    We (Wife and I) bought a 2021 GTS 300 and a 2022 GTS 125 from New and both had bushes that squeak! But after the first 200 miles no squeaking! I guess the bushes need time to be bed in! We love them, have long days out when the weather allows and plan a tour of Devon and Cornwall this summer, we live in Kent!

    Enjoyed the review not bothered about the swearing as here in GB it happens i have a 2015 model so the chrome switches and blue tooth thingy dont look much of an upgrade on the 2023 model. i bit the bullet a few months ago and got the GTS 300 after riding 2 stroke scooters for 46 years (at this time i still have a Vespa px and a Lambretta series 2 ) even after riding the traditional scooters the GTS is is such a great thing to ride its great to see that scooters are enjoyed by you guys across the pond ride safe and enjoy

      Thanks Ian! Yeah, I think we Americans still view scooters as more of a toy/hobby than a viable mode of transport. It's too bad really. Lots of reasons for it. Most of which aren't good...

    Thanks for sharing an enjoyable and informative look at your 2023 Vespa GTS. You raise issues that have kept me repairing my 2006 GTS rather than "endure" the indignities of a frustrating process of checking the oil, overly complex electronic gadgetry, and a sinking feeling that the older ones are actually a little better. So I'm left wondering whether to buy a new one when the time comes or opt for a pre-HPE model that was gently used. That means anything under 20K miles on the clock. For me anyway.
    Sure is a pretty looking scooter though. And like you, I love my Vespa scooters!

    • @itsthebugshow
      @itsthebugshow  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Howdy! Big fan of your channel. In fact a few of your videos helped inspire me to take the plunge on the Vespa.
      The one great thing about buying new is the warranty. It lets you work out all the bugs in the first two years, then after you just gotta hope you found them all!
      The bad thing about buying new is... Well, they're just expensive. Really expensive.
      For me, if I had any sort of mechanical aptitude I'd consider used. But I'm useless with a wrench.

    • @ScooterintheSticks
      @ScooterintheSticks ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@itsthebugshow I'm happy to hear you took the step to add a Vespa to your life. They are an amazing machine.
      Thinking about warranties I'm not sure if I've ever had a warranty repair on either my scooters or motorcycle. And none on my vehicles that I can remember. Recall stuff regarding airbags but that's it. I've gotten to the point where I warrant things myself and serve as the bank on anything vehicle I buy. And since "new" isn't so important to me I find myself riding and driving older things. I did buy the Himalayan new just because they're still rare to find.
      You are right about Vespa scooters being expensive. Really expensive. But considering I've been riding my GTS since 2006 it's been a reasonable expense.
      Looking forward to watching how fast a GTS will really go!

    I'm so happy you love your Vespa! I recently purchased a Piaggio MP3 530, actually the first one they have sold at Portland Vespa. Piaggio being the parent company of Vespa they interchange some of the parts like the weird feeling turn signal switch. I'm getting used to it but it doesn't feel the same as let's say the switch on my Honda. I put 650 miles on my Piaggio a couple weekends ago and love it. I've ridden in all sorts of weather and the dark. It's a joy to ride, I don't know what else to say.

    • @itsthebugshow
      @itsthebugshow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's great! I really liked the Piaggio Liberty 150 I had just before the GTS. It was reasonably priced and well made. I'd recommend them to anyone not obsessed with Vespas (like me). And Vespa Portland is the BEST. We're lucky to have them here.

    I think I agree with every one of your negative observations. I don't like the chrome escutcheons around all the switches, the painted area on the 2022 was a much better look. I've heard Robot also say the bluetooth and navigation is a complete joke. The only advantage I see to the key fob is, you could go swimming at the beach with just the RFID Chip zipped up in your trunks. Also, could this be an expensive fix ten years down the road when it fails ? Still, the 2023 has the upgraded front suspension and nicer two-tone wheels, albeit at a $700 price increase over the 2022.

    • @itsthebugshow
      @itsthebugshow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've yet to try that RFID idea but, yeah, it's actually a great idea. In fact, because the fob is so hard to replace right now (apparently even Robot can't get his hands on one) I might just start using it more regularly instead of bringing to fob out with me...

    Yes, doing 78 on the freeway is fun. People don't expect being passed by a scooter. And that is fun enough. Especially when it's Harley dudes.
    Just wondering what app you're using and the manufacturer of your phone mount.
    Thanks

    • @itsthebugshow
      @itsthebugshow  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did screw by a Harley guy the other day and that was about as much fun as one should be allowed!
      The app is just some generic freebee called Speedometer 55 or something. I'm sure it's harvesting every bank and credit card I'm associated with.
      The mount... It's a Quad Lock. I wouldn't recommend it. Ya gotta use their case, which doesn't allow for the iPhone to charge via the Mag Safe charger, so you gotta take it out of the case after using it. It's a pain. Their customer service was completely unwilling to deal with me about the charging issue.

      My wife for months was talking about Vespa. I though: well - it's just a scooter, and Vespa is expensive (it is the most expensive scooter), so maybe she should buy something else (in 125 class, due to she has no bike driving license, Vespa cost about 60-80% more then comparable Suzuki or even Piaggio), but when I saw Vespa and other scooters I understood what she meant. So we buy Vespa for her (and maybe I will buy a scooter for myself - I would prefer 300 but for this I need to get a license, so additional costs and time, or maybe I bought a Honda Grom, which is not a scooter but a funny little bike)...

    Nice bike... but wouldn't you rather have a Lambretta G350? ... just sayin'.

      I’ve never seen one in person, but I will admit it looks like a fine bike on paper.

    9k for a scooter??? 🤦🏽‍♂️ for that price get a real motorcycle. But Vespa’s are superb scooters and the do hold their value but at 9k+ new kinda hurts! Pre owned would be the way to go

    Lots of "I don't know..." If you don't know, don't give an opinion. Ridiculous. Waste of time.

    WAY overpriced. Buy a Yamaha. They are more reliable, handle much better and cost much less.

      On paper I'm sure there are better scooters out there. And if I were looking for something that I 100% had to depend on as my primary mode of transport (my Vespa pretty much is but I have a back-up truck) I might look elsewhere. I'm a realist. Especially if my livelihood depends on it.
      But, I'm a design freak. I put a LOT of stock in an object's aesthetic quality - not in a shallow way, but more in an admiration of the thought, history and so on behind how something is presented.
      My Vespa was and is an emotional investment. Just even looking at it brings a smile to my face. That's worth the problems and expense to me, at this point in my life.
      But yes. I really do agree they're overpriced.

      @bugpnw the way a motorcycle/scooter makes you feel. Is why we own them 👍

    Every GTS, has been a soulless, boring, rust prone, bag of sh*t. The last real Vespa was 2T, and had PX attached to the name, anything post, has been fit only for Pizza delivery, and those with real, or imagined, carpal tunnel syndrome.

    • @itsthebugshow
      @itsthebugshow  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've given this comment a lot of thought, and the best response I can come up with is, I think a GTS would be a terrible choice for pizza delivery.

      Or that people did not really understand your comment. Most people dont take their pizzas lightly. If its good enough for pizza delivery it must be a hell of a good scooter!
