Although we should all learn empathy, they probably feel as though the world said "screw you guys" and left them behind. I disagree with the hypocrisy, but I feel as though they can't make sense of life anymore. So Trump speaking on their level was their version of "jesus" coming to save them from the bad people in the world.
Lindy T You have a valid point and in my opinion, the best way to handle that is having individuals choose where their tax dollars go, instead of elected representatives. I personally do not care about having a border wall, and do not fear immigration. I am from NYC and it makes no sense how there are places that fear terrorism or immigration more than here. My money shouldn't be going into any aspect of that wall, period. If you want to impact immigration be as strict and irritating as the security at JFK.

The fairest method is to measure the debt incurred by Obama's specific policies. The Congressional Budget Office does this for every program. The CBO found that the largest contributor to the debt was the Obama tax cuts, which were an extension of the Bush tax cuts. They added $858 billion to the debt in 2011 and 2012.
The next largest was the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. It added $787 billion between 2009 and 2012. It cut taxes, extended unemployment benefits, and funded job-creating public works projects.

Obama increased military spending to an average of $800 billion a year. In fact, his security budget request of $895 billion in FY 2011 set a new record. In FY 2013, he requested $851 billion. That happened even though he withdrew troops from Iraq in 2012 and eliminated the threat from Osama bin Laden in 2011. Obama spent $857 billion in contingency funds during his administration. That was more than the $850 billion Bush devoted to the War on Terror.
What about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act? It didn't add anything to the debt in Obama's first term. That's because most of its costs began in 2014. That's when it set up health insurance exchanges and extended coverage to more low-income people. In fact, tax increases offset costs to the tune of $104 billion between 2010 and 2019.

Except, that's not what you're doing. You aren't saving people money by cutting these programs, you're diverting funds from those programs in an attempt to fund something else. People will end up paying the exact same amount in taxes, but instead of some of those tax payers having some help supporting their children, or instead of elderly citizens too old to work receiving a simple meal, they just end up getting shafted. All while paying the same amount in taxes.
When you realize most of this programs are like 0.2% of the budget, so cutting all these programs is basically a dick move.

I miss the early days when Trump supporters used to bring their arguments here to discredit Colbert and the other late-night show hosts. It was kinda fun reading the furious and defensive exchanges in the comments section but now, almost all of them have boycotted Colbert's videos along with most of the other TH-cam videos. These people now comment on other sites, especially Yahoo articles. If you ever see a Yahoo article on Colbert, go to the comment section - there'll be many negative comments and some of them can exceed a thousand upvotes!

The money saved can then be spent on him flying down to Florida at the weekends to play golf.

Blatant virtue signalling with no real arguments. If this program is so overwhelmingly popular, why do we need government to threaten people into funding it? No one's stopping this programs supporters from donating voluntarily. The only people have have a problem with cutting government "welfare" are self-righteous assholes who want to feel like they're helping people without actually having to sacrifice anything.

The major fact that this entire video ignores is that we don't have the money to pay for any of this. All people are doing is running up debt. Eventually, that debt is going to fall to a generation that didn't vote for it or benefit from it. How can you morally justify passing on that bill to future generations? Again, there's nothing compassionate about helping people if you pass the bill to someone else.
If you're going to complain about Trump's budget, don't waste your time with appeals to emotion. This video is trying to claim we should feel bad about these cuts, when in reality the moral thing to do would be to cut even more spending so we don't leave people who haven't even been born yet with a bill they can't pay.
