    Lee Sklar is the bass player, an absolute legend. Recorded more albums than any other bassist, over 2000 albums. Has a great TH-cam channel himself. Also has a pictorial book, every gig he played he photographed the performers giving him the bird - he’s quite a character!

      Was going to say the same thing, he is all over TH-cam showing people how to play bass on some of the tracks he played on. He is a legend 100%.

      @@iankearns774 I also like that he’s not a gear addict, just has a few basses and uses minimal electronics. The magic is in the fingers and his understanding of the piece he’s playing. Oh, and knowing when NOT to play.

    Hey Man, welcome to the incredible world of Toto, have loved these guys since first hearing "Hold the Line" and "Rosanna" back in the late 70's. They are muso's musos and super nice people to boot. They forged their own genre fusing rock/jazz/soul/blues/metal/pop/world/classical into one musical form. If you loved this wait'll you hear their classic stuff, a few others are "Africa", "Pamela" , "I'll be over you" and "I'll supply the love" they're great in the studio and so much better live, great vocals and vocal harmonies, great songwriting, so tight, so polished and so dynamic, enjoy the journey, cheers

    "The Lawyer", GREG PHILLINGANES is one of the most sought after session musicians on the planet. He stood in for David Paich for a few tours.

      Just realized he is playing with pink Floyd's David Gilmour and then goes back to Toto. He played with Michael Jackson, he came up with the thriller synths. Some of Toto's members contributed to the thriller album. The song Human Nature was originally a toto member's song, the other keyboard player, one of the porcaro brothers, Quincy Jones had someone else add lyrics, but the other keyboard/piano player, David Paich came up with that synth from the beginning of the song, I don't know if any other parts. The guitar player, Steve Lukather did the guitar part. He also did beat it guitar riff and bass. He also did at least one of the songs Paul McCartney comes on. These are master musicians

    This band started in the late 70's & has been performing for over 40 years now. They mix all types of genres in their sound. They have had some great hits such as "Hold The Line", "Africa", "Rosanna", "I'll Supply The Love", "Georgy Porgy", "99", "Make Believe", "Stranger In Town", "I'll Be Over You", "Without Your Love", "Stop Loving You", "Pamela" etc.

    You should love these guys.....some of the greatest voices in Rock, one of the best guitar players in Rock, best keys, best drums. You can listen to any song off of any of their many, many cds and this statement is consistantly true. That is why they have worked as studio musicians on everybody elses cd's and why they have had everyone in the business singin and playin on theirs since the 70's.....people like Michael McDonald from the Doobie Brothers and even the great Miles Davis sand and played on one of their cd's. That's about as good as endorsements get. Right? Am so glad you are giving these guys a listen. They are incredible.

I so wish I had the money, you’d be playing stuff from the Live in 1990 DVD too! Haha Also Luke, and the keyboardist in this DVD (Greg Phillinganes) were musicians on the Thriller album. THANK YOU for reacting to this. ❤️

I was always a fan of Leland, but when I learned that he learned the whole set in a short amount of time it made me an even bigger fan of him. Mike was an incredible bassist as well.

Since there was two Steve’s in the group, Steve Lukather became Luke. Toto is still touring (even now after Covid). Luke and Joseph Williams (the singer now) are still going strong. Toto!! One of the most amazing bands on planet, not only as a band, but as individual musicians. Lee Sklar (Gandalf), is one of the most sought after bass players on the planet. The list of the artists he has played with will blow your mind, James Taylor, Phil Collins to just name two. Greg Philanganes is the GOAT! He played with Michael Jackson in his early years as a solo artist and is one of the best keyboard players on the planet. You should youtube search both these guys. Simon Phillips is a beast on the drums. When Jeff died, Toto approached him and asked him to join the band. Simon is not a Jeff clone and nor was he meant to be. He brought a different feel to the band - not better, not worse, just different. Some people didnt like him, but thats okay. And then Steve Lukather (Luke), the guitarist, there are few better than him. For sure their are more technical players than him, but when it comes to nuance, the list at the top that includes him is very small indeed.
    Bobby Kimball, the original vocalist with the band left for reasons not worth discussing here. But he was asked back for this tour. His voice is amongst the best male vocalists ever.
    Toto!! The best all round bad ever!!

  • @MandyRRAh

    Glad someone introduced to the magnificent Toto. My lucky daughters have had no choice! The original Toto (only Lukather is left, but heaven knows the players they have are brilliant) had trouble with a few of their lead singers getting themselves into bother with substances and being unable to sing. Rumour has it that they asked John Farnham! He'd just escaped The Little River band, which was too restrictive for him, so he passed. I think he would have enjoyed it, but he's a family man.

Not to leave out Bobby Kimble he was an absolute animal as a singer back in the day. I have a Toto Tribute Band and we play allot of these deep cuts... its almost better than the hits, very difficult but great when you nail it...Eddie V always said Toto is a musicians band...Unfortunately Bobby now has dementia and the rest of the great musicians are gone except Steve and Joseph who came back....

    • @TinyTeaKettle
      @TinyTeaKettle 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah wanted to say the same. Bobby has some slight auto tune added to his signal. You can hear the correction artifacts sometimes in the note changes. Don't mind it that much as Bobby is very capable of singing tone correct. Guess it was just more of a stylistic choice than a helper to sing correct here.

    • @t-man78
      @t-man78 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very late to the game here, but anyway... 😊
      On this tour they were sponsored by TC Electronics, so each of them had a VoiceLive 3, with various degrees of auto-tune (Greg Phillinganes on the keys sound likes a frickin robot 😬) which to me is a shame. Fortunately they've never used auto-tune before or since

    Originally with Jeff Porcaro (R.I.P) David Paich,Steve Lukather, Steve Porcaro, David Hungate,Bobby Kimball who are the first incarnation of TOTO and there's been so many other great respected muso's in the band
