Ballsy move throwing the sentinel on here lol. That one alone might piss people off but I see why you threw it up. Agree it shouldn't have those issues for the price.
The Sentinel is disappointing, but not surprising. I would have backed it for sure, but I assumed Hasbro was gonna Hasbro. Having structural issues on a tall, $300+ figure is just inexcusable.
I just noticed you had Sphynx on this and last year's list. I ended up getting him for $8 on Amazon and gave him a good paintjob (I.E. just a black/brown wash and gold rub 'n' buff in spots) now he looks ready to do some damage. Mine articulates pretty well too, not sure if you just got a bum one in that department but hey. Honestly I think Hasbro's biggest issue across the board is the fact they have their fingers in so many franchise pies, I feel like there's not a lot of effort to go around. The whole appeal of the Sentinel was its size, I knew it wouldn't be the most articulated but even still I was taken aback by the knee issue. It's a statement piece and I've seen some excellent displays/photos with the thing, but I'm glad I can enjoy it from a distance.
I'd take them in a heart beat, tear off the hair, little bit o paint, different hair sculpts, different bodies, and you have an army of idiots screaming their heads off running at your choice of hero
You’re right about Maul. They charged a over 25 for such a tiny figure. I actually thought it was supposed to be teenage Maul. The cost of the figure plus shipping made him my #1 regrettable purchase of the year because BBTS are poopy about returns.
A bit shocked to see Steppenwolf and Darkseid in the list. I own both they are awesome. I would only criticize the lack of stability in Steppenwolf tho
@@waleslandofdragons8842 If only SteppenWolf could stand for a week in a row, I given up on him, mine have no loose joints but the feet's end up giving up at some point and he falls at least once a week, no villains to go against my Justice League Snyder's Cut action figures
I’m definitely noticing more & more people unsatisfied by Haslab, been exacerbated by the disappointment of Rancor feeling overpriced as well to some & the whole debacle along the way, too many haslabs in a row pretty much, the Razorcrest being successful just to be vaporized in show like a week later, etc. now I’m sure the Sentinel figures may be someone else’s top 10 best I’m sure but good point putting it here.
It's not surprising that Hasbro followed up the Sentinel with their biggest possible figure, all before the Sentinel dropped and we learned of its critiques. Galactus is undoubtedly the largest figure they will ever attempt at a Haslab, as who could be bigger? They knew they had to pump that out ASAP, before people caught on to the schemes and quality of these projects. That's in part of why the Rancor failed. I bought Sentinel and I backed Galactus, but that was only after I knew the tiers were added and I got more value out of the price. I enjoy my Sentinel, but I fully empathize with the criticism of Haslabs from a mega corporation
I think it's great how you trash bad figures in an honest and slightly brutal way. I would love to see and hear you tear apart a Super 7 figure. Doesn't mather which one. They're all crap. I really want to know how you think about that Company because lazyness and bad qc is like their thing.
I got exactly what I expected with Haslab Sentinel. It's still made by the same Hasbro people who make the other Legends. Low quality is basically a standard for them, yes sometimes they get it right but not normally. The high price was solely about the size, I never expected higher quality. Also mine stands fine and has all tight joints.
Definitely a fan of top tens or end of the year lists like this. Damn, I bought that gold label Darkseid and have been on the fence about opening him. Kind of worried Galactus may have the same issues as the Sentinel.
I'm really glad you didn't shy away from putting the Sentinel. You shouldn't dislike those types of videos, they need to exist as a buyers beware, it really helps collectors on a budget.
Even in the film I wasnt the biggest fan of the design. The red and gold and that last suit are pretty nice though. Fingers crossed Tom Holland gets the real black suit soon 😂
For me, the McFarlane Bane BAF is the worst of the year. It made me quit McFarlane all together and im not missing them at all. Just absolute trash. Poor paint on all the figs, terrible articulation and cheesing customers with not including the alternate heads and all the stupid finger guns!!!
I just started to collect mcfarlane dc multiverse and I’m so confused on how I feel about them. I love my John Stewart green lantern fig but since than I bought a few more and well they are lack luster. Out of the 10 or 12 I have I bought most of them on sale and the majority close to half off, not good for the line but makes me feel better about what I got for the price.
Good list. I don't like any of these except the Goku. And the only reason I like him is because he's my only powered up version of Goku lol. Mine has the same issues plus some weird issues with one of the legs and ankles, but still need him to fill a spot on the shelf. Thanks for the video and hope you have a happy new year Anthony!
I had to rewatch this to make sure I heard correctly. Did you say The Hood was the worst figure? Or the most versatile figure ever made? It was hard to tell with your accent.
Great list. The hood would have been my number 1 but i just found so much versatility with him. Did some small customization with him, and I mainly used him as a bruce banner. I got him for 10$ and i can live with that.
I'd disagree on the Kenshiro's face not looking like Kenshiro. It doesn't match the anime or the early volumes of the manga, but it looks pretty close to Tetsuo Hara's art starting from about a quarter way through the original manga to this current day, which is what I prefer. The only nitpicks I could make are that they eyebrows are slightly less thick than I'd like, and that his skin is ever so slightly more wrinkled than I have ever seen him be. The QC for the cost is atrocious though, I'm glad I passed on him for the time being.
I can’t comment on the other figures in the list but I have Steppenwolf and I like him. A character called “The hood” not being able to wear his hood properly is pretty funny though.
Lol I knew Kenshiro was going to be on there somewhere. And I mostly agree. The face is like they couldn’t decide between the tv series face and the movie face. It’s just kind of weird. It looks good, it just doesn’t look like the Kenshiro they were going for. It does kind of look like the later versions, but from everything I can tell, that’s not who it’s supposed to be. And I’m really surprised at the HasLab Sentinel. Mine stands up really well. But I’ve seen people all over complaining about it’s stability. I don’t have any of the others, so can’t really say much. And most of the figures I bought are from previous years. I get a kick out of your worst of the year videos, because some of these figures really need to be stopped….no matter the cost
I'm not a reviewer so being able to make a worst action figure of the year list based on my own action figures would be a bad sign for my collection. Thanks for yours Anthony.
I'd say for me these aren't the worst but there are disappointments to be had. SSJ Goku - Personally I love mine given the price point. But maybe I was lucky in not getting a dud. Steppnwolf - I'm happy with the figure but the Mcfarlane articulation hurts it for me, especially after seeing how badass he was in the real movie. Darkseid - Those arms need fixing badly and the upper thighs need fixing. My real issue with this release is the disrepect. Making the desirable armored Darkseid a hard to get exclusive only announced after Amazon shipped the shirtless guy. King Sphinx - Honestly either you love Power Rangers or you don't. This certainly shouldn't be the thing that takes you out of the line but Hasbro still did bad. They didn't paint the nose and mouth. The made an 8inch scale figure in a 6inch scale line where the show depicts this guy are being the height of the rangers. I don't understand the thought process. The joints are tight on mine.
It's not really an issue of sculpt anymore. What's the point of sculpt if the release doesn't bring out the details with say a wash. Customizing your figure should be a fun thing to do. Not required. You aren't making statues, so fix your articulation along with not using materials that turn something flexible into a stone.
I really wanted a darth maul especially with the new standard that black series is putting in their figures but you are right that darth maul other than the face looks more like a figure from the beginning of BS line. Such a shame.
I really love the hood figure! Was the sleeper hit of the wave! Reason .1 where else are you gonna find such a unique laughable head sculpt like this?! I mean its weird and stupid, but i like it for that reason, we rarely have sculpts where the facial features are just someone going batshit insane! Reason 2. The body is good fodder for background shots, and although I'll be the first to admit how much this buck gets on my nerves with how good it should be, its one of the most mass produced civilian figures we have, and i like the goofy color choices! Reason 3. The accessories are nice to have like you said, the cape, the gun effects, love this figure, but yeah you're right, body, hood dont fit, dont work. But I'll defend that head til the day i die! Haha
I'm glad I'm not alone on this. Hood just isn't worth full price. Find him on sale and he's fantastic for all the wrong reasons (Meme-worthy head, dildo blast effects, color scheme that looks like Peter Griffin wearing a Members Only Jacket, etc.). Guns are actually pretty nice, think they might be the same mold as Movie Deadpool?
I would include the retro Spider-Man 2099 on my list, that crap is one of the worst re-releases from Hasbro, also the figures from the McFarlane Dark Father wave, maximum garbage
