Another great follow up video mate. I've not ignored your reply you made to me, I've just been busy last few days. I'm trying to put something together to give you a reply that isn't 50,000 words long lol. I think it's great you and Sioux have a backup location to go to if things really get bad and you have already prepared a shelter. Have you thought of burying a cache at that location? plastic resealable barrel ( you can buy different sizes ) is ideal for creating a cache as the plastic won't rot. Buy yourself on of those vacuum sealers and buy the rolls of vacuum bags. If you get the roll you can make individual bags as small or as long as you like. vacuum everything that's going in your cache. I made lots of individual bags for the items in my cache the reason being you keep the things you don't need to use sealed for another time. In the bags vacuum sealed you keep everything fresh, dry and protected and place them then in the cache. Bury it close to your camp and put some kind of marker that only you will know what it means. Therefore if you do have to leave your van in a hurry you don't have to struggle carrying lots of supplies to your camp, it's already there waiting for you.

Sioux has a vacuum sealer. And bags. When we have cooked to much we seal it and freeze. She also have a dehydration thing, We did think about a cache but haven't yet done so, will sort that.

@@Roadshome also when you reach camp try lining the inside walls/ceiling and doorway with those mylar survival sheets/blankets. That way you become almost invisible with your thermal signature when in your shelter. Stealth will become your friend.

Only just seen this reply, that's a great idea. Those reflective survival bags would also reflect heat back to us if they were on the roof and walls.

Definitely mate. USA is calling for bidden to stand down now. Trump has said if starma gives back the islands he will punish the UK for is by making it cost us. The people running our country have us on our knees. We can't give anymore.

@@Roadshome whether or not WW3 is about to kick off or not or are the farmers going to go on strike is all up in the air. What I do predict will happen very soon is people will start panic buying especially with what's happening in the news and being so close to Christmas. That will have a knock on affect and before you know it the supermarket shelves will be empty. I'd advise now anyone with some spare cash to quietly ( shopping very early or late ) start stocking up and not drawing attention to yourself.

    • @Roadshome
      @Roadshome  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@spudman869 myself and sioux have stocked up with what we can. We are good, shopping now is a matter of restocking. Not vital. Thank you for coming back and making a comment. Let's hope everyone is OK. It's going to be a hard Christmas my friend.

The object is to get out and away from the Cities... Away from Civilization. We have vans, that is an advantage.. But one has to move before the Bang happens.. The motorways will be jam packed with people panicking ! You have shit it if you stay in your houses.. Everybody will want what you have to offer.

The world is facing a significant rice shortage, which is the largest in 20 years:
    Cause
India's export ban on rice is a major factor in the shortage. India's rice exports make up 40% of the global market, so any export bans quickly impact global prices.
    Impact
The shortage threatens food security for developing nations that may not be able to afford or access rice. Rice prices have spiked 15% to 20%, hitting their highest in almost 12 years.
    Other factors
Other factors contributing to the shortage include:
    • The El Niño phenomenon, which brings hotter, drier weather across the region
    • The large number of small-scale farms, which tend to be characterized by low productivity and high-risk value chains
    • Climate shocks, conflicts, and competition for natural resources

The world is experiencing a fertilizer shortage that threatens global food security:
    Russia's invasion of Ukraine
Disrupted fertilizer shipments because Russia is a major exporter of fertilizer and an ally of Belarus, another major producer.
    Export restrictions
China, which accounts for 30% of global phosphate fertilizer supplies, reduced exports by 50% in 2022.
    Energy prices
Rising energy prices caused by the war led to a 70% drop in European fertilizer production.
    Trade restrictions
Before the invasion, the EU and the US imposed sanctions on imports of potash from Belarus, and China imposed a ban on exports of phosphates.
    Hoarding
Major producing nations, like China, increased hoarding.
Other factors that have contributed to the shortage include:
    • A lack of competition in the fertilizer industry
    • Bottlenecks in getting fertilizer into the global market

You can move out of harms way. Get together with a few van lifers and stick together if trouble brews.I'd just keep my tank full . Maybe have an inverter that you can hookup in a pinch if power required. You could even trade it for a secure park up

Yes, there are multiple seed shortages around the world, including a shortage of sunflower seeds and a global seed shortage that affects reforestation:
    Sunflower seed shortage
The war in Ukraine has caused a global sunflower seed shortage. The war has blocked exports from Ukraine's main supplier, FEDIOL, and Ukraine and Russia account for two-thirds of the world's sunflower seed oil exports. In 2024, the average sunflower yield is expected to decline by 12% due to extreme heat and drought.
    Global seed shortage
There is a global seed shortage that affects reforestation. More than half of the world's countries have no known seed banks, and there is a need for more seed banks in almost all countries.
Nurseries also lack a diverse selection of species and seedlings adapted to local conditions and weather.
    Seed bank storage
The Svalbard Global Seed Vault, also known as the "doomsday vault"
', is a remote seed bank that
aims to contain a duplicate of every seed housed in other banks across the globe. However, the vault was breached in 2017 by meltwater after high temperatures in the region.

l really hope this type of situation does not get out of hand, regarding self protection you have a survival knife, but would you consider something like a crossbow, or is that going too far, possibly could get arrested for that assuming police are still in existed, survival at all costs would be a priority, what are your thoughts .

I have a 50lb recurve bow, and also a speargun. I also belong to a field archery club so am a reasonable shot 😆 would it kill someone, yes and the person behind them as it would go clean through. No a crossbow wouldn't be off the cards. My show you my bag video will explain a lot more as I am very aware any knife, bow or even a frying pan could get us arrested if you say the wrong thing. My bow is for archery my speargun us for fishing. Yes they can be used in self defend but not planned. th-cam.com/video/EZmxxtp9ggI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GenEyUq7n4jbYKZ9

In this world that we live in, nothing is certain. In the UK 🇬🇧 we are now living in a tinderbox on the verge of igniting. If it does kick off and that seems more likely than not, it will be a case of no holds barred. It may even come to a case of kill or be killed. Are we prepared for that. Your pack is a good starter pack. I set dry clothes and footwear. Waterproof cover and a couple of lightweight warm covers. Lighting, matches, camping footwear, and not forgetting self-defense items.

I'm not sure why people make statements like this tbh.
Prepping, it's in the name, is just trying to be prepared for things that may happen so that they don't affect your life any more than they would otherwise.
I've been a sort of financial prepper all my life so when I lost my job when our site was closed down I didn't have to work again.
At the beginning of the recent health event I saw what was coming so we stocked up and it hardly impacted our lives and not going out to shop when there's and infectious disease getting around is just common sense.
I tried to warn others but most of them laughed at me. A few weeks later they were running around in circles trying to buy what they needed, but couldn't get, and tried to blame people like me.
I advised them very quickly where their ideas were completely wrong.
Life will always throw up challenges and it's way better to be ready for them than whine about it all afterwards imo.

Love the enthusiasm, but struggle with the scenario’s and assumptions in planning. Prepping needs to have foundations based on realistic situations. The UK may currently be in some peoples views creeping towards a ‘situation’, whatever unrealistic scenario is attached to this perception, but, sorry, not seeing it myself. If people avoided social media or avoided believing the high percentage of ‘dribble’ proclaimed, even stated as facts, then everyone’s mental welfare would certainly improve! Oh I do so miss life before the internet with mobile held devices streaming 24hr nonsense into peoples lives. Life is for living, not living in ‘fear’ of unknowns or maybe’s, that prepping overthinking often pushes minds into unrealistic scenario assumptions. Keep to real life facts, not assumptions. If Cities are that worrying, then simply move-out, live in a rural village. Thank-you for the entertainment of sharing your thought processes and I hope what ever your fears, you find the knowledge to dispel those fears.
