One thing that helped me was using a few butter knives to slide under the metal clips when trying to push dispenser in to remove. Can wedge in place. I used 4. Careful, the clips are sharp
I discovered that the reason my soap dispenser wasn't opening sometimes was because I had thought the recessed area on the front of the top rack was a handy area for placing lids for washing. This is NOT the case! One day, when closing the door, I realized that In fact the soap dispenser sits neatly in the recessed area. Thus when I put lids in, the soap dispenser couldn't open. On those occasions when I didn't put lids in there, it worked. Once I stopped putting lids in there I have not had a problem.
