    Cherish your time with your kids, they grow up so fast! My grandkids have even outgrown the little kid days. Congratulations on getting that beaver!

    I own a 2008 L3540 ROPS with a loader, filled R1 tires and a bunch of different attachments. Like you, I do all kind of work on my property with it. Fields work, road maintenance, forest work, snow removal (lots of snow in the north east). This thing is almost unstoppable!
    I love the HST+ transmission on these tractors. It is powerful and versatile. It can easily be set for all kind of situations. I added a skid plate underneath to protect mechanical parts as well as hydraulics lines from being damaged when working in in the forest.
    Keep yours preciously. You will never find such a great tractor again.

      I agree with you. A tractor like that without all the emissions systems is hard to find. I’ll hold onto it for a long time. 👍

    That beaver won't be giving you anymore trouble. When I purchased my Grand L60, the salesman told me all about the transmission and stall guard. I was like sure, it all sounds nice, but it is just features on a tractor. Now that I have almost 200 hours on tractor, I realize how big a deal the HST+ transmission truly is. The HST+ makes the tractor more flexible without having to stop and switch the main gear. Plus, as you pointed out, the Stall guard is another nice feature that I just take it for granted. It is always working in the background and I haven't killed the engine yet. The Grands have nice features.

    • @ritterjon
      @ritterjon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I feel the same as you. You really appreciate more as you find different applications those options are best suited for. Also not all tractor brands have those options. Definitely nice to have.

    Hi Jon! Congrats on bagging that belligerent beaver. That’s an adorable auto-steer you have on the L3940! The transmission on it has all the bell and whistles. Next time you might want to wear a full face shield when backhoeing the swamp. LOL! Thanks for sharing!

  • @wildbill23c
    @wildbill23c 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    They just keep making tractors more and more complex....the auto steer is a great feature to have LOL. Many tractors don't have room for that though. Teach 'em while they're young, and keep letting them practice it makes them better drivers when they are old enough to get their license.

    Good morning RITTERS one day this summer I went to our camp for day trip to cut grass and do some weed whacking I had to cut up five tress that a storm had knocked down on our road. With three out of four tendons tore in my left shoulder was not fun. We also have beaver problems. Have good time at Yukon acres

    • @ritterjon
      @ritterjon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like Yukon acres our place is an hour and half drive if the beavers have not built a dam you can drive right to the camp but if they are busy you to use a boat to cross the river then walk about two miles carrying all your gear which sucks

    I was actually curious about the auto steer on that. I have seen some green star systems adapted to smaller tractors for food plots. We use auto steer in our big tractors. I am also from minnesota. Nice video! did some beaver trapping and shooting 2 years ago myself. beaver castor is the best bait for beavers but just knowing when they are most active you can sit out and spot them typically.

    • @ritterjon
      @ritterjon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bet we might see auto steer on some compact tractors within the next 10 years. Technology sure has taken over the world of farming. It’s hard to keep up with. What part of Minnesota are you from?

      @@ritterjon oh ya it has changed a ton. Small dairy farms have milking robots now! I live and work south of the twin cities. Prior lake, new Prague area. We also use our tractors to plow snow in the cities during the winter. What part of Minnesota are you in?

    Just discovered your channel, nice! I've just checked some of your videos, funny how we live the same life: got a new Grand L 40 series tractor, I have 3 "auto-steer" daughters, and I got a problematic beaver at our cottage. Ha! Cheers from Quebec!

    • @ritterjon

      Yes, they don’t last long on the ground. However I’ve seen log houses built with aspen so it all depends how they are processed.

    How's she goin'? Good to get the beaver, but there are always more than one eh!!! You had me thinking I might switch to 'orange' when you were talking about auto steer!!! That was good one. LOL But I have to take exception when you are trying the brian wash that poor little girl by telling her 'orange' are the best when we all know if it isn't 'red' leave it in the shed!!! LOL Nice work trying to clear under the bridge too Jon. Hopefully clearing that and getting another beaver or 2 and your problems will be resolved. Well at least for a couple more years anyways eh!! Take care!!

    After watching my "auto-steer" (4 grandkids) taking turns in my Kubota, my dog has decided that she wants to climb into my tractor every time I open the door to get in. She is a Catahoula, and a little too big to be qualify as a lap dog. At seven, I would imagine that your auto-steer is old enough to NOT play with the loader joystick while you are driving.

    • @ritterjon
      @ritterjon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My auto steer function has learned over the years. In fact she also knows not to even sit on or touch anything on either tractor without permission. Safety first! Good luck teaching your dog to steer. 👍
