Thanks Ian! Yeah, I think we Americans still view scooters as more of a toy/hobby than a viable mode of transport. It's too bad really. Lots of reasons for it. Most of which aren't good...
Thanks for sharing an enjoyable and informative look at your 2023 Vespa GTS. You raise issues that have kept me repairing my 2006 GTS rather than "endure" the indignities of a frustrating process of checking the oil, overly complex electronic gadgetry, and a sinking feeling that the older ones are actually a little better. So I'm left wondering whether to buy a new one when the time comes or opt for a pre-HPE model that was gently used. That means anything under 20K miles on the clock. For me anyway. Sure is a pretty looking scooter though. And like you, I love my Vespa scooters!
Howdy! Big fan of your channel. In fact a few of your videos helped inspire me to take the plunge on the Vespa. The one great thing about buying new is the warranty. It lets you work out all the bugs in the first two years, then after you just gotta hope you found them all! The bad thing about buying new is... Well, they're just expensive. Really expensive. For me, if I had any sort of mechanical aptitude I'd consider used. But I'm useless with a wrench.

I'm so happy you love your Vespa! I recently purchased a Piaggio MP3 530, actually the first one they have sold at Portland Vespa. Okay, you got me. I frequin subscribed. I had a 2018 GTS 300 and loved 97% of it. Sad to hear the blinkers still blow and the speedo casts doubt. Don't piss and moan like I did otherwise the Piaggio gods come after you. How dare you not accept the inadequacie😮s of a tippy top dollar product. Oh, does the gas tank still spit fuel at you and do all the bars light up on the fuel gauge? Like my Beverly 350T better with all the same Piaggio issues except bigger.
Oh yes, she's a spitter. Just about every time I fill up I get some splash-back. I've decided to find it charming. No prob with the fuel gauge but someone did mention in the comments or somewhere that one should completely power down the scooter before filling. Otherwise if you leave the ignition on it can get confused and take a while for the bars to all light up.

Do you mean for the speedo? It's called Speedometer 55 or something like that. Or do you mean to connect to the Vespa? That, I believe, is just called Vespa. There are some other Piaggio apps I believe, but this one on my phone just says Vespa. It's awful. I mean, truly terrible. Enjoy!
9k for a scooter??? 🤦🏽♂️ for that price get a real motorcycle. But Vespa’s are superb scooters and the do hold their value but at 9k+ new kinda hurts! Pre owned would be the way to go
On paper I'm sure there are better scooters out there. And if I were looking for something that I 100% had to depend on as my primary mode of transport (my Vespa pretty much is but I have a back-up truck) I might look elsewhere. I'm a realist. Especially if my livelihood depends on it. But, I'm a design freak. I put a LOT of stock in an object's aesthetic quality - not in a shallow way, but more in an admiration of the thought, history and so on behind how something is presented. My Vespa was and is an emotional investment. Just even looking at it brings a smile to my face. That's worth the problems and expense to me, at this point in my life. But yes. I really do agree they're overpriced.
Every GTS, has been a soulless, boring, rust prone, bag of sh*t. The last real Vespa was 2T, and had PX attached to the name, anything post, has been fit only for Pizza delivery, and those with real, or imagined, carpal tunnel syndrome.
Or that people did not really understand your comment. Most people dont take their pizzas lightly. If its good enough for pizza delivery it must be a hell of a good scooter!

@@itsthebugshow key out of ignition as must be done on my Beverly in order to unlock the gas cap cover. Even rocking her side to side watching air bubbles rise and gas is level with the neck opening and still doesn't shows full.
You shouldn't delete my comment about "Vespa" app that is communicating excellent with the bike (music, phone, messages and navigation)
Agreed. What though? I don't delete comments, I just make fun of them.
I went with the BV 400 much better value. Sold my GTS and love Vespas but, the BV is a better deal.
Hard to argue on that one. They certainly are a great deal.
Too big? Less nimble…
@@yvanglav4344 7000 miles later, super nimble, faster, more storage room, great mpg. Just did LA, Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach and back, she was awesome. Again, I love Vespas, for me it was just a better tool for what I do.
What is the name of the mobile app you use?
Do you mean for the speedo? It's called Speedometer 55 or something like that. Or do you mean to connect to the Vespa? That, I believe, is just called Vespa. There are some other Piaggio apps I believe, but this one on my phone just says Vespa. It's awful. I mean, truly terrible. Enjoy!
what speed app is that?
This guy is comic gold.
Lewis Black you there?
I'll take that!
98% awesome makes 2 % not, easily acceptable. "class, today's guest for show and tell about scooters has been canceled"
I CANNOT REMEMBER HOW TO SET A CLOCK 100TIMES AFTER
Nice bike... but wouldn't you rather have a Lambretta G350? ... just sayin'.
I’ve never seen one in person, but I will admit it looks like a fine bike on paper.
sounds similar to harley ownership
I would rather be seen on a Vespa than a Harley.
too many negatives
9k for a scooter??? 🤦🏽♂️ for that price get a real motorcycle. But Vespa’s are superb scooters and the do hold their value but at 9k+ new kinda hurts! Pre owned would be the way to go
Lots of "I don't know..." If you don't know, don't give an opinion. Ridiculous. Waste of time.
Thanks for your positivity!
WAY overpriced. Buy a Yamaha. They are more reliable, handle much better and cost much less.
Yeh but it’s not a Vespa!
If cost effectiveness is your focus, you should probably look elsewhere…
@bugpnw the way a motorcycle/scooter makes you feel. Is why we own them 👍
Good review, nice flow.
Nice glasses also care to name them?
Every GTS, has been a soulless, boring, rust prone, bag of sh*t. The last real Vespa was 2T, and had PX attached to the name, anything post, has been fit only for Pizza delivery, and those with real, or imagined, carpal tunnel syndrome.
I've given this comment a lot of thought, and the best response I can come up with is, I think a GTS would be a terrible choice for pizza delivery.
Perhaps you're not thinking hard enough.@@itsthebugshow
@@grahamherbert3612Or, maybe because he understood that the rest of your comment didn't deserve a response.
Or that people did not really understand your comment. Most people dont take their pizzas lightly. If its good enough for pizza delivery it must be a hell of a good scooter!
Tried to watch this with my son, but turned it off after a minute because boomer boy thinks swearing makes him look cool. Total fail.
Boomer boy. That’s a new one. Thanks for stopping by.
