Obviously using a external HR sensor is best as you pointed out. Additionally the accuracy is probably negligible for weight training since you are really not evaluating your cardio performance as you would during cycling or running. In my opinion the best aspect of a good watch is more related with the addition configurations of capturing continuous HR and pulse oximetry or perhaps EKG. Plus the fitness test that the watches can preform such as the Polar Vantage V2 or GritX Pro. The Apple Watch hasn’t been designed to have fitness performance features that the Garmin’s and Polar’s have had but I’m sure Apple will have 3rd party Apps or perhaps acquire them eventually.

Sometimes I think it’s comparing apples and orange for people with some arrhythmias (I am old enough that I get PVC here and there and probably worsen during exercise but generally benign), you can have ekg showing 120 and pulse rate of 60 and both can be accurate if you see the pleth on the arterial line monitor that half of the contraction didn’t generate a pulse (consider a bigeminy pvc). I wish they just call them pulse rate instead of heart rate if that’s all they can pick up.

    • @anthonyanthony2783
      @anthonyanthony2783 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Note that you shouldn't wear it too snuggly. It should fit in a way it simply doesn't feel too tight or too loose.
However the issue you're describing has forever been with the Apple Watch. I've had a Series 2 first, then a Series 4 and now I own the Series 7. All had that issue. There is no solving it. They only thing you can do which does help is to pause the workout when the heart rate doesn't show, open the heart rate measurement app and let it measure your HR, then go back to the workout app and resume the workout. That should solve it.
It's very very strange indeed because the Apple Watch only gets heart rate readings from the same source, there aren't multiple sources (unless you hold the digital crown but that's something else) and so the HR measurement info that comes into the workout app is the same as from the HR app so why it works in one app and not the other is a mystery. But that's how it is... seems to be software and Apple has never fixed it.

    Hi !
Personally I just don’t like the ultra for the price and what the Apple Watch offers, yes there’s a features for divers .. but come on .. Appart from that this is just a big battery Apple Watch .. paying a 1000 (in France) for a bigger one ..
I’m sure a 265 could do the work as well ?
By the way, is the 265 and 965 could as accurate as the epix pro ?
This video was very good tho ! Love to see you every time

Saw somewhere, perhaps Instagram, that Joe Rogan had a new Fenix Pro (or Epix Pro...I can't remember...lol) but nonetheless he said since he has tattoos where the sensor sits it wasn't reporting his heart rate. So he bought a strap. Any comments on the sensor and accuracy with tattoos?

Every sensor does have problems with tattoos and this will never go away. It's because of the tattoos.

There should be virtually no difference between the 2 watches. I wear 2 watches 24/7: Apple Watch Ultra and Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar. That’s been my experience. But while at rest, the Ultra doesn’t monitor your heart rate continuously. Every 5 minutes or so. The 7X heart rate monitor stays on all of the time, so the measurement is continuous. Yet the numbers when rolled up will be virtually the same.
Also, I do weight training, stationary biking, treadmill, and mini-trampoline workouts. Comparing the two, I found the same as Des: sometimes the Ultra is a little more accurate, sometimes the 7X is a little more accurate. But still, they are very close.

@@Zane_Zaminsky So if the Garmin is measuring more often throughout the day, would you say the calories burned are more accurate? Since the Ultra may not be counting slight elevated heart rates from walking around the house, etc.?

@@DesFit sorry didn't mean it that way. I genuinely want to know which one is more accurate. I got the swim 2 after watching your review on it and then upgraded to Forerunner 255. AWU is no way near Garmin's metrics and Garmin's suggested interpretation of them. The AWU just gives data. Instead of AWU attempting to catch up on its quest to re-invent the Garmin wheel, it would be better off allowing the Garmin Connect app to operate on it. This would be a major game changer.
In my experience, despite having AWU I can't leave my Iphone at home at home. when out on a bike ride. If I have a roadside event that I need to Uber it home I still need my Iphone for that because the Uber app on AWU doesn't work. I can't message anyone either as the Messenger app doesn't work on AWU.
My Garmin edge head unit doesn't work on AWU. Post ride you can't review your ride/run efforts on AWU.
Aside from these beefs the AWU is a great watch. If it could sort out these beefs to allow me to leave to truly leave the phone at home it would shave off considerable weight having to be carted around. That's gotta be good for everyone's heart rate.
