    Marisha: I do care deeply about the rest of my company members are equally as thrilled...
    Sam: Has D&DBeyond fired us from their sponsorship yet?

      lmao yes! It almost feels like Sam is TRYING to make that happen now, he's just getting more and more wild with his ads and I love it!

      Mad Monster and that’s why they keep coming back for more, plus I think at this point they are the most popular piece of DnD media.

      Seeing as D&DBeyond has been expanding their sponsorships recently I'd say Sam's ads have driven a lot of paying customers their way so they are more than happy with their future president. #MakeSamericaGreatAgain

    Still dont get it H P lovecraft lived during a much harder time with a dystopian view., and a fairly short life, why is he a ”Dick” ?..

    Loved the question on Matthew's inspiration, always feels good to have someone you look up to explain one of their methods and find out it's pretty much how you think of the matter too.

      Unlike in D&D, on youtube perhaps it is best to just ignore trolls. Blasphy B is all over the place in the comments trying to say the most offensive thing possible. No actual purpose but dropping hate. Pretty sad.

      You either take the whole package or fuck off. I'm tired of people thinking they can "take it and make it better." That's why we get remakes X5 and reboots X3. I guess I can simplify this for you and say if you're so much better, go write something original and prove it.

    Quality over quantity doesn't really rhyme with: "Everything is content". Jokes aside CR and everybody in it are great, even Max
    I wonder if Valery will get scared by roughly 748+ hours of content

    5:20 Matt Mercer shitting on Tolkien. If you don't like Tolkien then you'd better have some better reasons than that

    • @mayaenglish5424
      @mayaenglish5424 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd hardly call it shitting on Tolkien lol. He said he's inspired by it but acknowledges some flaws that are indicative of the era in which it was written. Hardly a scathing critique. He also basically set out the concept of historical relativism for enjoying said content, just not drawing on those specific aspects that have grown less acceptable for inspiration in future works. Now, if you were an upset Lovecraft fan I might understand lol. Though I think even fan's of Lovecraft have to admit that he was a dick. A Genius! But a Dick.

      @@mayaenglish5424 see the tweets he made on the same day about Tolkien. He's shitting on Tolkien because its polarizing and it helps to elevate his own work.

      @@asdasdaayayayay1193 The motivation you think you see Is simply not there as far as I can tell. It's fine if you think he's wrong, but to say that's why he's doing it seems odd to me. If you look at Matt in general he's pretty much the opposite of attention grabbing and polarizing for the sake of it lol. In fact he's often too sincere for his own good.

    I love you Matt but how is LOTR problematic, it is the most pure heartwarming story ever written.

    • @stephaniepoole1070
      @stephaniepoole1070 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Thesepretzelssuckass 2 I’ve seen him retweet articles about how, for example, races like orcs are shown as mindless savages without much depth, and how sometimes in the past there have been questionable similarities between some of the less “sophisticated” fantasy races to real races of people that can be seen as problematic. So perhaps he’s referencing something along those lines when he brought up LOTR? Just some food for thought! Have a good one!

    • @Quotenwagnerianer
      @Quotenwagnerianer 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@stephaniepoole1070 If that is the case then I have to strongly disagree with Matt there. Tolkien was an escapist. His goal was to invent a kind of faux folklore and legends which the anglosaxons simply lacked. That is why he drew heavily from sources from the 9th Century. It is an attempt to write something that could have been written 1000 years ago.
      And as such you can't expect it to be modern in any way.

    • @Angelos42
      @Angelos42 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Stephanie Poole the difference is that back when Tolkien was writing not everything in books had to be about real life people or events. People could just let books be books, but now people will accuse you of a lot of shit because of stuff that happens in fiction.
