I wish I had friends that liked reading. I went to Barnes today with a friend and the whole time he was judging the books and just making the time there super unenjoyable. But I got a book, so that’s good.
Great video ❤. I find it so realistic that you read two and a half books and not six or seven in 24 hours because that's pretty much the speed that I read at (when I'm not in a slump).
The Silent Patient is easily one of my favorite reads of all time! Probably because it got me into psychological thrillers. Your reactions brought me so much joy ❤
I would love for my husband to read, then I could read even more. He doesn’t say anything but I feel he doesn’t see it as a hobby, he doesn’t understand that I LOVE BEING home and reading, he feels we should be doing stuff and then I feel bad reading so then I go with him, but my insides are SCREAMINNGGGGGG I WANT TO READ lol. Listen the struggle is real!
I really liked The Silent Patient and The Maidens. But as a Christian, I also struggle with excessive language in books, sometimes so unnecessarily. I don't know what to think about it honestly, I can look over it if the story is really good but it does bother me. Like, why?? I just started an audiobook yesterday called Keeping Lucy, and so far there has been zero language, which has been very refreshing!
I'm the way, I feel bad also if there is a lot of language in it. I rather not read it, sometimes it just takes away from the story. My mother used to tell me, if you are uncomfortable reading it then don't read it; or she would say, are the words glorifying Jesus? I'm 52 and I love to read. But I'm very careful, selecting what I read. 😊
I completely understand! If you like romance or mystery or both the love inspired books are great! They have NO language, no spicy gross things, and most of them are faith based which is so cool to me
same for non christians (even though I am one). if you grow up in a household that looks down on it or rarely cusses, then its definitely noticeable later in life. i hate it when in books or tv or movies, characters cuss excessively. it give me the ick cause it's like they're trying to seem more mature or something.
Me as a reader and mom when I see you and Ian reading sooo cosy and relaxed together; just wait till there are kids in the future. 😂😂😂 I’m so jealous 😂😂😂😂 My headphones are life savers. 🎉
I think you've convinced me to pick up The Dagger and the Flame! I've had it on my shelf since it came out with BOTM but it's been sitting in limbo for me. The way you described it sounded awesome. Love this video!
My maximum in one day (not without sleeping or eating) has been three novels and a half. If I read poetry or short stories, I can finish over twenty books in one day, but poetry feels like cheating because there's lots of space left on each page, so I wouldn't be reading so many words. The "compensation" would be the time needed to process what the poems mean, but I'm quite experienced, therefore novels would be my best option for such a challenge. About 1800 pages in one day when I don't have to go to work, I'm not already tired and I actually like the books.
I didn't care much for The Silent Patient, but I want to give it another chance as I read it at a bad time to be reading anything that required actual thought. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I will have to check out Dagger and Flame. I'm not much of a romance or romantasy reader, but I'm trying to find my niche in the genres anyway.
Although I didn’t like the silent patient (the language rly was too much) & kinda saw it coming, I could see how people like it bc that is a really good plot twist
I love your videos, Ashlyn! Specially challenges. I am glad you enjoyed The dagger and the flame. I had the pleasure of translating it to Spanish and enjoyed it a lot. I gave it a 4-star review, although I agree with you that it had some adult content I am not the biggest fan of. Have a lovely day! Love from Spain xx
I’m one of the few who hated the silent patient and DNF’d it😅 I looked at the end and I guessed everything right so it was really lack luster for me. I just don’t have good luck with thrillers😂🙈
I put the first book into my TBR SO FAST after you said an enemies to lovers "touch her and i'll kill you"...yep, yep. I DNF The Silent Patient...should i give it another go? I'm so proud of you darling! Love your energy and videos! Please do another 24 hour soon LOL
I also read The Silent Patient and gave it 4 stars. It’s definitely a slow burn thriller and there were times it was too slow for me. And I wasn’t crazy about the last 2 pages. But overall I had a decent time with it. You should definitely do this challenge again sometime. I’m thinking of doing one next weekend for my channel since these type of videos are so popular.
Hi!! I was wondering what matcha powder you use?! Im trying to find a really good one, and you seem to love yours! Also, you convinced me to read Dagger and the Flame! ❤❤
I will never understand these 24 hr challenges. Reading a book when you're incredibly tired just seems silly to me. Why not read 12 hrs one day, sleep and then read another 12 hrs the next day? I feel like that would do the books justice and you'd have a better experience reading them.
I love watching your videos! You and your husband are an amazing couple and you guys put out such great content. I would highly suggest no more 24 hour read-a-thons though. Reading for 24 hours with rest in between still makes a great video. My son is taking psychology in college and he had to watch this video and it will shock you how lack of sleep even for one night can affect your health. It’s so not worth it! Take care of yourself 🫶😊 th-cam.com/video/5MuIMqhT8DM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=R1HbWfSDQlbl0T8_

Oh I’m so sorry that sucks :(

😞nooo, I’m so sorry. That can be really discouraging and frustrating. I’m so glad you got a book! 🩵
Haha you and Ian with the big books: "500 pages is not too bad".... for a readathon.... and then smashing it lol.
Great video ❤. I find it so realistic that you read two and a half books and not six or seven in 24 hours because that's pretty much the speed that I read at (when I'm not in a slump).

I'm so glad you read The Silent Patient!! I read it a couple of years ago and gave it 5 stars!!!
Now reread The Maidens and look for the reference to The Silent Patient. (:
Yessss!!! I loved that part!

You need to read 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff I feel like it is something you would absolutely love!

Hi, i was wondering, where did u get the rotating bookself?
I’m not sure, it was actually a gift! 🥲🩵
I always see booktubers reading while listening to music - I get SO distracted 😂😂
That use to be me I promise!!
The dagger flame sounds like gas
Imagine you had a husband when you asked him to go the library together and he said "Yeah let's do it." I could only imagine
😭😭😭😭
Where do you listen to audiobook?? I've noticed every físicas books you read you hace the audio. What app you use?
Spotify or Libby!
I hope that that dark figure walking behind you on your walk was ian!
I think it was because you can see their dog Meshak😂 You had me looking behind her the whole time
Omg Hii I’m so early ❤❤❤
Where did you get your bookshelf that swirls?
I’m not sure! It was a gift 🥺🩵

There are book creators that do the challenge in that format as well! It just depends on the person I guess
And it’s just a fun challenge to try!
That’s how I felt about Billy Summers. I had to DNF it midway.
I can't read books with excessive swearing either. It completely takes me out of the book.
