You can activate windows without paying. You can still fake a key by using command prompt. You essentially just tell your computer "yeah it's legit trust me" and it honestly has given me no issues so I think it just doesn't care. I don't remember how I did it but you can do that so you don't have to pay Microsoft, because we all know windows is not worth the price
