    ----- ADDITIONAL INFO & TIPS -----
-- Do not use surgical steel knives (like a scalpel) on the glass surface. Basic craft knives are fine. Also, glass mat is made of tempered glass to help resist scratching, but it is not scratch-proof. I personally don't cut on mine and have had no scratches! :)
--- Thank you to Tim Holtz for info and tips.
--- I much prefer working on a black surface over white. Most of my stamping is on white cardstock and most card bases are white. So the contrast is a huge benefit to me. If you prefer to work on white, try these two glass mats:
    shrsl.com/14lut
    shrsl.com/14luu
--- If you work on a desk that isn't smooth, this mat will be helpful.
--- If you have a glare from your lights, try putting a penny or two under the back too feet so it is at a tiny angle. This may move the glare away. I do this for the spot Lila works in. My spot doens't have lights directly above it because of how I designed it.
--- I understand shipping is high for overseas. This item is HUGE and heavy. I wish I could hand deliver them to you. :(

I’ve had mine for about 5 months- REALLY like it! One of the other reasons I really like it - is that I seem to keep extra “stuff”off the mat so the work surface remains spacious and tidy! The one wish I have is that Tim comes out with a carrier for traveling with the mat.

Had ordered this mat months ago, and then when I got the call it was in - dawdled on going in to fetch it because of the price. (Price was unknown, due to import/delivery costs.) Last week, on a night I was bored, I went in and asked if they still had it. Out came the largest box I'd seen in the craft world - I was indeed excited. But - it's been sitting in its box since. I was feeling buyers remorse. ( I have a perfectly good clear glass mat already, bought on sale.) Like every video - Jennifer shares the excitement of the products she uses, and I'm always so happy to see her use something I have. Makes my buyers remorse disappear. ( Things she uses that I don't have - makes me want them - she's an innocent enabler that way.) I did make a card last night BESIDE the unopened media mat box - so I was technically closer to it then I was days ago. Thanks to this video, I think the mat may come out of its box, and get a little inky or something...

Your description sounds like many items I have purchased in the crafting world. It takes a while for me to get the "courage" to actually use them. I don't have the mat, but I have definitely purchased other items & then been too intimidated to use them such as the fuse tool.

Love mine! I am a scrapbooker too and it is great for doing my 12x12 pages. Love that it is large enough for scrapping! I am like you, I do all crafting on it. And that space is always available, because I put the supplies around it not on it! Love it!

Excellent. I didn't know if the way I work would justify the expense of the glass mat. So far, I don't work with ink or stamping. I have a small collection of sentiment stamps and want to learn heat embossing this year. Thanks for helping me plan out my purchases. I will definitely add the glass mat to my budget.

I love my mat so much, I scratched mine somehow by dragging something across the surface, but that hasn't affected how I use it in the least. If I actually damaged it and it was no longer useable, I wouldn't even think twice about purchasing another one. This is truly a game changing idea in the craft world.

This mat is the most useful tool on my desk, and just like Jennifer, I've tried many other surfaces that didn't meet my needs. After 8 1/2 long months of waiting for this wonderful sheet of glass, I've got it on my grandmother's sewing table. My grandfather built it for her, so now I use it for my crafting. Anyways...I digress...Another improvement that I've found with this mat, Tim Holtz's Sidekick die cutting machine is stable when I use it. It doesn't slide or shake when I die cut and that is important to me. I love this mat as with most of Tim's products! Thanks Jennifer!

I love the TH Glass Media Mat. I am a really messy crafter and having it up on the legs helps keep the stuff off my work surface. I also like the fact that I can do the messy inky, gluey stuff on the white part which leaves the black work surface clean. I do use the grid but I very rarely use the measurements on the mat. I think this has been one of my best purchases.

Thank you for such a great video - as always. Nothing to do with the craft Matt but I just wanted to comment on your videos. You do such a great job of keeping it to crafting and all you personal comments at bay. When I take the time to watch a video if the demonstrator elaborates too much on their weekend or the kids popping in and out or their new nail polish I quickly move on to someone else. I'm watching only for crafting purposes. I watch all your videos. Because of you I go to the bank way too often!!

I have been creating on my self-healing quilting mat on my dining room table. It was not the best surface and I was evaluating replacement options to protect the table. Everything I looked at just seemed like a new version of that mat. When I saw Tim Holtz’s video of the media mat before creativation, I was very excited. I put in a pre-order and waiting with no patience for it to arrive. I love it. I feel like you do - everything I wished for in a table-protecting media surface. Thanks for sharing your tips and observations!

I absolutely love my mat - can't remember how I worked before! What I love is it keeps the mess away from my work surface -- all the "extra" stuff like containers, and glues that I don't have in my hand but will need or intermittently need, all are on the outside of the mat. My actual space to work on is clean and clear of everything except what I'm using at the moment.

As a bit of a “type A” personality who happens to be a lefty, this mat poses a few issues for me. The fabulous white space on the right for mixing and blending is on the wrong side. If I were to flip the mat around so that the white space were on the left, the measurement numbers would all be upside down and that definitely would not work for me. Since I don’t have a large desk or workspace, flipping the mat around during a project is completely impractical. There are so many wonderful things about this mat I find myself tempted to make the purchase. But if I’m honest with myself I know that the upside down numbers would drive me crazy and I would not use the mat often enough to justify the purchase. Perhaps one day there will be an option for the 10% of us who happen to be lefties (I bought new labels for my MISTI & now I’m a happy camper there!! Lol). Thanks for sharing such a wonderfully detailed review of this product Jennifer and I hope you’re having a fabulous week. ~HUGS~

You could just move the silicon mat to the left side? It would show you the stamp easily enough. What I like is not only does it show me that I've inked it thoroughly, it shows me if I've gotten it clean as well.

The ruler accessory doesn’t line up straight with the grid on the mat. Tim said it was due to manufacturing by different companies. He also said you can unscrew the screws on the ruler slightly, line it up, and screw it in place again. Just an FYI

I have the same problem with mine. It's only a couple of mms, but making cards needs to be perfect, as we deal with measurements as tiny as 1mm or 1/8th of an inch. Have emailed my supplier, so if using the scrwes to adjust it, I may void my warranty. I've seen quite a few people have the same problem.

Love my mat and have used it for about 2 years now. Three suggestions I should send to Tim: Make it longer/wider, make it magnetic (at least in one area to hold paper down while buffing on ink) and put thicker grid lines for the most commonly used card sizes, in the center or to one side.

The new Media Mat is hard to come by in my area. They are not sold at my close-by craft supply stores. BUT, my daughter lives in our state capital, has the advantage of being on a first name basis with the owner of her favorite craft store. She ordered a Media Mat for me for my birthday, which was in May, but I am finally getting it this coming weekend. I am so excited to have this. Jennifer, I love EVERYTHING Tim Holtz makes! He has forever changed the way we create artistically and physically! The only thing I would change is the black color. I would choose white so you can see better to mix colors on both sides and also see where you have ink on the black side so you don’t drag your project thru some remaining ink. I use two glass mats - either WRMK and /or Tonic Studios mats side by side with his accessories - lighter to pick up and easier to clean! Love them!

I just got mine last week (late to the party!) and I love it! So easy to clean and the black is great against white card bases. I also love that it has inches and centimeters as my old mat just had metric and I'm definitely an imperial girl! I found that the card slides around quite a bit when I'm ink blending so I've also invested in a Waffle Flower Media Mat. Can't wait to receive that too. Thanks for all you do x

I've had my mat several months. I am going to try and use it again. I didn't peel the craft sheet off right when I got it and it stuck to the glass. The only way to remove it was just pull it up. It put holes in the mat and I had to scrape off residue. I wrote Tonic for a replacement craft sheet and it took 2 months to get it! I don't often use it because of video lighting issues and it's kinda heavy to pack around. I do like that it levels out my table which dips slightly in the center, making my cutter go wonky. I'm going to give it another go because I know you really test things before suggesting them. Thank you!

Thanks for all the lovely tips Jennifer. I finally got my glass media mat after waiting patiently for five months' as the UK never got their first shipment until this month. I absolutely love the last tip you gave, where I can use the white panel with my Misti stamping platform as I currently have to put a white piece of paper under the lid so I can see where I have inked my stamp. I too have a black self-healing cutting mat so my white card stands out more - which made stamping harder. This will mean I can now do everything on my Tim Holtz/Tonic cutting mat instead. Like everyone who owns this mat... I absolutely love it. I store the 'stick on' mat underneath it so it's always handy. :) Lisamarie. x

I got my mat several month's ago...but am battling whether I like it or not..... I love the measuring part of it... and cleaning it is quite easy....my problem is I am a little heavy handled due to a tremor and I will set my card down to do something on it and it slides all over the place..... and that is really discouraging. And I have scratched it as well...which surprised me.... I think for "me" I will go back to the self healing mat unless I'm doing painting. Thank you so so much for a great demo for this mat... it will probably work for most. 😏

I've been working on the Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat for several months now. Like Jennifer, I like working on the black surface. It was the first thing that drew me to the mat when I first heard about it. The one negative to the black surface is that I have to remember to clean it off when I'm creating backgrounds because I can't always see inks on it and if I lay a white card base down on it I'll get ink on the card itself. That's not a deal breaker, I just got used to cleaning the surface often. I removed the white silicone-backed craft mat and keep it rolled up to use when I go to classes. It is handy so that if I need to do a wrinkle-free distress background I can pull it out. One negative to the white mat - it cuts easily, just like the brown teflon one does. I wasn't careful when I put scissors down and have a nick in mine. The ease of cleaning this mat is not exaggerated. I have found one thing that does not come off easily - Krylon or PenTouch markers. I often use these to edge my cards and ATCs and have found that if they've dried completely I can't rub them off with water, alcohol, or hand sanitizer. I have to use acetone and a scraper. Knowing that, I put a piece of scrap paper under whatever I'm edging so that the excess marker goes onto the paper, not the Media Mat. I use a surgical scalpel for my cutting so I keep a small self-healing mat next to my glass Media Mat. Maybe the best thing about it is that I can use ANYTHING on it. I do a lot of mixed media and it stands up to everything. All in all I have to agree with Jennifer. The Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat is my favorite crafting tool and I use it with every project I create. Thanks for the review, Jennifer!

I have been using this mat since before I saw it being used by Jennifer. I love it, but somehow, it doesn't quite work for me the way Tim Holtz said it would! Things still creep onto my workspace! LOL. But I use the mat every day, and I love it. The silicone mat that Jennifer takes off, I leave on. It's the perfect place to add adhesive to your projects. The adhesive does not stick to the mat, so projects come up easily, and, any glue that gets on there just rubs off with your fingers. I take it off when I want to use the palette underneath for water coloring or inking. I did have a problem with adhesive not coming off the black part, even using hand sanitizer, but I saw Tim Holtz at an expo, and spoke with him about it. He introduced me to the little spatula thing, which is also made of glass, although you can't tell. It works perfect. I can't speak highly enough on this mat. I love it, and have no regrets spending the money for it, although I did hesitate at first.

I actually have all 3 glass matts... Crafters Companion (for bigger work areas), Tim Holtz (for my desk because with computor not much room left), and the WeRMemory Keepers (for travel cause it's the perfect Size for that) I use them all! I love them all! Am I Spoiled? Yes! I will say the Tim Holtz is super cool because it's so versatile... Hope this helps anyone in the fence...
    Happy Crafting~☆! 😊

I just love this glass mat, but didn't want to take it to crops even though Tim said you could transport it around since it's tempered glass. Well, enter the travel glass media mat!!! That little guy is awesome - fits in my roller bag along with my Big Kick and all its accessories. Tonic/Tim have all the bases covered, that's for sure. I'm just hoping they'll come out with a shorter tool for aligning things on the travel mat as the one for the large mat is too long - it won't fit in the carrier. Cutting on the mats have not left a mark behind and that's a big advantage to me! I think it's also terrific that the lefties can get the original mat now! Too cool...

Gosh, Jennifer, you are always so very convincing. I was quite sure I won't need this glass mat - I have been without it for the whole of my life! Now I am .... thinking about it! If you could only hand deliver everything.... you wouldn't need cards! Although it would be the best thing ever and you would get to see the world! :-D

I have been waiting patiently for these to appear in the uk but so far I have not found a retailer with them in stock. However I do have an earlier version (not by Tim Holtz) gridded glass mat made by Tonic studios and I use it all the time - it sits on my desktop as a permanent fixture, and I find it incredibly useful. It shares many features with this one and the glass surface is very easy to clean. I hope the Tim Holtz version appears in UK shops soon!

So glad I got over that. Love it. Thanks for sharing. For the lefties: maybe if enough requests come in TH or Tonic will make one for lefties. Just an afterthought.
