How To Send Money with Apple Pay
In this video, we’re going to take a look at how to send money using Apple Pay.
We’ll walk through sending money two different ways, the first through the Wallet App, and then after that, we’ll send some money using iMessage.
Before we send anything though, we need to first enable Apple Pay and Apple Cash, connect a bank account or debit card, and then add some funds.
To do this, open the Settings app.
Inside of here, scroll down and tap Wallet and Apple Pay.
Real quick, you’ll hear the terms Apple Pay and Apple Cash used back and forth. Apple Pay is the actual system that’s built into your iPhone that makes digital payments possible. Apple Cash on the other hand is like a prepaid debit card that lives inside your Wallet that allows you to store, send, and receive money.
At the top, make sure that Apple Cash is enabled. Next, add a bank or credit card if you haven’t already. This is how we’ll fund our Apple Cash. To do this, just tap add card, and then on the next screen debit or credit card, and then go through the steps to add your bank card.
Once you’re finished, you’ll see your card and the Apple Cash cards inside of the list here.
Now, if you want, you can add funds to your Apple Cash card, or when sending money and you don’t have enough funds, it will automatically pull from the card you just entered. But let’s add a little money manually.
Tap your Apple Cash card, and then inside of this menu, tap add money. Enter the amount that you want to add, and then hit add on the top right.
Next, confirm where the funds are coming from, and then authorize the transaction with Face ID or Touch ID.
Now that we have some money inside of our Apple Cash account, let’s send it to someone.
The first way we’ll look at is through the Wallet app. Close Settings, and then open Wallet.
Inside of here, find and choose your Apple Cash card. Here next to your balance, tap send or request.
Search for the contact you want to send money to, and then tap next.
Enter the amount of money you want to send, and when you’re ready, tap send at the bottom. It’ll then send the contact a message, where they can accept your money.
Next, let’s take a look at how to send money using Apple Cash inside of a text message. This will probably be the way you use this feature the most and is pretty simple.
Start by opening Messages, and then starting a text to the person you’re sending to.
Tap the plus sign on the left of the message bar and then choose Apple Cash.
Again, enter the amount of money you want to send to the contact, and hit send. It will then add it to a message, send it to the contact, where they can then accept the money on their end.
And that’s how you send Apple Cash money to other iPhone users using Apple Pay.
