I can't believe how good the bridge of this song is. Jesse spends the beginning of the song kinda accepting that the relationship is over, and trying to move on, but in the bridge it feels like he can't move on, he can't deny the fact that he loves her, and ends it with one of my favorite lyrics of all time: "You are the smell before rain, you are the blood in my veins" and that's when he gives up.
I dont know how true this is, but the smell before rain is supposed to be the culmination of the earth's pore opening up due to the change in weather. So technically speaking, the smell before rain is the smell of everything. She is his everything
