet. Great job showcasing us affordable options of iconic guitars!
I think the look and sound on the epiphone for that price is the way to go. That neck pickup sounds so smooth on lead sounds. Great video as always.
This is awesome! I’ve been looking at these for a while but can’t find them in stock. So much history on the firebird. Really cool!
The firebird is a work of art, one of the most underrated guitar models I can think of off-hand, thanks for giving away this gem Robert!
That Firebird sounds really good. Great playing. Love those riffs. Thanks Sweetwater and Robert for making this demo possible and giving it away.
These pickups sound great. Epiphone has clearly done it right with this unique guitar.
I've always loved the look of the reverse and non-reverse firebirds. Whether Gibson or Epiphone they're just stunning.
Firebirds are definitely some of the coolest designs to come from gibson. So sleek and different from the rest of the line up. I love them!
Les self-consciously metal than an explorer… Completely unique sound.
Man Epiphone is on the right track! This thing is killer!!! Visions of this plugged into my Marshall rippin some Allen Collins and Johnny Winter!! Oh yeah! Thank you Robert for all you do for us aspiring guitar players! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Guessing that was supposed to be Allen Collins
@@WalkenDead Ahhhhhh. 🤦🏼♂️ Yep. Fat thumbs strike again. Haha. Thanks for the correction and thank goodness for the edit button! Haha. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Epiphone has really been stepping up their game in the last few years!
Never been an Epiphone fan but this sounds legit!
They should put the Gibson headstock on their les Paul’s though
@Lace.C Levine the new epiphone headstocks are very close to gibson. I just got an epiphone special and its better than every newer gibson special that ive played
very true!
I think the first riff I would rip on the Firebird is an old Kiss tune, Black Diamond. This guitar reminds me of the guitar Paul Stanley played early in their career. I am digging the tones on this guitar!
What a awesome sound from those pickups! Thanks to Epi and Mr Baker for giving us a demo.
I'll take Epiphone's all day long over Gibson , I've got 3 of them and haven't had any issues. I have an Explorer Korina 58 , an LP studio and an SG 400 pro. The pickups sound great and handle high gain's with no problem....
The unique headstock and the classy application of the logo sets it apart from a Gibson-inspired line to its own class! The body finish looks amazing too 🙏
It’s such an original look and so unique with those mini humbuckers. Love that finish.
Epic sound, really tight and punchy. Love the neck pick up. Good looks too!
Sounds great! What I love is that they did the n ck with the walnut-stripes like they did on the „treasure“ firebird I.
Really cool shape and logo. Also incredible how it can match a Gibson pretty closely soundwise.
I love how it sounds. The tones you got out of it, lead and rhythm, were great. And like you said, that logo is super cool 🦅
I love the shape of the firebird guitar. Looks super cool as well as it sounds🤘🏻
I've always loved the look of the Firebird. It's so unique, and the Epiphone version looks stunning. They just keep getting better and better- crazy value for the price. I know most probably associate it with 70s classic rock but I've seen Firebirds used in a wide range of genres and styles. Really versatile guitars.
Very helpful video. Have always wanted a Firebird and your video may have given me the final reason to finally get one
Killer tone!!! I dig your dynamics in the demo.
The firebird is such an iconically classic guitar. Great tones and playing Mr. Baker.
I'm really liking the pickups, would obviously have to hear it in person but its sounding pretty killer on this video!
Thanks for the video Robert. Nice playing, and nice guitar. I've never been a fan of explorers, but a really like the firebird.
Joker and the Thief would be my first riff on this Axe! Never knew it is a neck through design! Its a solid piece of guitar with a great sound.
The tones and punch is awesome! I had a Firebird back in the 60's, loved that guitar!
I have always loved the look and sound of the Firebird, thanks for an honest review !
So powerful guitar! 💜 Expressive and clean tones.
Always really liked the Firebird shape. This one is flat out gorgeous. Sounds great, too!
Love the firebird, especially the headstock. First riff? Probably ZZTop beer drinkers and hell raisers to start with. Thanks for the great demo.
That really is a beautiful guitar, I've currently got a Memphis guitar, don't really know much about it (it's a lower end guitar). The sound on the firebird was great also
Sounds stupendous! Agree about the fingerboard pickup. Banjo tuners like the Bonamassa model would be the icing on the cake.
Nice tones. Almost like the Gibby. What's the fret work like?
Sweet axe to add to the arsenal! The riff? Definitely some Johnny Winters, like Highway 61 revisited...........
Got a look at this one at a guitar store. It is GORGEOUS!!! The vintage look is unbelievable
The neck thru is such a cool look and I love the firebird pickups
Johnny Winter was one of my all time favorite guitarists and I've always wanted a Gibson Firebird. You could play any of the blues tunes he did on that and it will sound amazing! This seems like a good way to get a Firebird at a reasonable price.
Most underrated gibson style body. Amazing guitar
I absolutely love the firebird body, feel and sound.
What mods would you make to this beautiful guitar? I would (1) replace the tuners with locking ones; and (2) maybe replace the pups.
I'll have to try this one too see if really as good as they say. I'm not a guitar snob... I've owned three epiphones but they typically look cheap, felt cheap, pickups were lacking, or they didn't stay in tune and had intonation issues... and this is even true of the newer ones. I gave them one last shot when I bought a Epiphone 335 figured top. It was beautiful but had tuning in instability and intonation issues and the pickups were muddy. I guess it really depends on the specific Epiphone model. I did take like the Epiphone Les Paul modern when I played it. Again, I'll have to try the Epiphone firebird. I like the fact that construction wise it's almost the same as the Gibson... even the neck through construction...no cheap joints... different pieces of wood to make the neck...
My uncle had 2 tobacco burst firebirds back in the 70's (He lost them in a house fire)... I have wanted one ever since.
Such a sweet looking and sounding guitar. I can’t wait to play it!
You Camera work is perfect thanks
I’ve been playing for about 62 years, and I had one of these in the early seventies. Great ax! I loved it. Wish I could get it back. Probably needed money, oh well.
never actually got to play a firebird but always loved the looks of them
I want one so bad lol, different enough to be supercool and similar enough to guitars we know and love to make sense
My personal opinion is these newer Epiphones, in particular the non les paul models that do not have the maple cap or veneer such as the SG's ( upper end ones of course ) and les paul Jr , firebird are exceptional values. Especially a few models that come with locking tuners and or Gibson pick ups.
Beautiful all I can think of is Southern Rock ..........& that’s a great thing !!!
Love the improvement of Epiphone the last few years. This guitar and the ES are something to look out for now.
Love that finish so much, love me a good odd shaped guitar too haha
I've always wanted a Firebird. Very awesome guitars. This one sounds incredible!
Never really had GAS for a Firebird ... until now! Looks great and sounds awesome!
Took 6 months from Sweetwater during covid. Best guitar purchase in 5 years and one was a 17 Gibson Firebird!
This guitar is such a vibe! Love the "offset" look and it sounds amazing, a guitar with attitude👌🏼
Sounds great 👍 I want one! I can't believe the price and sound. Very nice guitar that I'm going to check out at Sweetheart.
As a lifelong Epiphone player, I’ve never played a Firebird. But this particular one sounds so awesome and looks amazing! 😁
Pretty amazing sounding guitar for what most people have considered a “low end” brand for several years. I appreciate that Epiphone made such great instruments before they got linked to being a low end brand. And even then, I believe that the quality stood up. I’d like to try playing something like Albert King.
I've always loved the reverse headstock Firebird. A true classic!
The Thunderbird Epiphone is so cool and awesome to play in this guitar, it smooths in the finger when you riffing it.
I’ve had an Epiphone Firebird VII that my Brother now owns this one would be awesome to have also. Sounds and looks great.😎
What a gorgeous guitar!! Sounds so smooth too 🔥🔥
First riff....the opening to Johnny Winters Rock Me Baby. Thx Robert and Sweetwater 🎸👍👍
Gorgeous Guitar Epiphone!
Sounds and looks amazing.
Incredible riffing Robert thanks for giving us a tour.
I definitely have a thing for old Firebird I’s.. but between the Epi Firebird and the Epi Korina Explorer .. I’m jumping ship over to the Explorer.
The Firebird is the Gibson/Epiphone guitar I am most taken by. I love the Jaguar/Jazzmaster/Starcaster shape so I think I know why. I like this design so much more than the Explorer. And as for tones ...
Wow! I'm kinda of agreeing with you on the Epi sounding sweeter.
Love the sunburst finish! Super cool guitar!
Totally cool guitar. I get even Johnny Winter would like it!
This guitar sounds amazing. Love the shape.
I don't know what settings are on the amp, or what speaker (or cab sim) is used, but that is one FINE sounding guitar!
Yeah epiphone are killing it atm, got the 61 les paul sg, bloody awesome guitar
Always wanted a firebird and a korina V. Both such great guitars Epiphone has been so consistant in every guitar shop I go to for years now.
I've always thought firebird had this sense of class to them, and this one definitely proves me right. Looks and sounds amazing
I would put the banjo style tuners on it because they are so accurate for tunning. How is the hardware compared to the Gibson? Is it smaller different materials? Usually there is especially on lower cost instruments, but that can be taken care of.
very early 70's I bought my first "good" guitar - had a choice between a LP Deluxe and a Firebird. I still have the LP :-) . Wish I'd bought both now.
Oh that sunburst is nice. Wish they would have Pelham blue or Cardinal red but still a killer color none the less.
I've always been intrigued by the Gibson Firebird! Literally had one in my cart on a half dozen times. But the guitar collection is fairly large and I get stern looks from the misses wherever I bring up buying another one
Haven't played a gibson before, the firebird has always been an eye catcher to me and sounds crisp
Love this firebird! Some Edger Winter would be fun.
This is a beauty! My 17 yo daughter spends hours playing her acoustic but dreams of an electric. This Epiphone sounds 1st class. Thanks for sharing with us 🙂
That's a super cool looking guitar and it sounds very versatile, with nice clean, crunch, and lead tones. Love it!
