    Thank you for touching on that Nightcap interview with Noah because there was a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding from Shannon in my opinion. Ochocino really was coming from a more understanding open minded space.

    • @TheWayWithKhuwayne
      @TheWayWithKhuwayne 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Absolutely agree.
      I understand the USA's talent in various team events is outstanding andon a different level in contrast to many other countries. But there has to be a level of common sense and humility when differentiating between a national championship and a world championship in the NBA, NFL, NBL etc.
      Also, Noah Lyles being very open about his goals about breaking WRs, running certain events etc shouldn't be so problematic that what it is making it out to be. It seems to me being silent about aspirations is more acceptable than vocalising your goals and dreams out loud.
      I don't think it's a bad thing for sport for someone like Lyles is speaking out and striving to get certain records and times. In reality, I think fans and general people talking down on athletes wanting certain "unreachable" records is a bad thing in our sport.

    • @VirgoJeannie
      @VirgoJeannie 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      @TheWayWithKhuwayne Yes, yes, and yes. I agree wholeheartedly. I just had so many thoughts I didn't say.
      It's almost seems like people want to humble him instead of encouraging someone to be aspirational.You don't have to like someone in order to be fair and respectful. As an athlete, if you don't have confidence than there are limitations on what you can achieve.
      I think coming from the NFL realm Shannon either needs to educate himself or no longer speak on the topic. He does this quite often actually. It kinda seemed like he had a vendetta against him. Almost like NBA/ NFL are one family that sticks together, so he was trying to come from that POV. Don't interview people if you'll be discouraging honestly. He already had his mind made up. People who brought back Gold for the first time in their countries were celebrated even before they reached back home.
      They do not want common sense. They want to seem as though they are proving someone wrong. Shannon kept trying to make a point that was irrelevant and quite frankly childish. Someone should dim their light and expect less from their sport because YOU value another sport more? That's ridiculous. What other country was hoping their own countryman lost a race simply because they have opposing views?
      If Noah wasn't who he was people from the other sports would not be talking about track and field. That's the truth. He's not my favorite because I support other people. I still respect him though as he works and trains just as hard as anyone else.
      Honestly, Noah has said it a million times. He is just trying to leave track and field in a better place than when he got there. He wants to be able to encourage his kids to pursue track if they want... instead of telling them maybe there is something else more lucrative, appreciated, and celebrated. Some people get into sports and never think about that. They're just okay with getting their money, recognition, and leaving. Think about the future generation.

      Regardles of what people think of Shannon, he gave more exposure and love to track and field than any other sports network in America. He and Ocho gave more financial rewards to olympic athletes including track and field athletes who are not playing the US major sports. He supports them more than anyone else.

      @ah92vi 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VirgoJeannie I will say I agree with Shannon on the shoe deal thing, but not for his reasoning. Where Noah is going wrong with it is wanting a trainer, this past year with him being the double world champion and leading up to Paris if they dropped a spike for him that would've blown up. There's 1.2mil high school track athletes with a number of them looking up to him and ShaCarri

    I get what you mean about track's popularity. I remember watching a YT short of the fastest woman alive (Elaine) and when she ran 10.54 in Eugene, it had millions of views but the comments were just flooded with people talking about Sha'Carri and how she was last, not showing any respect for how ridiculous Elaine's time was. It was then I knew that all those people were only there due to Sha'Carri's social media presence and actually don't know anything about or love track and field. They're essentially plastic fans who only show up for a certain person. The same thing happened when Usain was running, after he retired a lot of the 'fans' went too. It deserves more popularity as it is essentially about the peak of human performance

    The thing with track is that outside of the olympics it's hard to know when events are going on and when. Hard to find on TV, the diamond league usually occurs in the middle of the day on a Thursday or Friday due to the time zone differences. It took me forever to find the diamond league this past weekend and even then I had no idea who was competing till I turned it on.

    I'm used to getting up at 3am to watch T&F on the other side of the world. Paris Olympics was livestreamed here in Australia on a free app, Diamond Leagues used to be but post Olympics the right have been sold so now it costs us, which is crazy because only really dedicated fans are getting up in the early hours to watch. I wouldn't mind paying for a streaming app if everything was available through the one app, but I'm not paying for DL with one service and whatever else comes up like Michael Johnson's league with another. Streaming services hands down beat tv coverage though, in tv they cut to ad breaks, they show what they think we want to see not the whole meet, and we have to listen to uneducated opinions by people who usually know nothing about our sport.
