    TVXQ has a pretty massive history - and you probably have heard their songs, you just don’t know. (mirotic for example: EVERY boy group covers this song at some point. first came out in 2007 when they were still five members.) Three members left in 2010 and it was a huge legal dispute with SM - they formed a group named JYJ; but all of this tea is way too much for a comment to dig into
    TVXQ stands for Tong Vfang Xien Qi. Roughly means Rising Gods of the East.
    As for first and second gen variety and how shows were - it was actually pretty iconic.

    TVXQ were the first kpop group I ever stanned back in 2006, I hope you will get the chance to check out their music someday but they definitely have a lot. They released 4 Korean album and 4 Japanese albums before the 3 members left in 2009, and the members left because they accepted a sponsorship from a makeup company (iirc) which SM said infringed on their exclusive contracts. There was a huge legal battle over it and for years those three members were essentially blacklisted form the Korean entertainment industry and could only release music in Japan. There is still some drama, though it seems like Yunho and Changmin don't have any problems with the former members on a personal level, but they're not really allowed to publicly talk about/interact with each other. The former members are Kim Jaejoong, Kim Junsu (stage name Xiah) and Park Yoochun.
    TVXQ have not had a unified comeback for a few years, but they actually both made their solo debuts recently after so many years. Yunho made his solo debut in 2019 with the mini album True Colors and released his second mini album this year. Changmin released his first mini album Chocolate last year and this year he got married.
    Edit: okay I know this is already long and someone else will answer the question anyway, but the group's original name was Dong Bang Shin Ki, shortened to DBSK, which means "rising gods of the east". TVXQ is basically a Chinese writing of the Korean name, Tong vfang Xin Qi. They started using TVXQ when they started promoting in Japan and other countries since Chinese is a more widely spoken language than Korean.

    8:24, the person arm wresting Yunho is actually henry who was also in SM ENT. Henry Lau is actually from Canada and came to Korea to be an idol. Henry used to be a part of super junior-m (super junior that promotes only in China), wrote songs for EXO (the eve), had also worked with NCT mark briefly on a show. Henry was a solo artist in SM after the dispute between China and Korea (stopped the super junior-m promotions) but due to the lack of proper management he left. He is now a part of his own company and an actor who did work in Hollywood movies. He has his own youtube channel (henry and solar-mamamoo actually did a collab on their respective channels haha). You should definitely check some of his songs, they're amazing!! recommendations: trap, I'm good ft. nafla (he did an SM TOWN perf. with nct mark), and monster (eng ver.). P.S.: Henry is also known for being a genius musician because he can almost play any instrument (esp. violin)/ compose/ write songs.

    TVXQ with 5 members Vocal Dance group who are huge in Japan and Korea. YUNHO, JAEJOONG, YOOCHUN, JUNSU and CHANGMIN. Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu left SM and made a new group JYJ but has since been inactive. Though JAEJOONG is still producing his music as a SOLO artist (still a big deal in Japan) and the 2nd most richest KPOP idol. JUNSU is still performing songs and in musicals. But the 3 of them cannot promote their songs in Korea since they left SM.

      I'm not making a character judgement on Yunho other than, oddly enough, the breaking of covid restrictions lol. as long as the employees are working consensually i dont give a shit what the bar was. Brushing over details doesnt help either tho.

    basically the 3 members left (the reasons depend on who u ask it was a messy deal) back in 2010. yunho and changmin rebranded tvxq as a duo with the release of "keep your head down" (also 2010) so theyve been Just Two Dudes for like 11 years now.
    and when i say messy WHEWWWW IT WAS MESSY... theres so many versions of the story so if you really wanna, you'll have to look it up in your own time bc there are intense fans of both sides (multiple sides? of the story?) so yeah you cant take one person's account as the truth lol

    Yeah, they were 5 from 2003-2009, and the other 3 formed JYJ, it wasn’t like they just ditched, they just decided not to renew their contracts, but SM still acts like they’re traitors…the whole situation was/is messy, like to the point there’s now a Korean law named after JYJ to try and help future artists not be allowed to be like completely blacklisted for leaving a company for mistreatment….but it’s not the first time people left SM for mistreatment, and definitely wasn’t the last, to say the least…the whole TVXQ/JYJ thing is also the reason I now have at least 2 biases in each group…also you should definitely check out more of their music both 5 and 2 member releases, especially both of their recent solo releases

    • @predatorontheprey6275
      @predatorontheprey6275 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It wasn't that they decided not to renew their contracts: their original contracts WERE 13 years long. Plus ~2 years military + trainee years - a contract **their parents** signed for them since they were minors.
      It's thanks to them that idols have the standard 7 year contracts (which I think you are referring to) required by law now - because they took SM to court, and won.
      It's understandable why SM has been predictably vindictive - It's like being a whistleblower at a major corporation, and on top of that, making it easier for others to leave.

    I'd recommend checking out the MVs, "Mirotic" is their most famous one (when they were still 5), and "Keep your head down" is their first comeback as a duo, it was insanely hyped at the time so worth it I think. They have been into a more mature music style with a lot of jazzy influences since 2014, it suits them really well (latest Korean comeback was "Truth" in 2019). They both have released solo tracks in 2020/2021, "Me, Myself and I", "Chocolate", "All that love" for Changmin and the Noir visual project ("Need You Right Now", "Loco", "La Rosa", "Thank U", "Eeny-Meeny" and "Time Machine" in released order) for Yunho.
    Yunho was not respecting social distancing guidelines and has been relieved of his MC position (very understandable), he has a hardworking and serious personality so as a long time Cassie it was disappointing to see the news.
